How's S36 Lookin'?
#1
(This post was last modified: 04-27-2019, 12:54 AM by trella.)

It’s been over 10 seasons since the historic Season 36 Reddit Draft Class were drafted to their respective SHL teams since then and a lot has changed. Throughout this period of time, these players have progressed through their careers. While this draft class may be seen as a disappointment as many of the high end players at draft time did not pan out, the players that did stick around made a huge impact on the league. Lots of people have been lost to inactivity and retirement, but we still have a solid group sticking around.

This isn’t going to have the depth and detail as @Rabidsponge21 ‘s S31 articles as there are still a lot of people left and I don’t have the time to go through awards and all star nominations right now, but once our numbers thin out these will get more detailed.

Who has scored the most goals?

Name Goals

Cody/Oisin Fletcher 175
Tigole Bitties 172
Joseph Lombardi 143
Colton Hagan 138
Teddy Cuddles 137
Yuri Boyka Jr. 129

Seth Paige 4
Gilfred Alfredsson 2
Chase Byron 1
Lukas Muller 1

Oisin Fletcher is leading the charge with 175 goals but Tigole Bitties isn’t far behind with 172. These two will be battling for the top spot for a while but I see Bitties overtaking Fletcher in the end. Quite interestingly, Hagan in 4th in goals, he was a pretty underrated player. Unfortunately, he retired so he will soon be passed up by guys like Cuddles, Boyka Jr., Konig, and Augustus. Lombardi is not too far ahead of Cuddles so the race for third will be interesting to see.

Unsurprisingly, we see names like Tigole Bitties and Roman Augustus at the top, with Bitties leading the charge. However, we see a dark horse here, Clint Eastwood. Eastwood is known as a shut down defenseman but he is only 1 assist behind Augustus. Fletcher, Cuddles, and Konig are the others that have surpassed 200 so far with Owens, Odegard, Hefeweizen, and Zajac are all very close.

Tigole Bitties is the first and only S36 player to hit 400 points so far, but it looks like Fletcher will easily hit 400 this season. Augustus is also on the verge of getting there and with a good season he can hit 400 as well. Cuddles, Konig, Boyka, and Zajac are about 2 seasons away from reaching the milestone.

We finally see some new faces at the top here. Cuddles has been a hitting machine but Dakota Reid is not far behind and has had an underrated career in San Francisco. Eastwood unsurprisingly is up there as long as Hagan and Creller. Nobody else is very close to hitting 1k, with the declining Wyder being the closest, but it is unlikely he gets there.

The Season 36 Class has had a large amount of position changes, so this stat is a little funky. Guys who have been a defenseman their whole career are obvious front runners here. Defensive stalwart Eastwood leads the charge. Odegard, Creller, Hefeweizen, and Chiclets have all been defensemen for their whole career so they have a leg up here. It seems unlikely that Eastwood will hit 1k shot blocks since he is no longer progressing, but maybe Odegard can hit it.

Who’s scored the most goals in the playoffs?

Obviously, not all players from the draft class have not been fortunate enough to get a ton of time in the playoffs, so this stat can be a little funky. Being a part of a few cup runs with the Platoon, Dionýz Vyskoč has been able to light the lamp often in the playoffs, leading the category. Fletcher, Boyka, and Augustus have also surpassed the 30 playoff goal mark.

Who has the most playoff points?

This stat is a blowout for Augustus, who made many deep runs with the Calgary Dragons, West Kendall Platoon, and now the New Orleans Specters. Closing in on 100 playoff points is very impressive, but Augustus has definitely had his fair share of series givving him a bit of an advantage.Fletcher, Konig, and Cuddles have passed 60 career playoff points and Vyksoc, Konig, and Hefeweizen are very close.

Who’s scored the most game winners in the playoffs?
Name Playoff GWG
Cody/Oisin Fletcher 7

Some players have that clutch factor, and some don’t. Here we see that Fletcher has won the most games for his team with a clutch goal to put them over the edge. 7 game winners is enough to win a whole series, which is very impressive. Boyka, Singh, Augustus, Cuddles, and Creller are no slouches either with 5+ each.

This draft class may not have been everything it was hyped up to be in the end, but it still has produced some fantastic players that have put in a lot of work and have had great careers so far. Will we see any hall of fame players from this class? We will have to wait and see. Guys like Bitties and Fletcher definitely have a shot while Cuddles, Augustus and Konig have an outside shot if they finish off their careers strong.

To me, it will always be #season36bestclass
