I think it would be clear enough just by reading my user name what the branding is that I have in mind. Something that is revolved around a bear would really be intriguing for me. Maybe even having the same color scheme like Boston, but the Bear would really put it over the top for me
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Tampa Bay and could not see anything pulling me away from there. Well, except for a good Chocobo. Who doesn't want a giant chicken-ostrich to ride around on.
I really want a Philadelphia team. I don't care what the color is, I don't care what the logo is as, I just really want to play for a Philadelphia team. That's my local city and I love it with all my heart and want nothing more than to represent what I love even in the simulated world.
If there is an European team, I would love to play on it. I doubt there will be though. But there might be a team in Hawaii. Asclepius loves watching Hawaii Five-0 and his favourite song is Somewhere Over The Rainbow. He could get a bit lazy sitting on the beach but I would support him and allow to play in Hawaii.
So uhh, as a Calgary/Toronto NHL fan with roots in both cities, it's hard to think of a non-existing team I'd go to. Barring leaving to join someone I know well, there isn't a non-Calgary city I'd really consider going to purely for branding. But just because we already have a team in Calgary doesn't mean we can't put a team in Calgary again, right?
First off, if there was a team ever named the Regina Slayers, I'd have to go there. It's a good ol' hockey name, and I watched Shrek the Musical in Regina once upon a time. It has very limited, but still meaningful connection to me due to that. Plus, the name is simply too funny to pass up. For example, if @overdoo ran a team like this, I'd be there in a heartbeat.
Character wise I'd have to consider the implications on Foley as a person on if the unlikely scenario of a team in Red Deer came to fruition. The Red Deer Rebels are an irl team, they have a stadium, and Foley is a Red Deer b'y. Regardless of the branding, for character reasons I'd have to strongly consider moving Foley 2 hours south to play in his home town. If not immediately, at least at some point down the road.
Finally, there are a couple Calgary-centric locations I'd have to consider. First off, where are the Dragons currently located? I had to do some research.
I checked the video on constructing the Parm-dome (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2bMuJqUFzw) and found the skyline did not accurately resemble the Calgary skyline (lack of Calgary tower, 7 seconds in that large sky-scraper esque building isn't in Calgary, and that whole downtown area is un-Calgary). The only definitive location given is here and that is decidedly inaccurate given the construction of the Big Parm (see: https://simulationhockey.com/showthread....e+Big+Parm). Shit. The only clue is that the metro-downtown area features hot-dog and parm stands for people to get food. So does that mean the stadium is downtown? Referring back to the youtube video for construction they show a snippet of the land plot being used in the first few seconds. That shows an I-15 road (which doesn't exist in Calgary) and Russell Rd. Russell Road does exist in Calgary (albeit, not in the specifications of the video) and therefore we can nail down a location. Based upon the video, The Big Parm is in NE Calgary by Deerfoot Atheltic park, more specifically across the Deerfoot highway.
With the understanding of The Big Parm's current location, there are a few spots I think could fit a team. Okotoks is already home to a baseball team and would be able to sustain a rink nearby it. It is further away from Calgary than I remembered so that complicates the outlook of putting a Calgary branded team there. The other though I have is to make use of the vast empty, developing land in Springbank (Southwest of Calgary) to build a rink. There are plenty of rich fucks there so the team would have instant backing, would be nearby to the city of Calgary, and would have an instant rivalry with the Blizzard and Dragons.
I am pretty happy in Texas now a days and I am one of their top dogs. But if there comes a long a team in Montreal or Portland I could see me join them.

For the safety of those I care about, it's important that I note that ml has made it very clear that if I leave Toronto, he knows exactly where my family is. If we lived in a world where I wasn't paralysed by fear, a London team would appeal to me. Despite being from London, Jay Sink is the first sim league character I've made that was born there. It's featured in a couple of articles I and others have written about Sink and so it'd be nice from a narrative standpoint to have Jay return home. There's also a lot of potential for jokes and memes about being Bri'ish and eating beans on toast, and memes are the most important thing for any expansion team. (126 words)
The branding I would love to play for is the Salisbury Scrapple Sandwiches (SSS). Scrapple is very big on the eastern shore of Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. And if you have never had it, it is amazing. Primary color would be Orange and secondary color would be Blue. Logo would just be a scrapple sandwich as such:
How could you say no to play for a team whose branding is food. I know I couldn't and I would love to play for the Scrapple Sandwiches. My current GM in Baltimore could even make the Sandwiches for every game.
First of all, were we really shocked? An expansion was in the rumors of being sooner rather than later for months before it was announced. The expansion was no real surprise unless you were expecting fourth lines, which for some reason has a couple of people are being heavily opposed to implementing and so far, has not enough people wanting them for it to be a reasonable expectation.
For my actual answer. I love it in New England. The price they paid to get the first pick and taking me shows me what value they put on me and I have no real interest in moving away. I intend to finish my time in the SHL playing for the Wolfpack. Yeah, sure, there maybe are teams I do like in one or the other way but as a person outside North America I lack a lot of the classical connections to cities/states/locations in general.
My favorite non existing potential team is a bad joke. The Hawaii Pizzas. I already made the case for putting the hall of fame in Hawaii because they are never going to have their own team. If however Hawaii actually got a team, I think I would be okay going there, especially with the Pizzas branding. Not only is it a “funny” reference to a pizza, but it would also drive at least half of the SHL mad because of the irrational hate for pineapple on pizza.
Another team I could see myself really wanting to play for is the team “Seattle Wonders”. They were a fictional team in a book series I read as a child and I were close to basing my player on one of the fictional players in that book series. The nostalgia and “history” I feel for that team is on another level and I do hope to see them in the league one day. That said, I do like the current Seattle branding as well and I mean no offense to Tig and his players.
The third and final thing I might give up on New England would be if we somehow got a European and more specifically, a Swedish team. Now, the possibility of this happening in any kind of close future is probably low. I have however seen that a few other people have discussed teams outside US/Canada. While a Swedish team is without a doubt the biggest attraction, any team outside the normal borders would be a fun experience.
To sum it up I guess that for a new expansion team to be something I want to leave for it would need to fill some of these aspects: “Funny/annoying” branding, nostalgic/personal connection, “different/new” location.
Valtterri Kauppinen just got settled into New Orleans after being traded from Tampa Bay, there's no way he's going to uproot himself so quickly once again. The only city expansion team that would have even a slim chance of ripping him away from the Specters would be a colder, snowier place. Somewhere in Canada, perhaps - Ottawa, Montreal, and Yellowknife are a few candidates, even if the former two are some of the most basic expansion destinations that could possibly exist.
Dom's never been one to care much about team name or branding (he was on the Halifax Raiders when everyone liked to make fun of them and he loved that team with all his heart), but what he does care about is being near family and marina communities for his sailboat. So the only team that could really make him want to leave his friends on the Inferno would probably have to be something like the Detroit Wings, and that won't be existing any time soon, since the Falcons of the SMJHL have been there for quite a while now and the SMJHL wouldn't want the SHL coming in, trying to take away from their ticket sales.

i think a cool place for branding would be somwhere in canada, as we still don't have a ton of teams up here. Somewhere in the maritimes or quebec would be cool, like halifax or montreal.
I'm sure if the team was branded New New England Wolfpack and had all the same people, I'd probably end up there. Or if it was the sasquatches and the team was given the strength of a sasquatch, that'd be neat.
Anton would love to go Seattle Wonders, since it was one of my favorite book series when I was young/teen.. I still dreaming about having Seattle Wonders here in SHL.
