S80 mPT #0: What Is 80 Anyway? Due: Sunday, December 15th @ 11:59 PM PST

In the way that we look at milestones, even if 75 is near 80, I believe every new decade in the league is a huge accomplishment for something that's been organized via volunteer work only. It should definitely be celebrated.

S80 already? Wow 9 seasons go by pretty fast doesn't it. Anyways, every season added to the league (although it might not look as pretty as 100) is a huge achievement for the SHL and should have the respect of everyone.

I think 75 is a milestone, and the next milestone shouldn't be until 100. 80 seasons is a great accomplishment and no reason why it can't be recognized but I certainly wouldn't call it a milestone.

I really think S80 is a big milestone. Some other leagues are around S50 to be at 80 is a very big deal.

Has anybody ever celebrated an 80th anything more than a 75th anything? Does it matter? Personally, I like that 75 is a neat 3/5 of a century rather than 4/5, but at the end of the day it really doesn't matter at all.

I'd say 80 as a celebration point might be a bit more unorthodox than 75 but it's still divisible by 10 so I can understand a desire to celebrate it.

any number divisible by 10 is a pretty good milestone, and shows the league still has plenty of momentum, but its also so close to the big 75. I think a small celebration is in order. the usual cake and drinks and fireworks. but otherwise, business as usual.

I feel like celebrating every 25 seasons (about 50 months, so about 4 years) instead of every 10 (about 20 months, so just under 2 years) is definitely far more special, so I would probably keep the 75 as the higher value milestone

Eh, 80 is an impressive number to reach but I don't really think it counts as a 'milestone'. Something to be proud of, sure.

I think the 75th season has more of an appeal/ring to it that will make it more important than the 80th season. Both are testaments to just how great the league is and how long it's been going, but I think S80 will be less celebrated than S75.

80 definitely just feels like a stepping stone. If we celebrated EVERY 10th season it would make sense. But the S75 celebration felt like much more of an accomplishment.

I feel like big milestones are celebrated every 25 years at least. I don't think season 80 is anything special in a sense but it is still insane how the league is still going when started in 2011

I have no explanation for it but I feel like that 80th season is not a significant enough milestone to be celebrated. I guess because it is like that in other leagues aswell.

While making it to season 80 is a fantastic achievement, it truly is just a stepping stone to season 100. Celebrations are important to history, but too many and you risk diluting how impactful they feel overall. Multiples of 25 are a great way to allow time to pass, but still allow for celebrations often enough that they do not feel to spaced out. Season 100 will truly be an amazing accomplishment for the site.

The 80th season feels more like a stepping stone than a milestone. Maybe a small celebration, like throwback jerseys, a commemorative logo, or highlighting league history. Save the big party for 100!
