Gappy Hilmore's start to the season has been off to a solid start in S80. While his offensive ratings haven't been that great, it was already known to be the weaker aspect of his game. But in reality, he has been anything but a liability on that side of the ice. In 12 games he has accounted for 1 goal and 4 assists, and while that is nothing to scoff at, it really is impressive considering most of his skills and attributes have been focusing on the defensive side of the rink. He has a +/- of 3 as well, great for an adjusting TDL create. Overall he is holding on his own against quality starters. On the defensive side of the rink, so far he has 5 takeaways to only 2 giveaways. Gappy is definitely looking to improve on that front as well as his Faceoffs, which haven't been that impressive being that he is 1-3 (25%). His overall game rating is 59, 52 on offense and 65 on defense.
If you're looking for an attacking and punishing defender, look no further than Gappy Hilmore. He is a relentless player that knows no bounds against the opposition. He is a willing and great teammate that will look to help the team in whatever capacity is needed, whether that is to be a person to set up plays to help the wings score, or a demoralizer to make sure the opponents have a tough time trying to avoid him, the ideas are endless. He is young, which in turn makes him a raw prospect. But with the right coaching and team fit, he will do wonders for the team that drafts him in S81. ![]() Registered Member
Name: Pierre LeBlanc
Position: RD Height: 6' 3" Weight: 220 lbs Date of Birth: [Insert DOB] Hometown: Sacré-Coeur, Quebec Current Team: Ottawa Highlanders (temp contract) League: SMJHL Pierre LeBlanc is an excellent two-way defender whose ability to read the game in both the offensive and defensive zone separates him from other prospects. In 12 regular season games for Ottawa, LeBlanc posted 7 points (1 G, 6 A), along 35 blocked shots and 12 hits. He was a crucial late addition for an Ottawa team that was looking to hold onto the #3 seed heading into playoffs. In the first round, he added on 7 more exciting games against Colorado, and while he only had 1 point, a goal, he was +4 and had more takeaways than giveaways. He also used the body more than in the regular season with another 12 hits and 8 blocks. While being on a second defensive pairing has pitted LeBlanc against great forward lines, he will need to continue to develop to hold down the zone against top lines. Coaches have discussed improving LeBlanc's shooting range to create a bigger threat from the blue line in the offensive zone, and also developing his stickhandling and passing to create opportunities for the young man to create breakouts and offensive rushes on his own. Overall, LeBlanc is a plus defender with a high ceiling as he continues to develop. His offensive game is decent for an undeveloped defenseman and will only continue to grow as he spends more time with the excellent coaching staffs in the SMJHL and SHL. Any team would be lucky to add LeBlanc given his work ethic and desire to win - some say he hates losing even more than he loves winning. We eagerly look forward to seeing how LeBlanc's career unfolds. ![]() Registered Senior Member
Pasta the turtle is tired of having to carry a defensive load. I have decided that it is time to be a power play quarterback. and by quarterback I mean goal scorer. I barely intend to pass the puck. Pucks on net all day, no matter the angle or distance from the net. I have a clear understanding of how blocking shots goes, so now is the time to do the opposite - bury pucks in the net.
While I still intend to line up as a defenceturtle, I will not be contributing to shot suppression, blocking or hitting, or really any defensive metric. I might not even enter the defensive zone. You will likely see me hovering around the opposition goalie, ready to blast a puck by him. There are only 2 stats I am interested in. Goals and shot percentage. I fully expect to lead the league in goals as a rookie and for as long as my dominance is allowed in the junior league. Furthermore, I anticipate a near 100% shot percentage. Any time I have a shot blocked, or somehow a goalie gets a glove on the puck, I am liable to have an emotinal breakdown. fortunately for whoever is drafting me, this will not happen once. I do have requirements as a non-human athlete in this league, which have been established with my previous venture in the league is season 59. I require a heating pad for between periods and a dedicated shell scrubber. While the scrubber will be less busy as my illustrious shell will maintain its glorious sheen as I will not be blocking or hitting, it is nevertheless important to have someone available in the offhand chance that I am too exuberant in my celebrations after scoring a hat trick in each period. ![]() ![]() Registered Used to be cool
Wilhelm “The Keiser” Seider joined the Colorado Raptors for their end of season playoff push and first round matchup against the Ottawa Highlanders. Scouts got a good chance to see the dynamic young German center in action and were impressed with how well his skillset translated into the North American SMJHL game.
Seider was approached early in the DFA window by the Colorado Raptors primarily due to his reputation as a solid teammate. SMJHL scouts know that being a solid locker room contributor is equally, if not more, important to GMs than on ice performance. It is a developmental league and having players that can help lift up and motivate their other SMJHL counterparts to stay focused and motivated to become the best version of their selves is the most important attribute. For these reasons, scouts have Seider rated as a first or second round talent. Outside of his off-ice leadership and other personality considerations, The Keiser showed scouts his two-way playmaker skills out of the gate. In his first 6 regular season games, Seider did not score a goal but registered 3 assists. He was responsible defensively with 3 takeaways (compared to 2 giveaways) with a -1 rating (in comparison to his teammates, not bad). In the playoffs, Wilhelm’s play continued to be strong. During the 7 game series, Wilhelm finished tied for 3rd on the team in scoring with 0 G and 4 A. He finished -2, which was better than most on the Raptors. Wilhelm Seider’s growing off-ice reputation and on-ice performance will make him a sought after target in the upcoming SMJHL draft. However, there are many highly touted prospects in this draft and where he ends up going is anyone’s guess. |
