S63 mPT #3: CUZ BABY TONIGHT 3
(This post was last modified: 02-04-2022, 01:36 AM by unconfident69.)

I've never really enjoyed talking about music because I feel like I have very basic taste and I guess that's embarassing lol, but this hit kinda hard from all too well.

And you call me up again just to break me like a promise
So casually cruel in the name of being honest

So I have 2 different favorite song lyrics. "No I won't back down" is the first. No matter how badly we are losing, I always strive to do my best.  The second is "Always stay humble and kind." It's always a good idea to keep yourself in check off the ice.

Gonna take mine from The Greatest Generation album that The Wonder Years put out in 2013, from "Passing Through A Screen Door".

"Jesus Christ, I'm 26
All the people I graduated with
All have kids
All have wives
All have people who care if they come home at night
Well, Jesus Christ, did I fuck up?"

It's the delivery of that last line by Soupy that really sells it. I had just recently turned 27 before this album came out and I didn't have my life sorted out at all. It just really resonated with me. Also, banger of a fucking album if you've never listened to TWY.

BONUS RUNNER UP:

From the album Under Soil and Dirt by The Story So Far, this little bit from "High Regard".

"Barter and trade, always passive-aggressive
In spite of who you say you are
Smother my name under soil and dirt in the earth
Widen the distance apart
Fuck an apology, I'm not sorry for anything
I've been holding back my apathy for far too long
You don't deserve what you haven't earned
And your place in my heart has just grown so small"

I had been through a really bad break-up from a toxic relationship prior to this album coming out, and the majority of album is basically a big "fuck you" to Parker's ex, and this is the definitive modern pop-punk break up album imo.

One of my favorite songs, and something I can use for so many different applications, is Vocal Test by Integrity. When I'm looking to get pumped up for the day? Vocal Test. When I'm frustrated and I need to blow off steam? Vocal Test. When I'm super excited about something? Vocal Test. When I'm finishing? Vocal Test.

Lyrics: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!"

My favourite lyrics must be from Avicii's song Hey Brother, they meant a lot to me during a dark period of my life and helped me hang on and find some positivity

Uh I guess here comes the Sun. Really any lyrics from the song, just a great message about it will always get better. Try it it works. I don’t know if this is in the spirit of the prompt but it’s my answer

CW: Explicit Words

I would have to say that I love the sounds of music, even more than words themselves.  I live for an awesome drop in a song, a beautiful harmony, a dope bass line, and or just something that makes you want to move.

I'd have to say my favorite lyrics are, "Turn the ****ing bass up.", by Bassjackers & MAKJ - DERP. This song was played twice at our wedding reception, and it just reminds me of Sconnie and I walking out for the first time as a married couple, and also at the end of the night when only our wedding crew were left at the venue, and our friends fired off some confetti at the drop of this song.  Good memories.  I'd marry Sconnie again.

I'd probably have to go with something by The Weeknd right now for my favourite lyrics. Nothing super relatable but his songs are always super catchy and give me a couple great lines I find myself singing over and over again. Heartless off of After Hours is my go to right now.

Why? 'Cause I'm heartless
And I'm back to my ways 'cause I'm heartless
All this money and this pain got me heartless
Low life for life 'cause I'm heartless

Incredible thoughts
Incredible minds
I'm so overwhelmed
How did my brain conceive them?
A snow-white dove in the pitch-black night
A rain drop falls from tremendous heights
A wave crashes off of a cliff in Scotland
A child bites an apple, but the core is rotten
TV is free, but what is the cost?
We have GPS and yet, we're still lost
A carrot in the desert, a camel in the garden
A man with giant ears begging your pardon
What if a garbage man was actually smart?
A common misconception that we're tearing apart
And to a dog, dog food is just food
And to a sock, a mansion's just a big shoe
A Milk Dud, sitting in the acid rain
A housecat addicted to the cocaine
No teeth, unlimited floss
These are just a few of our incredible thoughts
Incredible thoughts, incredible minds
Too many great ideas inside
It's a miracle my head can contain them
My spectacular brain
For all humankind
Changing how we think about space and time
Now it's time to share them with the people
A ballerina waits for the bus
A number-one dad trophy covered in rust
An nun dunked in basketball living the impossible
A man breaks his leg inside a hospital
We just thought of that and it can change the world
World like a smart oyster full of pearls
Such as has an ultrasound of a new baby
With a Santa hat drawn on, yeah that's my kind of Christmas card
What if a butterfly was made out of butter?
These small thoughts could destroy Big Brother
The world's cutest kittens just hugging a dog
Just one of our incredible thoughts
What if one thought could cure the people?
What if one song could end all evil?
Imagine if a fish could play guitar
And also sing, it would sound bizarre like
"My name is Mr. Fish
These guys thoughts have granted my wish"
And that may have just changed the course of time
I swear my mind blows my mind, incredible
Incredible thoughts, incredible minds
Too many great ideas inside
It's a miracle my head can contain them
My spectacular brain
For all humankind
Changing how we think about space and time
Now it's time to share them with the people, my brain is a genius
Incredible thoughts
Incredible minds
I'm so overwhelmed
How did my brain conceive them?

These lyrics are all incredible thoughts and i am not sure how the amazing talents manage to think of them. If only other people in this league also thought before they posted lyrics then the league would be a much better place.

''Nothing can stop me, I'm all the way up''

These words can kick me off and convince me even when things seem to have been lost and the worst point in my career has come.

I honestly dont really listen to songs with lyrics in it. Usually some sort of instrumental funk or guitar so anything with a dope bass line would be something that just gets my hype and in a good mood.

From Luke Combs' song "1, 2 Many":

There's no stopping me once I get goin'
Put a can in my hand, man I'm wide ass open
The tick-tock of that clock is like a time bomb
By half past ten, I'm half past tipsy
At quarter to 12, man I've done had plenty
The countdown's on when the first beer hit me
Five, four, three, two, one, too many

Describes me when I go out for some drinks

I'm a big fan of the band Rise Against, and they have so many lyrics I could pick from. One of my favourite songs is Disparity by Design, which starts of with some of my favourite lyrics:

All the way at the bottom of the barrels, we cry out
So ashamed of our tears that we blame only ourselves
That's when they win, they keep us convinced
To lift up our chins, these playing fields are level
"We all have a chance", with that they dismiss
The fast lanes they rode
On which access depends on who you know
Or where you came from
Whose daughter are you? Whose fortunate son?
We're told to stick out our thumbs
They feast from the linens while we settle for crumbs

100 Percent Reason to Remember the Name.

This is just silly, Mike Shinoda over here making up percentages and such. I think this was actually written by @ZootTX now that I'm looking at it.

Favourite lyrics is a difficult one as its not something I really think about listening to music.
I'll go with a weird one, I love a bit of Sabaton for mixing metal and history. Why not go for the one they did about Scotland:
Rally all the clans
Englishmen advance
Blood of Bannockburn
Point of no return
Join the Scottish revolution
Freedom must be won by blood
Now we call for revolution
Play the pipes and cry out loud
