I actually decided that I wanted to me a Swiss player and then went to the Elite Prospects page for the Swiss U20 World Junior Championships page. I saw the first name "Rocco", thought it sounded cool. Saw the last name "Berni", thought it went well with Rocco. And voila, Rocco Berni was born.

In my other leagues, every name I’ve come up with for my players have either been American, British, or a meme, so this time I wanted to go outside of the anglosphere. I know a lot of people would have gone Russian in a hockey league, so I decided Japan would be a unique route to go.

My player name is a bit morbid. Guy LeGrande was a death row inmate that was deemed too crazy to execute. I found it ironic that a killer would be sane to begin with. So the more I read, the more I liked his sick ass name. I hope my player doesn't display too many of his namesakes flaws.

As many people know on the site, my name is Teddy. And if you haven't guessed, my real name is Edward (yeah, yeah, Teddy is a nickname for Edward, get over it). I just chose my own name when I joined because I didn't realize people did such funny names like Poopity Scoop or whatever. And then I just chose a common British last name so I could make my player from England. Hence, Edward Williams was born. Renegades

Vítek Víteček. Vítek is not even a real name. In Czech language, it's just a nickname for Vítězslav. Vítek just goes much better with the last name Víteček.

The story behind my player's name is very simple. Abel Skinner is my great great grandfather's name and I decided to honor him in this strange way. He was a Welsh coal miner and so my hockey playing Abel is from Wales as well.

This goes back to Yahoo RPG chats back in like 1996. My first character was named Joshua Chamberlain, and that name I've used in probably every conceivable fashion. He's been a solider (based on the real life Joshua Chamberlain), a Knight, a Liche, and who knows what else (the latest iteration was a Ship Captain for a Halo based milsim group).

Strom on the other hand, is a secondary RPG character that also started back in Yahoo chats back in 2000. Strom is the elder brother of Joshua and fills the classic paladin role (for you D&D guys out there). The mainstay "realms" that I worked with them in were called "Ayenee" and "Starthra". If any of those names ring a bell here, I may just freak out. Anywho, there's a long genealogy of the Chamberlain Family. Who knows, they may just all become hockey players next o_0

Mine is an old story some may remember the cartoon The Mighty Hercules? As a kid I used to wake up early to watch it and laugh as it was so bad it was entertaining! Hercules's nemesis was Daedalus the evil Wizard and his cat Dido. That is where it comes from as those two were the funniest of them all. The cat meowed like a human that said the word meowwwwwww and when Daedalus got caught he would get carried away yelling yeeeeeeeooooooooooowwwwwwwww! It has stuck with me over the years so is a character for me alot.

Oh yeah... and my middle name is James. Smile

Kata Vilde has a great story behind the name. Using Sweden as a nationality and being billed as the illegitimate son of Randy Macho Man Savage, Kata Vilde is actually Swedish for Randy Savage.

Grape Fruit was the first thing to pop in my head when creating my player. I'm not even sure why because I don't even like grapefruit but it has served me well thus far.

Basically I decided from the beginning that I was creating a player from the USA and thought of Duncan Keith when I was starting to create a player name. So unfortunately, this is nothing special. Just a generic player name. Whenever I decide to recreate (in 3 IRL years probably), it will be a much more interesting name.

I watch a lot of the Youtuber CallMeKevin, and in one video he was playing Mario Kart with some of his friends and he played as a Mii with a messed up face named TURG. I basically ripped it from there and made that his first and last name because I like the way TURG TURG sounds.

The story behind Zelma Zuntnere is not that interesting. Zelma is the name of one of my favourite Latvian artists - VIŅA (Zelma Jēgere). And the surname is a pretty interesting, old Latvian surname. There ain't a lot of people with a name like that so it seemed like a good mix.

Well its not really hard to figure out my name. It comes from my favorite anime and one of my favorite goofy ass captains and the star of the show. It has nothign to do with the animal.

So the background behind my player's name is actually really crazy, almost too crazy to dive into in such a short written task. Probably needs it's own media article to really dive into the details. To sum it up though, I looked at my birth certificate and copied it into the form here when creating my player.
