Don't you limit activity though? Once someone hits THAT cap they'll stop doing anything at all. Stuff like play by plays, post game shows. . .those suddenly become useless.
PGS are fucking useless though

They are shit, but people do them so apparently they lead to activity in some way.

It's not like I haven't thought about a way to improve PT's. If it was so easy it would have been done by now. I'm still listening to all ideas.
I have mentioned discussion topics for multiple seasons and have been ignored.

I have also made other points here which have been ignored.

The only suggestion you've made in this thread is "more PT's" which doesn't solve the problem. And if you have made so many discussion topics before I was commissioner and before it was a huge concern for me, I would love to hear them now.

Make many more small PTs, spread them out, give people something to do over the course of a season+offseason.

Sunday Fundays are lame, use that capped TPE on things that take longer than 5 minutes.

Implement discussion board threads every week. A unique post and two replies give 3 TPE, or something.

Promote activity that way, give people something to argue about regarding the league. Hell, I'll even provide a topic and information to go from.

Literally an hour ago.

I mentioned removing Sunday Funday and using that capped TPE to use on regular PTs.

I mentioned that a 175 cap is unlikely to be hit very easily considering I earn about 160 or so a year and I'm one of the most active members here.

That doesn't address the problem you brought up.

"I would argue that if a system gets progressively more boring as a player progresses, then the system has a long-term problem with keeping members interested."

how is removing a short PT, adding a season long cap, and "Implement discussion board threads every week" keep people form being bored? Your discussion board thread sounds promising until people just post some sort of nonsense just so they can get the tpe, which then needs rules which then basically becomes a written PT.

If Pris starts a thread about how she loves Nickleback and is the only one posting in it, it's not "activity"

I would say removing a PT cap and allowing more options for PTs throughout the season allows for people to have something to do. Once people hit the PT cap and the offseason hits, this place is dead.

As far as the discussion board, of course there would need to be regulations. But it is worth trying out instead of another "Talk about your daily routine lolol" PT. How many people even care about the content in that stuff other than the graders?

That's what I'm trying to work with jayblez so that there's no "limit" to the points you can get. We want the same thing, it's just let's figure out the best approach to it.

For offseason activity, the IIHF PT that was brought up is a good idea, and I'm about to hire a group of really qualified people to help jumpstart international play so that the offseason is more interesting.

It's true, written PT's can be pretty boring. I think the last PT for every season should be a suggestions PT for better ideas next time. They should be more focused on what happens inside the rink than outside.

We actually were discussing a way to tie forum activity into PTs more this season earlier today, I thought it was a really great idea, and though I think there's some tweaking needed, a discussion PT could be a really interesting thing. Maybe we have a weekly discussion thread and you have to hit 3 different criteria to get the TPE? (i.e. the Discussion thread is about that week's sim and you have to write 3 50 word comments talking about a game, a team and a stat, for example?) That might be too similar to PGS's, but something like that, maybe?

You read everything, though.

Except the post game shows. Even I don't read those.

I can't even get him to update his own player.
