Welcome everyone to the Season 54 World Junior Championship USA roster announcement!  Geekusoid and I feel we’ve selected a terrific mix of players from the veteran juniors to the up and coming rookies and we’re excited to see this group perform.  Having said that, I present the following up and coming USA players:

Forwards

Hubert Andrews Outlaws @hughesab This young playmaker is finishing up his first season with the Outlaws.  He played mostly sheltered minutes in Anaheim and finished up the season with a pair of goals and 3 assists, but he also went 53% in the dot and is considered to be defensively sound.

Sammy Blaze Falcons @hockeyfan Blaze is another S55 playmaking center who shows promise.  He finished the season on the Falcons with 3 goals and 6 assists and won 51.5% of his faceoffs.  Blaze does a lot of things well and should be a valuable member of team USA.

C.T. Carragher Outlaws @RainDelay Carragher had 15 goals and 15 assists for Anaheim this season.  He has great vision and carries the puck very well whether it’s leading the team on the rush or springing his wingers on the attack.

Ethan Duncan Knights @mastersheep I don’t really like talking about myself very much, but I will say I’ve had my best season so far scoring 11 goals and 21 assists along with a pretty good defensive game.

James Hagan Knights @CampinKiller Hagan did very well in his rookie season, notching 6 goals and 8 assists.  This speedy winger will certainly force the opposition to play conservatively whenever he is on the ice.

Eric Hudson Scarecrows @EricNCSU Hudson continues to climb in St. Louis, increasing his point totals from last season and scoring 9 goals and 24 assists for the Scarecrows.  He has zero problems sacrificing the body as evidenced by his 104 blocked shots, more than any other forward in the SMJHL.

Young Logo Scarecrows @Loganjj21 Logo has burst on to the scene with 4 goals and 17 assists and has a decent shot at rookie of the year.  He has a tremendous shot and is very quick which allows for him to make up for any defensive miscues.

Ethan Price Outlaws @Zomp Price is a wizard with the puck and dangles around defenses with ease.  He scored 22 goals and 16 assists in Anaheim, finished 3rd in powerplay goals, scoring 10 with the man advantage, and was also 3rd in shots with 175.

Lord Raiden Raptors @Jumbobone19 This guy just loves to score goals and even in limited icetime put up 9 for Colorado as he parked himself in front of the net waiting to put pucks in the net all season.  He is great at the faceoff dot too winning a remarkable 60.3% and leading the league as a rookie.

Patrick Shepherd Timber @Cobbenstein The second year player out of the great state of Maine really loves the defensive game and will limit the opposition’s chances.  Like Raiden, he is great at faceoffs and won 56.7% of his draws, good for 4th in the league.

Defense

Elwulf Jericson Scarecrows @Jericson Jericson is a physical beast and has great positioning.  He had 6 goals and 16 assists with St. Louis this season and also came up hitting opponents 75 times.  Look for him to have a significant role on Team USA’s blueline.

Sammy Koa Whalers @ThatDamnWalrus As a reserve player, Koa is expected to get some playing time as the schedule will be likely be fairly grueling.  In Vancouver, he had 8 assists, but was much more known for his hitting and shot blocking, putting up 151 and 87 respectively.

Colin Lambert Scarecrows @rum_ham Lambert is best known for his quick feet and solid decision making with the puck.  He had 7 goals and 18 assists which should make him one of the top candidates for rookie of the year.

Bork Lazer Armada @Frick_Nasty Lazer had a great season defensively, blocking 120 shots, good for second in the league.  He also had 3 goals and 12 assists for Anchorage and has no issue holding his own in a fight as he got into 6 scraps this past season and even a couple in the first round of the playoffs.

James LeBlond Outlaws @eMLBCommish LeBlond quarterbacks Anaheim’s powerplay and has great vision on both sides of the puck.  This season he had 8 goals and 21 assists, putting him sixth among all defensemen in scoring with about a third of his points (10) coming on the powerplay.

Teddy Park Knights @trashae Park is great at shutting down the opposition whether that be holding the blue line or checking opponents and keeping the puck out of his own end.  He had 3 goals and 16 assists for the Knights this season and isn’t afraid to drop the gloves once in a while.

Johnny Shuffleboard Whalers @mee The Whalers defense overall was underwhelming, but Shuffleboard had a great rookie season regardless.  He scored 4 goals and had 17 assists for Vancouver, using his tremendous speed to join the rush, body players out of the way, and create offense.

Terrence "Big Terry" Smith Raptors @Puljujarvi98 Smith is new to the game, but his game is very old school.  He’s not flashy, but he gets the job done, constantly keeping his opponents in check.  He scored a goal this season and notched 5 helpers with Colorado while playing limited minutes, something he expects to change soon.

Goaltending

A Jobin Falcons @"Awesomecakes" While Jobin’s team may have had a down year coming off their Four Star Cup win, it certainly isn’t because of him.  Jobin had a terrific 0.916 Save %, finishing first among starting goalies and was one of four goalies who saved over 1000 shots this season.

Strom Chamberlain Outlaws @Geekusoid It’s really good to have a cup winning goalie on your squad.  It’s even better to have two of them.  Chamberlain brings a lot of experience to this team and after struggling last season, he has come back with a 19-13-0 record and 2.89 GAA and .903 Save %.

Finally, we come to our new leadership group voted by the players.

Our second alternate captain is Pojo Biscuit. Armada @.bojo Biscuit finished his first full season with the Armada with a modest 5 goals and 11 assists, but was very good defensively stopping plenty of shots and laying into opponents.  He had 57 blocked shots and 105 hits and also had a strong Corsi For % relative to his teammates with 52.2% in total.

The first alternate is Danny Marston. Scarecrows @Capt_Blitzkrieg Marston has quietly had a career year.  As the top center in St. Louis, he has certainly produced for the team and ended up finishing 9th in scoring with 14 goals and 29 assists.

Lastly, we come to our Season 54 WJC captain:  Stan Hanson Kraken @LairdButler Hanson once again was voted as captain for Team USA by the players.  This big bruising player was having a great season with Anchorage, but ultimately ended up being shipped off to Carolina as the Kraken loaded up for the playoffs.  He put up 9 goals and 18 assists in total and had 97 hits.
