The following is a word-for-word transcription of the press event Izem Abioye had yesterday with St. Louis media.

(Abioye and his agent enter the media room, camera clicks can be heard)

Abioye’s Agent: No questions please, Izem needs to get on a flight to Detroit in an hour, so we don’t have time for questions. Mr. Abioye has a written statement he will read out, and then we’ll wrap it up.

Abioye: Thank you, Tom, it’s been…uh…an interesting week for me, for St. Louis, and for Detroit. I’d like to thank the Crows management and my teammates and the fans that have cheered for me and supported me, I’d just like to let them know…that…even though I left because I wanted to be with friends, I’ll never forget the friends I made with the Crows. That love, and that…that…bond that we shared in those games, and in the locker rooms, it was a pleasure and…a gift to play in such a great place. To even start a career in such a successful place as the Scarecrows…it’s a miracle. I have a few people I would like to shout out, to thank them for various…things
(shuffling papers can be heard)

Abioye: I’ll start with our captain, Nic, he was a great role model, and he was a real quality guy. I’ll always love him. To my best friend, Mik, man you…you were a real character, I loved ya man…I loved ya, I’lll miss you a lot. To…uh…my roommate, Lyle, I...uh…(sniffling) God, this is gonna be hard, uh…Lyle, you were probably one of my greatest friends…adjusting…to the game here in America…and helping me move in, you were such (holding back tears)…a good friend…and a great guy all around.
To the fans of St. Louis, I hope there are no hard feelings, I have loved your support and the crowds have been wonderful. I wish everyone in that city and that organization the best, as I look to new beginnings.
