Intro
With the draft just over now, I wanted to take a look at the last five drafts I spent in the Colorado War Room (not including the one that just happened where I replaced Jumbo in GM Chat since he was away). I'll give some hindsight on who we picked, who I suggested we picked (obviously drafting can be made to look easy in hindsight, but I remember vividly suggesting everyone of these picks). I want to stress how much I love the GMs that have been leading the team since I joined the War Room and that I'm not trying to undermine the job they do or make them look bad (except maybe in one pick in part 3 - S58, but that's only to tease them). I didn't know Gonzo Gobbledygook's user Tweedledunn personally but our GM Birdman knew him well from SFP. It was a great pick, as he is #1 in TPE in that class as of last update. Haschdi wouldn't have been a terrible pick either as he's second by a single TPE, but he's already been called up to the SHL by Texas while we get another season, and then likely one more, of Gobbledygook who's going to play a major role on our team. Round 3 - Pick 30 ![]() Status: Active ![]() TPE: 487
lespoils' choice: Eric Tokke Our second pick in that draft was mid-third, but we managed to get our hands on a guy that's quietly earning and becoming a more and more important part of our roster. In a draft that wasn't particularly deep, we're very glad that we've been able to Round 4 - Pick 39 ![]() Status: Inactive TPE: 210
lespoils' choice: Karl Detloff We tried a recreate here that had a short-lived player a few seasons before. Didn't really work out, but so did most of the players drafted after that point, although a few teams did manage to find the gems that we couldn't. Round 4 - Pick 42 ![]() Status: Inactive ![]() TPE: 232
lespoils' choice: Josiah Hansen Another one with very little to say about. He did get a bit more TPE than Detloff and will be playing on the Elk's roster after they signed him as an IFA; he can be a serviceable defenseman. Round 5 - Pick 54 ![]() Status: Inactive TPE: 155 lespoils' choice: Alexander Rask I won't even bother with this goalie's stats because he had none. We needed a backup goalie for Rosejac at that point and tried everything to get this one to stick; fluw even tried emailing them because their DMs were disabled, without any luck. This was definitely a draft to forget for Colorado as far as depth goes and we all left the voice chat disappointed, with only little hope that these last three picks would pan out. Code: 1516 words, 305 words without stat tables. 2x media ![]() ![]() Registered #4 Princess Diana Fan | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
