Hello again I'm back with an end of season report on each team's third line, similar to the midseason one I did here , except a little bit better I hope. To begin, I will look at some standard average line stats, followed by standard individual stats. I will then look at some advanced line stats, followed by advanced individual stats. Basic line stats here's the average tpe ranking of each line
Key Takeaways Honestly, compared to the midseason report (below), a lot of third lines got considerably worse. Key Takeaways Detroit has a dominant team, and unsurprisingly, has a third line that dominates as well. Best ranked TPE wise, it is not shocking that they finish with the best producing third line. Vancouver finishes in second, on the back of Cullen Gray, who had a shit ton of their points. anchorage, after blowing up their non-producing third line at midseason, had a terrible line production wise; same with St. Louis and Lethbridge. Third line grinders? or nah
Key Takeaways I swear this isnt a typo lol Detroit as a team is just that good, and this line has some serious two-way players. Lethbridge on the other hand, the less said, the better. Montreal's line is the only other positive line, showing teams depth are typically unable to play good, solid, defensive hockey. Lethbridge literally can't score and genuinely can't keep the puck out of their own net at all. Anaheim can contribute a bit offensively, but are bad defensively. Notable Takeaways St. Louis and Lethbridge have some players on the very low end of the rankings, explaining their struggles this year, although St. Louis' Hernadivic is in the top 10. Krashwagen has middle of the pack TPE, but as you will see, no production to match lol Unsurprising to see the top 5 in TPE, and as you will see, how their production matches up Point Leaders
Key Takeaways Top 3 scorers are in their own tier (combined 126 points) Huge cluster-jam in the middle with the majority of the third liners getting between 14-19 points Gray led the midseason report, finished top of the line at the end of season as well A number of players from the midseason report got promoted off the third line, good for them Krashwagen, dangelchek, and fuhrberg were bottom of the barrel at midseason, and remained there for the second half of the season as well. Advanced line stats LINE PDO PDO (also sometimes called SPSV%) = 5v5sh% + 5v5sv%. This stat is a luck measurement. The idea is that over a large enough sample size PDO will regress towards 1000 for every player.

Key Takeaways Looking at this list, St. Louis had a very lucky third line. They were consistently outplayed when on the ice, and should have much worse numbers than they do. They are a huge drag on their team, and might need to be broken up in order for the crows to go far. Lethbridge was more unlucky than bad, having a middle of the pack relative CF% Detroit was surprisingly not in first for this, good for the Outlaws. Advanced player stats Player IPPEV IPP = points / (goals scored while you're on the ice). The higher this stat, the more involved you are in your team's offense. For defensemen IPP is around 10% lower on average. IPP helps to identify "drivers" and "passengers". Very high IPP probably means you need better linemates (sorry). IPPEV is calculated at even-strength
Key Takeaways The top 5 of Peralta, Vanice, Kyllonen, Bobby, and Hernadivic all deserve better linemates Hernadivic is an unsurprising name, as his two linemates are 29th and 30th in TPE Weiser and Krashwagen are extremely bringing their linemates down, and should likely be demoted To a lesser extent, Fuhrberg, Dangelchek, Reeves, and Namokato are not living up to their linemates play. In the end, I was intrigued to see how each teams third lines played out over the course of the year, as I was curious about how my player and our line compared to third lines across the league. It was fun, but a grind getting everyone's stats, so as a newbie here, if anyone knows how to download players stats that could be hella helpful in the future.
