It was a tough start to the playoffs with the Raptors losing the first two games and at first it didn't look as though the Raptors were going to be able to challenge. It wasn't that the team wasn't performing, we just weren't getting the bounces that we needed to go our way and we had to wait until game 3 to find some luck and pull ourselves into the win column. The Raptors GM, @hhh81 took a chance on starting me for the series and so far my player has performed well enough to hold the net, and currently my stat line is 2-2-1 in 5 games with a .906 save percentage and a 2.57 GAA. We managed to string two back to back wins together and can see that our offense is starting to click and momentum is building. We have since lost game 5 and now sit with the series being 3-2 in the Raiders favor however based off of performance thus far I believe the Raptors have a strong chance of doing what we did earlier in the week and pulling off another two wins back to back. We have to do whatever it takes to succeed and now it's up to our star players to come through when we really need them the most. Go Raptors go!
The Raptors...are legendary. We've been fighting tooth and nail to get this damn playoff series closed off in our favor, we've had some unfortunate luck that I won't bring to light here but regardless it's been fun hockey and the whole team has come together in hopes to win this series and advance. The team has just been hyping one another up, my player, Denver Wolfe, has not been performing up to my own personal standards but as long as we win games I am just happy to contribute in any and all ways possible. As for the rest of the team, we have been getting chances, getting shots on net, but we just need those conversions, we know its possible, our goalie is standing on his head and so with all of that in mind, we look to push into a game six win and then hopefully bring it home in the most "fun" time of all, game seven. If that can be done, we'll all have a lot of relief.
I've been very proud and honored to play for this team regardless of the outcome, it's just been a fun first season back despite not playing the whole season, and I look forward to where my career takes off from here, in my opinion it can only go up, there is so many hopes and dreams left to achieve.
Fortunately since St. Louis had the best record n the SMJHL this year we were one of the few teams to have a first round bye. During the first round of the playoffs we watched and talked about the games. We also spent the time doing tasks to upgrade and making our players better. I had a few teammate give me some suggestions on areas of my game that I can improve on. I really appreciate their advice and I think I'll be a lot better for it. As of this moment we don't know which team we will be playing in the next round, as a team we don't have a team we want to play more then anyone else in the next round. Each team as their own strength and weaknesses and I think we match up well against all of them. Ask any member of the Scarecrows and we'll tell you that we are very confident about making it the next round, and after closing out the regular season the way we did, we want to bring home the Four Star Cup back home to St. Louis. We all know that the playoffs are a different animal, for me and the other rookies it's our first playoffs and we went to show the world what we got for. For the vets it might be their last games in a Crows jersey and want to go out with a bang.
Go Crows

The Anaheim Outlaws had a hard earned bye week to prepare for round two of the playoffs after working for the #2 overall seed in this season's playoffs. Anthony Archer was in the gym, getting all his workouts in before the weekend so he could use it as a couple rest days for his muscles before the series started. Rumors have it that some of the other players on the team however didn't show up, and were in hotels knocked out surrounded by various cans of cheap beer. In the afternoons, the team held practice where those players in question may be more easily noticeable as they fall into the boards on multiple occasions, and even score on their own goalie on one incident. The team ran scrimmages, and many drills working on their power play in preparation. They also had off ice training which included lunch and watching tapes of the other playoff games currently going on between the lower seeds. Coaches worked one on one with some of the centers, giving some pointers and working on their faceoff skills. The team wasn't sure who they were facing off against, but hoped it was somehow the Kelowna Knights to break the law of physics.

I prepared for round 2 by celebrating on the wonderful season that I have had, I had a great regular season and I seem like a favorite to be named rookie of the year this season and I am honored to do so. I am working on my game but really just trying to relax and make sure I am ready for the Vancouver whalers. Having the bye puts you in a great situation as a playoff series is stressful and I hate to be in pressure situations like that. I know that when playoffs start, I need to be better and be more prepared than I have ever been before. The whalers are a great organization and I know that they are going to be ready to play for the playoffs they always seem to be a great playoff team and a team that is on the verge on winning championships, we hope Montreal can be like that under my rule. I think we can beat the whalers but everyone has to be on top of their games and ready to go from game one to beat this whalers squad and to be victors. We gotta be better than we were in the regular season and I gotta hope that my best hockey is coming soon as I have been struggling heading into the playoffs
So the Scarecrows finished the regular season with the number 1 overall seed, so inherently we had a bye in the first round of the playoffs. This didn't give us any time to rest though as we kept practicing every day and running through our normal scenarios. We spent a good deal of time scouting all of our potential opponents between Colorado, Halifax, and Kelowna. Once we found out that Kelowna had lost and that Halifax had beaten Colorado, we were able to start getting our game plan completely fleshed out in order to best attack the Raiders. We knew that despite the matchup being a #1 seed vs a #8 seed, it wasn't going to be an easy series. The Raiders would be coming off a series victory with all the momentum in the world, and we all know that momentum can play a big part in any playoff run. We'd have to take advantage of our fresh legs with the extra resting period in order to defeat Halifax. As it turned out, that rested advantage worked in game 1 as we claimed a victory. From there however, Halifax was able to take their momentum back and beat us in four straight one-goal games. I had thought our preparation leading into this series was enough, but in the end we were defeated in upset fashion. Not to worry, the Crows will work hard in the off-season and come back even stronger next season.

Lethbridge had a very tough first round series against the Kelowna Knights. The series went six games but the games were very evenly matched and both teams put their hearts on the line for the chance to win the series. The biggest margin of victory was by two goals (which happened on three occasions. That means that the other three games were only separated by one goal each. Kelowna has a rich playoff history so it was good to see Lethbridge accomplish something by knocking a team like them out. Harry Carpet made some big saves in the series and the team was led by Cal Cluckers amazing work from the backend. Clucker has been a force all season long but he showed his playoff chops by doing such a great job at both ends of the rink. Jules L'Eclair has been lighting the lamp this postseason and with a shot percentage at close to twenty percent, it's no surprise why 6 goals seems to be the highest output by one Lethbridge player so far this postseason.
Now a tough test comes into play as the Lethbridge squad will face Anaheim in the second round of playoffs. The two have never met in the postseason to our knowledge.
The Colorado Raptors were unfortunately eliminated in the first round to the Halifax Raiders in 6 games. The expectations heading into the playoffs weren't too high as the team has a general understanding of the state of the team and has realistic expectations. We felt there was a chance against the Raiders and it wouldn't be a for sure series and we feel like we ended up playing that way. 5 of 6 games ended in a 1 goal differential with one heading to overtime. The sole game that wasn't won by just 1 goal was only won by 2. No games were blowouts throughout this series. Both teams fought hard battled and each game was a close finish. I think this is something the Raptors can be proud of while also looking to improve next season. The standout player for the Raptors had to be Knox Booth. He is a rookie goalie and he stole the starting position from Thorstrom and completely dominated. he ended the series with a 2.47 GAA and a save percentage of .907%. There is a very good chance Booth has officially taken that starting job heading into next season which is a very promising thing for the team.
The first round of the playoffs for my 8th seeded Halifax Raiders was nothing short of magical. Playing against the 9th seed Colorado Raptors, you would have expected Halifax to win, right? But if you look a little deeper, seeding isn’t everything. If you look at the regular season stats against Colorado, Halifax actually only won two out of six games against Colorado. In fact, my Halifax Raiders have a winning record against one team in the SMJHL, the Lethbridge Lions. So, while you would expect us to be the favorites due to seeding, in fact we are (and will be) the underdogs for as long as we remain in the playoffs. That is why the first round was so magical for the Raiders. We not only won the series to advance to Round 2, but we did it by getting the tough wins that we weren’t able to get in the regular season. Those tough wins were exemplified by the fact that all four wins in the series were by a single goal. Additionally, during the first round it was clear that the offense began to gel. In the six games played, Halifax averaged 2.5 goals a game, a decent increase from the 2.3 goals a game that the Raiders averaged in their six regular season games against Colorado. Finally, the first round showed how the defense has much improved as of late, especially the goaltending of Biz Nasty. In six regular season games against Colorado, the Raiders gave up 17 goals. In the playoffs, however, our defense was able to limit to the Raptors to 14. Ultimately, the improved offense & defense and grittier play led to the first round victory and will serve Halifax well we Raid On throughout the playoffs.
