Makrus Adopts a wolf pt3- Calgary
#1

Calgary the city of Dragons, at least that is what Makrus knew it as. While looking for something to do in Calgary the crew decided to grab a bite to eat. Calgary had a variety of diverse food options. The group split up to get food and meet back at the truck. This is when Makrus saw what he was looking for. A sign that had the words fun, friends, adventure, alcoholic drinks, but mostly alcoholic drinks. The Calgary zoo presents fab forest a lock zoo experience for adults 18+. Perfect Makrus thought. We are all adults 18+. Makrus realized he did not know how old Robot or Narboza were but since they are an alien and a robot it should not be an issue. Makrus bought tickets and some wonderful Greek food. After meeting back at the truck Makrus did not tell the crew what he had planned. He was going to surprise them. When the crew arrived at the zoo, they were all a bit surprised. Even Makrus who did not remember the word zoo anywhere on the large Calgary zoo sign he saw earlier. But alcoholic beverages were still a thing and dinner was provided. Robot was not thrilled with the idea of a zoo. He had been in captivity as well before coming to Vancouver and felt bad for those poor animals. Narboza had not collected enough human samples yet to even consider starting to collect animal samples. The solution seemed clear, free the zoo animals. Sven made some valid arguments about freeing all the animals. The group agreed that they would have to choose on an animal-by-animal basis if freeing it was the correct choice. Now that the crew had made their decision it was time to enter the zoo.

Locked Zoo: Fab Forests is an outdoor-only escape game that will have you using wits and getting your steps in, while solving challenging puzzles with a team of clever friends. Your team will explore select areas of the zoo to find the clues, solve the puzzles, and save the day! There is plenty of animals to see along the way, beverages (including adult ones!) will be available for purchase and you will receive a delicious dinner box with each ticket. A malfunctioning zoo robot is attempting to encrypt the zoo’s data and spread misinformation about the animals. Only you can stop them. The short introduction video was compelling enough for Makrus. He was now on a mission to stop this robot and save the animals while freeing them maybe. The zoo seemed pretty nice and maybe these animals were happy here. This was going to take further analysis but first there is a robot to stop. Not our Robot of course he is doing fine. Getting passed security was a bit difficult. The usual temperature screenings they we have all grown accustomed to. Of course, Robot does not have a temperature and Narboza’s temperature is nothing like a human temperature. Luckily, Sven thought of this and slipped the screener a bribe to let us in.

Once inside the group was given a packet. This had the several challenges and puzzles on it. First things first drink orders. Second thing make Sven read the packet. Sven explained that the first take was the malfunctioning robot scrambled the food list for several animals. The group would need to visit each animal and write down the correct dietary food for the animal. If not, they could be fed the wrong food and that was not something Makrus was going to let happen. The rest of the crew realized pretty quick that Makrus was unaware this was a game, and the animals were in no real danger, but the alcohol was on his tab, so they were just going to see where this went. The group started with the first animals on the list. The American Black Bears. They then preceded to visit the black and white colobus monkeys, rock hyraxes, Eurasian wild boars, Japanese macaques, straw-colored fruit bat, grizzly bears, mandrills, leopard tortoises and lastly the red pandas. After seeing all the animals Sven checked the sheet Makrus had been keeping. For black bears Makrus put “whatever they want they are fucking bears”. For grizzly bears he put “Probably people” and naturally for Leopard Tortoises he put “Pasta if they want to have enough energy to play hockey”. Sven did not actually care about the contest, so he gave Makrus a thumbs up and they moved on to the next challenge.

The second Challenge was a word scramble. Having an advanced alien life form and a robot on the team seemed like cheating but Narboza had been drinking 5 drinks around the whole time. The benefit to having 5 hands. Robot offered to help but Makrus was going to try it on his own first. Sven was fine letting Makrus fail at spelling words until he overheard another group. That group also had a Sven on it. Sven was not going to be second Sven even in a zoo scavenger hunt. He took the form from Makrus and between him and robot corrected the answers on page one, leaving in a side not that pasta is a good energy sources for Tortoises if they want to play hockey, and solving the riddles on page 2. Page 3 was using a set of animal names to complete sentences. Sentences like “this is un-bear-able” and “you have got to be kitten me”. Once this was complete, they raced back to the registration desk. The lady behind the desk noted that pasta would not be good food for tortoises but Makrus pointed out Pasta the Turtle is a carbohydrate powered turtle. Sven pointed out the Pasta the Turtle was probably a tortoise but Makrus did not think so. They put a $50 bet on it to be determined later.  Sven got his completion pin and went to find the other Sven so he would know who the superior Sven was. Other Sven was utterly defeated. After enjoying his victory Sven returned to the registration table but the crew was not there. A security guard approached him asking if he was with the troublemakers. Sven then noticed the animatronic malfunctioning robot was destroyed. Sven followed the security guard to the office where he found Robot trying his best to keep Narboza from fighting guards. Makrus had attacked the animatronic robot to save the zoon animals. When security intervened things got out of hand, or five. After discussing the matter Makrus paid a fine and they could leave. When they got backed to the truck Makrus realized they did not release any of the zoo animals. Robot assured him that after reviewing the rehabilitation status of the animals they were in good hands. Robot also slipped SHL recruitment forms in the animal pens. Never know when one of them might want to start playing hockey. There were still a few hours of daylight left so the crew got an early start on the road. Not knowing where tomorrow would take them. What will become of our off-season hockey players? Tune in next time to find out.
