S62 PT#5: Champion???

For Prompt Two, God I wish I could win a cup. I mean it is like the one thing that Joseph Weston wants to cap off his career. You might even say he wants it to ACap off his career. Would that not be the day? To win the Calgary Dragons would most likely have to find their way through the Seattle Argonauts, the Los Angeles Panthers, and potentially maybe the Edmonton Blizzard instead of one of those teams. After that it would be either the Chicago Syndicate or the Texas Renegades, and then most likely the Buffalo Stampede or the Hamilton Steelhawks in the finals. That would be such an impossible path to the top that it is practically impossible, and there is no reasonable way to expect anything to come of that. That would be the most amazing way to win the cup but good lord how could that ever happen in FHM, thanks FHM. So happy to be here.

The playoff tree for the Anchorage Armada to win the Four Star cup would probably be getting a first round bye, playing a team like the Colorado Raptors in the second round. Third round, the Armada would likely play a team like the Detroit Falcons before finally matching up against hte Vancouver Whalers or Nefoundland Berserkers in the Four Star Cup final. It would be a hard fought series, having to go to seven games between the two juggernaut teams in the SMJHL but hte Armada would eventually triumph nad Mikhail Novikov would get to hoist the trophy that has evaded him for his 5 year SMJHL career - the Four Star Cup. It looks like a similar playoff tree could happen this season, and hopefully it does so Novikov can finally win a Four Star Cup before moving up to play with the Buffalo Stampede in the SHL. But we will have to wait and see who is on top at the end of it all.

Prompt one

The stage is set, the Superstars vs the Grizzled Vets. Two teams who are very similar. Not too long ago the Vets were the Superstars and in no time at all the Superstars will be considered the Vets. But tonight, the two will compete to see who is the best this time around. The Superstars come out flying to take an early two goal lead and at the end of the first that how it stands. But the 2nd starts with a second wind for the Vets. 2 quick goals by the seasoned vets shows they know what needs to be done to win. The third period starts at the 2-2 deadlock and 15 minutes in this game looks like it is destined for overtime. The Vets seem to be showing their age, slightly, and a failed defensive zone clearance puts the in a bad spot. But ZLyle Odelein does what he does best, he comes up huge with a timely block which surely would have been a goal. Odelein controls the puck after the block and finds a streaking Mika Kandinsky who breaks in alone and scores the go ahead goal. The Vets hold on and secure the win and the championship!! The Veterans put all of their skill and know how to work and got the job done.

Prompt 2

In a perfect world, the playoff tree for the Buffalo Stampede would probably look something like Round 1: Winnipeg Aurora Round 2: Manhattan Rage Round 3 : Montreal Patriotes Finals: New Orleans Specters. Obviously, this is extremely unrealistic seeing as these are the 4 bottoms teams and they are all not even in the eastern conference, but this is a perfect world. I would suspect that the Buffalo Stampede would clean sweep the first two rounds with relative ease. Not that I don't think the other teams have a chance, but that's just how it is. To humble the team a bit we will suffer one loss to Montreal, and once more in the finals against New Orleans. The MVP of our run would more than likely be Elizabeth Doyle since I doubt these teams could probably put up a ton of goals against her. I also have no idea how to guess who our points leader during this run would be.

THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO PROMPT TWO, ALSO KNOWN AS THE SECOND PROMPT. THESE WORDS ARE FREEEEEE.

Every great playoff tree starts with a great, thick playoff trunk - a grindy test to prove who is the greatest branch.. or twig. The tree analogy is falling through. The Baltimore Platoon's journey to the greatest tree-accolade in the Simulation Hockey Tree-eague starts with Sapling-lanta. The two treeams met last in a playoff scope in S60 where Saplanta took the series in 6 games. GUESS WHAT. Times have changed - In S62, The Platoon pulped the InFERNo in 5 games.

Next up the playoff tree is the playoff tree body, also known as the second round, also known as the as the semi-finals. Tamba Bay Barracuda. Those darn fish. What are they doing in a tree? IT DOESN'T MATTER. We're gonna take 'em in 6. Then the tree is just a head and the head of a tree is pretty useless without its body. So when we face Hamilton in the conference finals, we'll suck the xylem right outta their TUBES (Note: this is NOT how trees or treeams work). I think we'll smash them in 6.

All that's left is Trhicago. The Twigdicates will fall to our superior... uh... camaradertree. UGGGHHHHHH

PROMPT 2

If we're able to win another Cup, it'll most certainly be on the back of our defense and goaltending. With Jobin patrolling the pipes and elite defenders like Hugh Jazz back there, we have as good a shot as any team still around in the playoffs. I think Chicago would be our toughest challenge and with their current 2-0 lead on Texas, it looks like they'll be punching their tickets through to the next round in short order. But before we get there, we have to not only dispatch Buffalo, but we need to do it in convincing fashion. We know we're getting everyone's best shot this year in the postseason so we cannot leave any doubt. We almost let New England come back on us despite being up 3-0 and that got not just our fans nervous, but some of us in the locker room as well. It's time to cement Hamilton as a new dynasty and take care of business all the way to another cup title. If it's Chicago that we do face, they will certainly give us the toughest of tests in what was widely predicted as a potential finals matchup in the preseason. Excited to get back to work and hopefully win some more hardware.

PROMPT 2

While Great Falls was unfortunately swept in the first round by the Nevada Battleborn, we'll just ignore that and say that Great Falls actually swept Nevada. Get rekt, nerds. Anyway, then the Grizzlies would have to face off against Vancouver, in a rematch of last year's quarterfinal. Except this time Great Falls would take it to the Whalers, resulting in a series victory in 6 games. Great Falls would then go up against the Anchorage Armada, and in a result that would really shock everyone, sweep the dreaded boats to earn a matchup in the Four Star Cup Final. It is here that the Grizzlies would go up against their other divisional rival, Carolina. The Kraken may have won the division this season, but Great Falls is a young and hungry team, ready to make history. In a series that went the full 7 games, Great Falls would emerge victorious with the first Four Star Cup in the franchise's history.

Prompt 2:

So in order for Los Angeles to win the cup, there are a few miracles that probably need to happen along the way. First off our opponent in round one is going to be the Pride. Now this is a good start as we have dominated them all season long. They key is going to be that Minnesota upsets Texas and Edmonton upsets Chicago in round one. As long as those two things happen it doesn't really matter who else wins at that point. It seems like LA has struggled against Minnesota, so as long as we don't face them it will be an easy path to the Cup Finals. on the other end of things, New England needs to upset Hamilton, Atlanta needs to beat Baltimore, Toronto beat Buffalo, and Philadelphia beat Tampa Bay. As long as those 4 upsets happen it greatly increases our chances of winning. From that point forward our easiest victory would either be Atlanta or Philadelphia in the Cup Finals.

Prompt Two

Well, we won our first round playoff series against the Anaheim Outlaws, securing the win in six games - that’s the good news.  All in all, it was a good series for the Timber, with an abundance of goals and strong goaltending.  The bad news?  Maine got absolutely bodied by the Newfoundland Berserkers, dropping four straight for the clean sweep.  Fortunately, prompt number two gives me the ability to rewrite history, outlining how the Trees could hoist the Four Star Cup in an alternate universe.

I’ll assume the we still defeated the Outlaws inside of six games.  So, let’s revisit that ass kicking courtesy of those dastardly zerkers.  Playing against them fair and square probably didn’t make a lot of sense - they finished ahead of us in the standings, after all.  As a result, in universe B, we will lean on Big Newf - league leader in PIMs and hits - to take out the opposing squad’s best players.  In fact, this will be our strategy for every subsequent game and series, with all of our players going full goon.  After dispatching the Berserks, our squad of ornery goons will go on to defeat the Kraken and Whalers, winning the title and setting records for most fights won and lost in a playoff run.  How many games did it take to win these series?  One.  We won what Shang Tsung would call a “flawless victory” in every series.
