[2x Team Spotlight] San Francisco Pride draft numbers
#1

Welcome to a new part of where are they drafted from? With part 5 being this week we will be seeing the San Francisco Pride being in the spotlight. Once again, for the rules please go back to the first article of this little series (Edmonton Blizzards). The link is findable at the end of this article.

The San Francisco Pride have (together with the Edmonton Blizzards) the lowest amount of draftees over this period, with only 29 players being drafted by the San Francisco Pride. Of these 29 there are also 10 who aren’t in the portal.

First off the season in which the draft took place. For the San Francisco Pride we see 2 big highlights with the season 68 draft seeing 5 draftees, and S70 draft seeing 4 draftees. After this comes the S66, S69, and S71 drafts with 3 each, then we see S62, S65, S67, and S75 with 2 draftees, and finally S63, S72, and S74 with 1 each.

Next up, in which rounds were the players drafted. Quickly obvious is that 14 of the 29 players were drafted in the 1st round. That means nearly half of all draftees were drafted in the first round. The other 15 has over half (9) going in the 2nd round, with 4 in the 3rd round, and 1 player being drafted in both the 4th, and 5th round.

In the next few charts the ones who aren’t in the index won’t be taken into account anymore, which means 10 players for the San Francisco Pride. So we will be continuing with 19 players.

First up the position of these 19 players. Surprisingly enough 0 of these players were goalies, with only 3 being in either of the wing positions. Then there are 4 draftees in both of the defensive positions, with the highest picked position being center with 5 draftees.

Next up is the J-round in which they were drafted, in this we have another 3 players who were taken in a waiver draft, which means we will have only 16 players for this part.

So onto the actual J-league draft part. The 16 San Francisco Pride draftees came only in 3 rounds, with 6 being in the 1st round, 5 in the 3rd round, and finally 4 in the 2nd round. Pretty equal between these 3 rounds, but not much exciting data.

Now to finish it off, the big question was where the players came from. The 19 players who joined the San Francisco Pride in drafts, we see them being divided between 11 teams. With both the Anchorage Armada, and the Kelowna Knights having 3 players each. Following this we got the Maine Timber, Quebec City Citadelles, Regina Elk, and Yukon Malamutes having 2 players each. Finally the other teams that got 1 of their players drafted by the San Francisco Pride are the Carolina Kraken, Colorado Raptors, Great Falls Grizzlies, Nevada Battleborn, and the St. Louis Scarecrows.

That was it for what the San Francisco Pride is concerned. But once again the total graph that shows all the J-team origins for the 5 teams done so far. I found out I can increase the graph size in the program, so maybe it won’t be as bad as first thought, still kinda messy though Smile
