Written Task: What kind of accommodations, attractions, restaurants, stores, homes, or parks do you want around your home arena? How would you design the perfect arena neighbourhood? Do you want it to be entirely leisure focused? Full of arcades and bars and carnival games? Or are you going to try something different? Maybe a large surrounding park? A nice quiet residential neighborhood that will send you noise complaints every time there's a game? There's no oversight here, make whatever your heart desires! (150+ words)

The Ottawa Senators stuck their arena out in a residential area and that worked wonders for them, so I'll do the same. But on a more serious note if I were to design the perfect arena neighbourhood I would place it downtown or somewhere equally easily accessible via public transit. I would have some pay parking nearby for those who choose to drive and I'd keep the price relatively low so it's not too outrageous. As for amenities I think a healthy balance of leisure and entertainment is best. Depending on the climate maybe an outdoor rink nearby, or if not a second community rink accessible to the public before games. For the adults I'd include a casino and a variety of bars ranging from casual sports bar to fine dining restaurant for those with a bit more cash to burn. For the kids an arcade sounds like a wicked idea. I'm not sure what happened to arcades but let's assume they are still a solid business idea for this purpose. Lastly I think a nice green space just past all these amenities would be a terrific addition for those none game days. Just a place for the city folk to gather and hang out, maybe host the odd event.

Ricky Koivu has two places that he tends to stay in during the season. He mainly enjoys staying at his house in a lower key and quiet neighborhood in Philadelphia, as he is someone who prefers an environment like that. He is very studious for the most part on his own time and enjoys both reading books regularly and researching ways to improve his game on the ice. His other, more temporary place of residence is a frat house type of residence owned by the Hamilton Steelhawks players in Toronto that he tries to visit whenever the Forge have some time off. Koivu likes to shed from his studious and calm side when visiting the Hammy House, and does a lot of partying with his longtime friends. His mentor and friend Gabriel Johnson shows up to these parties as well, which is all the more motivation for Koivu to show up when he can. However, these frat house visits from Koivu are criticized by fans due to the negative effects they could have on his ability and concentration. (178 words)
Duncan Mackenzie would surround the stadium with attractions. Obviously, as a Dragon, there would be an outrageously large number of Chicken Parmesan Shops around the rink. Like, a stupid amount. Plus stalls outside each entrance that sold them too. Interspersed with these would be the bars and lounges. Each would be mandated to have a large screen TV visible from every seat in the place to ensure no-one has to miss a second of Dragons Hockey throughout their evening experience. Filling in the last of the shops would be a team store, restaurants, and some higher end clothing stores. I feel it is also important to have a large green space near an arena. A place fans can walk through to clear their head after a tough loss or celebrate a massive win. This could also be used as an outdoor fan zone for important games, complete with a beer garden and chicken parm dispensary. Overall, the fan experience should be top notch.

During his rookie season, M’Baku Olubori lived in agent-turned-GM Johnny Hamilton’s 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath Baltimore home. Johnny over the years has acquired a number of properties—his brownstone in South Philly, his vacation home in the Colorado Rockies, and now his home in Baltimore. As GM of the Baltimore Platoon (and top partner at the Hamilton Sports Agency), Hamilton puts a lot of miles on Amtrak trains between Philly and Baltimore. In a given week, he likely goes back and forth 2-3 times (the hussle never stops!) With that, his Baltimore home had room for a rookie to get acclimated to the city. Olubori took full advantage of that… including having some ill advised ragers while Mr. Hamilton was out of town. M’Baku obviously repaid the damages to Johnny’s house, but he noticed more than usual traffic on Hamilton’s street while Johnny was out of town. Baku didn’t mind living with Johnny, though it still wasn’t an ideal situation for either side.

The message was set, and with the help of some of the player services staff for the Platoon, Olubori was able to find and lock down a beautiful, spacious downtown apartment in Baltimore. Close to all of the culture and nightlife B-More has to offer, Baku is poised for an exciting season on and off the ice.
So 2nd prompt and Isaac stays in Colorado since he loves the area so much. As Captain for the past 2 seasons it is important for him to set an example to all the rookies that we hve that it is a great place to live. Especially if you like weed. Isaac does not smoke but is perfectly fine being round it since he knows a good number of his team mates do it. In a lovely big mansion might I add. What? He has the bank to do it so why wouldn't he. Truth being told I do not know where exactly that would be cause I imagine on top of mountain wouldn't be efficient to travel around in. Still, I think on international games he avoids his Team Dach team mates and focuses on getting good sleep in a lovely hotel room somewhere nearby that they train or play the matches in. Something nice though cause he has the money for it.

To build the proper accommodations, the New Orleans went old school and followed the Hartford Whaler’s area concept and had the area attached to a shopping mall with a connecting walk way to swanky hotel. The mall would contain of you your shopping mall favorites Spencer’s, Supercuts, Wiggle Worms Playland, and Yankee Candle. The mall would also try to for fill all of your fine dining desires by have a local brewery and along with local New Orleans restaurants in addition to fantastic chain restaurants such as Wendy's, Buffalo wild wings, Ninety-Nine Restaurant & Pub and a Healthy Living Market & Café.  Additionally, the mall would have a Dave and Buster’s, Wow Arcade and a Little Darling Studios.  As for the housing in the area there is none, you can stay at the hotel but there are no home or apartments at the mall so it would be crammed into the business district of the city.

Mito didn't expect his career to go the way it did. When he was drafted into the SHL, he had it on his mind he would only be down in the juniors for a few seasons at most. Then he started to fall behind his peers, and realized that he wouldn't get that SHL call up. So he started to find a nice home in the Kelowna area, hoping to continue his hockey career in the city that has been his home for years. When searching for his home, he wanted one thing. For it to be close to the arena, so he could continue to support the organization and hopefully join the organization in a different role once he aged out of the league and retired from playing. He was able to find a home only 5 minutes away from the arena, while also being 10 minutes from a local ice rink that he could help run hockey camps out of.

PLAYER PROMPT- I've asked about your players' hometowns and summer homes and all that stuff before, but I don't think I've ever asked about where you all stay during the actual season!

Written Task:  So where do you live while the season is actually going on? In a condo near the arena? Is your current team the place you've been for a long time? Do you have a permanent home there? Either way, what does it look like? What kind of living situation does your player prefer and why? If they've been traded or signed to a new team or moved from the SMJHL to the SHL at any point, talk about what the move was like! How did they go about choosing a new place to live? (150+ words)

Seattle is my home. It is where I was drafted and it is where I plan to stay. I have great house outside the city. I was lucky enough to play my junior hockey with the Vancouver Whalers right across the border from Seattle so I have been in the pacific northwest for a while now and it has become my new home. It is a place that I plan to stay in for the rest of my life. The people here have taken me in and treated me like one of their own. It is truly and honor to wear this jersey and live in this community. I hope that the back-to-back championships we have delivered in some way repays the generosity they have shown me. They truly are the best fans in the world and it has been a pleasure to be able to represent this city for my entire career.

personally (as in, in my personal opinion), i think that binko of the koivu variety who is currently playing for the inferno out of the city of atlanta, georgia, would be an absolutely fantastic city planner. now, why do i think this opinion you may ask? well i am very glad that you took the time and effort to ask me! so here are my reasons. firstly, i have personally witnessed binko koivu spend way too much of his time (as in very many hours out of the day, almost every day of his week and almost every week of his months and years) watching youtube videos about urban planning so at least he thinks he knows what he's talking about when it comes to city planning. now what would he actually plan for the city? well he would put almost all of his focus on public transit because he thinks it is very important to have a good transit system where the buses run on time! am i right @Jepox and @hotdog and @micool132? he would make sure there is lots and lots of public transit (particularly a subway system but not the restaurant kind) that go straight to the arena!
PLAYER PROMPT- Written Task

I have been called up to the Philadelphia Forge under relatively short notice and am currently moved into a hotel. I was staying in an apartment in Vancouver (that had another year on the lease. RIP) and while it was nice enough, it's not quite on par with the room they have me in in Philly. It's close to the arena, which is a nice upgrade, so to speak. Maybe if I can get a contract with some decent length I'll buy a nice home here and make the city of brotherly love a real home, but for now as a young player, I'm more than content to live this bohemian lifestyle out of a hotel for a year. Maybe find another player on the team to bond with and crash there. The thought of owning my own home and settling down is so far away that I don't even think about it. I wasn't able to bring much in the initial move either. Anything I want I'm going to need shipped here, which is a bit of a pain. Everything is pretty bare-bones right now. But I love these small, temporary homes for right now.
