HO originally was going to let all 3 go to bidding. While I'm sure people would love to see Hamilton lose 3 1st round picks due to negligence, it is absolutely not what the rule was meant for. I feel partially responsible for not pointing that out in Tommy's rule overview/clarification. The whole point is to stop GMs from abusing a loophole that allowed them to keep players rights without spending cap.

They hadn't lost them though had they? They can always win the bidding process. Seems like a massive over reach by the owners to circumvent HO decision making. Considering this rule was followed by 19/20 SHL teams it's a bit weak to make an exception.

The rulebook seems clear in this case too.

Seems like different results for different teams, and different results for different users.
Well you see Ace, you don’t have that little Steelhawks banner attached to your name! Happy to help you clear up that confusion!

And EDM ate a $12 million cap penalty in which it wasn’t even totally our fault.

i still dont get how a team can obviously break the rules, have HO agree they broke the rules and give them the proper punishment, then have owners just come in an be like "nah theyll lose some 2nd".

Would love more insight into the appeals process though and everyone who is making the appeal decision

This is my favorite thing to do now that I know Discord DMs count for something. You can also edit the date, the username, hell, even their profile picture. If someone actually wanted to do harm with this, they definitely could.
it would be trivial for HO to confirm those screenshots are manipulated and a GM caught doing it would never work a job in the league again, if they didn't get banned on the spot. but if that's the hill you want to die on be my guest

This is the part I don't get, the rules clearly state they go to bidding. Any team can bid, but that's supposed to be the consequence of not getting your draftees signed by the deadline. Seems black and white to the most of us.

We've not seen a spate of unjust punishments due to people falsely accusing others of harassing them/abusing them/tampering them via discord DMs, what makes you think it's going to start now? This is not the first time discord DMs have been taken into account in a sim league punishment.
Don't say I didn't warn you about this

In the original post by Teddy, apparently there can't be an appeal of this decision.
