I do like it the more I think about it. It’s always good to try some new things, thanks to whoever came up with this concept. First of all, having more players is nice, as there’s a lot of users putting effort in their players, so it’s good that more users get some recognition and there will also be more people interested in the event in general. Secondly, the tournament format makes it a lot more interesting, as it makes it feel like more of a competition. Having four teams is good in the sense that nobody will want to be the last team, whereas many would like to win it all. A single two-team game gives a fifty-fity chance, so it might feel a bit like a coin flip. And thirdly, including Hall of Fame members is a great way to not only honor the all time greats, but it could also cause some fun crossovers among players from different generations.

3. What would you do to spice up the new All-star format even further?
The problem with all star games in a lot of sports is the fear of injuries and lack of competitiveness, due to there being nothing to win besides a tiny amount of glory, maybe. So adding some kind of a prize to the winning team, whether it would be money or something else, would be quite interesting and could make it even spicier. As we don’t need to worry about injuries either, this would eliminate both the key issues of all star games! And while we’re at it, why not make the semi final losers also play a meaningful game at the end of the tournament as well. Each player of the losing team will have their next salary, in full, donated to a charity of their choice.

I think the new format is awesome! It lends itself to significantly more drama, there are more slots to give more of the league's users a chance to see their players in an allstar setting, and the only real drawback is more work for the allstar team, which they seem to have taken on voluntarily! Of course, Grzegorz still didn't make it in this year, because Justin Time is not mortal, but that's not on the new format. (78 words - 1 TPE)
To spice up the new allstar format even further, encourage fighting and allow goalie fights. Especially allow goalie fights. And let Grzegorz and Justin finally have one out at center ice. Everyone loves hockey fights, and everyone loves goalie fights most of all. Part of their appeal is that they're just that rare, yes, but the SHL has a significant problem right now in that goalie fights NEVER happen! To my knowledge there hasn't been a single goalie fight in the history of the league! This is a travesty and a sham. Goalies have just as much right to throw hands as any common goon skater. It's unacceptable and a crime against hockey humanity that we don't have goalie fights in this league. Let goalies fight. The allstar game is the best possible place to do it. Goalies can throw down without letting their teams down, taking stupid penalties in games that actually matter, or abandoning the net while the puck is in play. Imagine the roar of the crowd when they see the goalies shaking off their massive gloves and circling each other center ice, then charging and throwing haymakers until someone loses his balance. The victorious goalie raises his stick in triumph! The crowd goes wild! That allstar game is talked about for decades! The fact that this can't happen under the current league rules is obscene. While obviously a bit biased and doing some insider baseball, the main thing I've been considering for future Expos is increasing the team count to make the round robin matter more. The downside to this is that not everyone would get to see their players in the playoff portion. That's always been okay for a longer/larger tournament like the IIHF but not getting to participate in part of the ASG could be frustrating for users.
The initial idea was to add both the J All Star teams for a total of 6. But the timeline for the file work is pretty complicated and the J squads will be inherently under powered, so I'm not convinced it would add much competitiveness or interest. Maybe it's okay that the J teams never make the knock out round, would have to gauge user feedback.
The second idea was to add a fifth team made entirely of Hall of Fame players. It's not clear if that team would be inherently more powerful than the current player teams, though it seems likely. And this could compound the feels-bad when a divisional team doesn't make the knockouts since now you not only don't get to see your player but you're instead watching players for users who may not even be around anymore.

After being traded to the Chicago Syndicate, he took his game to another level, shattering career highs in goals, assists, and points. His impact on the Syndicate’s offense was undeniable, helping drive the Sydnicate to having a much more dangerous attack. While the competition is tough, MattyJ’s case is clear. He wasn’t just benefiting from great line mates, he was the catalyst, creating scoring chances and stepping up in key moments. His underlying stats back it up, with solid possession numbers and an ability to tilt the ice in his team’s favor. The vote might be close, but if the awards committee truly digs into the numbers, MattyJ’s breakout season stands out. He proved he’s not just a solid player, but that he is a star in the making, and this award would be the perfect recognition of his rise.

Hope you are doing well. I just wanted to say how much I love Super Blood Hockey. It is the perfect mix of chaos, brutality, and pure hockey fun. The arcade style brawls and nonstop action make it a go to for me in the offseason. Speaking of the offseason, I have big plans. After getting traded to Chicago a few years back, I am focusing on speed, conditioning, and sharpening my playmaking. I want to come back stronger than ever, ready to make a real impact. But in between workouts and ice time, you can bet I will be squeezing in a few rounds of Super Blood Hockey. Nothing like some pixelated brawls to keep the competitive fire burning. Thanks for creating such an awesome game. If you ever want to add a power forward who thrives in the chaos, I would be honored to be the character model.
2. Do you like the new format? Why or why not?
While I do like the new format from a match point, of seeing which of the 4 divisions can make a stronger team than the others which in my opinion can be more interesting than the conference way of before, I do kind of dislike the fact that this new system does mean that most players who have managed to get to a first line on a not completely bad team, or 2nd line on a very good team are very likely to make it in. Even just looking at goalies there are 4 starting, and 4 backup goalies per division, I would expect for almost every season that the backup goalies don’t really have a chance (except in a division with a very bad team), so for the starting goalies it will basically be a 2 in 4 chance of making it in when they are not in a very bad team (either as starting or backup goalie). And this kind of goes to all positions, for defenders there are 24 defenders for 6 spots, however it is very unlikely that the bottom 8 defenders even have a shot which makes it 16 defenders per spot, and very likely any not tanking team will be able to get at least 1 first line defender is, which leaves very little space for surprised with the biggest discussion being is the 2nd/3rd line of good/very good teams be better than 1st line of bad teams. The same goes for the forwards, except with even more options and spots.

5. Who are the most unexpected players taking part in the event? Why?
The biggest surprise in my opinion is the inclusion of Elizabeth Doyle, while I do agree on there being 2 goalies from Buffalo, obviously with my player being from Buffalo, I did not expect 2 goalies of any 1 team to make it in any of the squads. I had 100% expected every single team to have 2 goalies, who were both the starting goalie in their respective team.

I was about to say no, I don't like the format, but honestly I don't care. The all star week is a pointless waste of time and forcing players to go instead of resting, or even plowing through and finishing the season earlier and get an additional week or 2 of offseason rest would be much more beneficial. Hockey fans don't care and probably would rather not have a break.

I'm writing to inform you that I will be buying an island off the coast of Belize this summer, and it would be my honour and privledge for you to join me in this summer's schenagans. I have a chef and house keepers hired already, and we are in the process of developing supply lines so we have everything we need.
This should be a sanctuary and a place of healing, and I'm looking forward very much to getting out of the city, and getting away from this country for a little bit.

I'm hoping the other idiots will join even if it's just for a quick visit, but the older I'm getting the more I feel like we only interact at work doing work things and I want to make time for fun.
My first thought was to be honest, was there a new format? But yeah I do remember there was some chatter about it on the forums and such. But I haven’t really noticed to be honest again. All Star match is a kind of boring competition thingy that does not really make any sense to me. They can be entertaining, but I have not seen anything and to be honest once more I actually tried to watch the all star thingy now so I could answer this, but I am unable to find any videos about it. So I really am just a no clue old man on this topic. In like the National Hockey League All star games can be fun. Not the hockey match parts, but the individual competitions. Those are entertaining. I guess that is not something we see in our All Star game? We just have one game consisting of the players that have the most friends within the hockey simulation gang of members. So for me it is not something I pay attention to except when I have to write the All star PT. I hope there will be something that explains the changes better to me. As I have said I am just clueless as to what happened with the new changes.

3. What would you do to spice up the new All-star format even further?
I would like to see something other than an All Star match. I do not find the sims funny to watch and I do not find the All Star thingy at all. I do actually believe that the sims were more fun to watch when they were text based. That Football Manager simulation that Franchise Hockey Manager has implemented is just copy is just dead ass awful. It would have been more fun if you played like online mini games with a version of the NHL24 or earlier version with all the All Stars participants participating live. That I would’ve seen and that would have been entertaining. Also with all the kits and such in the game it would have been awesome to watch. And of course if my player would’ve been involved it would also have helped my interest, but that is not going to happen anytime soon. I hope everybody was happy with the All star games though. I think it's a very interesting choice, adding two more teams means more all-star participation, more action, new rivalries and more bragging rights to fight for. One thing I'm uncertain about is the addition of players means some competition could be unbalanced due to dilution of talent. We will have to see some positive results to properly evaluate the choice.

4. Which of the teams can field the best first line, first pair or goalie tandem? What makes them the best?
I'm looking at the Atlantic Division now, and a line featuring Atlanta's Jae-Ik Barron, Philadelphia's Tony Soprano and Tampa Bay's Max Carnage could be a devastating line due to their dominant skillsets. Cale Salad from Philadelphia and Georg N'zola from Atlanta feeding them pucks with their playmaking capabilities sounds like a serious threat to other all-star teams.

7. What would be your starting lineup, 3 forwards, 2 defencemen and a goalie for one of the SMJHL conferences?
I would have to pick a starting lineup from the Southern Conference, starting with Valtteri Puulkinen, Scott Fortune and Anthony Louchard from the Maine Timber. Their offensive capabilities are staggering, and since they are from the same team, they have chemistry in droves. On defense, add in their teammate, leading SMJHL scoring for defensemen, Ty Justice. On the other side of the pairing, Pavel Mintyukov. It would seem that Mintyukov would be the odd man out in this starting lineup, but with the improvement he has shown, he shoud be able to keep up and fit right in with the other four. Carolina's Honza Avran would be the starting goalie of choice.

It's been such a pleasure playing on the same team, and the same line as you for the past four seasons with Ottawa. We got drafted together, been to the Finals together, set some records together, we pretty much set the bar for future Highlanders to play up to. Now you're in Edmonton and I'm in Buffalo, so maybe someday we meet in the playoffs and square off, just to see how far along we've come. I wish you all the best out there!

What the All-Star event really needs is a proper way to exhibit skill competitions. The games themselves are fun to watch, but ultimately they're just dots on the screen like any other game day. Less interesting for those of us who weren't selected.
If we could actually show skill competitions true to each players skills, then that would likely bring more of an audience. I'd bet many members would be interested to see who can shoot the hardest, or skate the fastest, etc. Though, it'd likely be very close each season since most of the top players have the same or very similar builds.

I’ll definitely award the best first line to the Atlantic team. Simply because the team contains players from the best two teams in the entire league. They have the top-3 forwards in points, goals, and assists this season. Johnny Wagner-Svenson, Jae-Ik Barron, and Jiggle E Puff absolutely dominated. Which has unsurprisingly earned them each a nomination not just for the All-Star teams, but also for the regular season MVP award. It’s pretty clear at this point that they are currently the best forwards in the league. Putting all of them together on the same line is just downright unfair to the other teams.
But important to note is that it's not all about points. Both Johnny Wagner-Svenson and Jiggle E Puff have shown up above expectations defensively as well. Allowing the least amount of shots against while they're on the ice, and boasting top-of-the-team level CF% Rel. Especially JWS has stood out as the ultimate two-way forward.

This All Star Week is just gonna be “Zach writes about Jason Visser,” and I don’t apologize. My first player was teammates with Visser in Winnipeg, and it brings a joyful tear to my eye to see him still recognized as one of the all-time greats in the history of the SHL, as he should be. There was undoubtedly some tough competition regarding which legends should be invited to the All Star Expo, as evidenced by his teammates being Ron Mexico and Alonzo Garbanzo. But it’s clear that Visser was one of the best – in my biased opinion, the best – and I expect he’ll prove why that’s the case during the Expo.

Instead of a game between two teams we get a short tournament of 4 teams. Write your predictions for the 6 game round robin and the playoffs. Do you see it as anyone's game or is there a clear favorite among the teams? How much impact do you expect from the added Hall of Fame players?
OHHHHH MAN DO I HAVE A PREDICTION. I get asked a lot of questions about SHL these days, and I don't know much. The game has changed a lot since I first joined. But if there's ONE THING I have been consistent about for close to 50 seasons now, it is that JASON GOSHDANG VISSER IS THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. Wayne Gretzky has a Jason Visser poster in his bedroom.
So like, should I probably be standing on the company line and telling you how much ass the Pacific Division will kick, especially with some Dragons legends joining my future Calgary teammates on the ice? Yeah. BUT I’M HERE TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH. And the truth is that ANY TEAM JASON VISSER IS ON DOESN’T LOSE.
And you’re giving one of the best defenseman of all time in Alonzo Garbanzo AND THE LITERAL FACE OF THE LEAGUE’S MVP TROPHY, RON MEXICO, to the Central team as well? IT’S OVER. DON’T EVEN PLAY THE GAMES. The Central wins, Jason Visser scores the most points, wins tournament MVP, takes your mom home after the championship game and that’s the bottom line. I don’t make the rules. Everyone else is playing for silver. So maybe go Pacific for that, yanno.
2: I think the new format is great. The old format wasn't bad by any standard, but I like the new format more, since it should give all the teams a chance to be represented and give even more players a chance to make the teams. It gives more players the honor without making it cheap for everyone else I think. (50+) 1 TPE
3.) to spice up the All-Star format even more, I think the entire format needs to have terms. The winning team All star team gets +10 TPE, and the losing team gets -10. That way the players are really encouraged to do their best, because you don't want to lose some sweet TPE by putting up some sub-par performances. OR make it so if you win you get to pick which teams you play in the upcoming season, like instead of being forced to play a tough team, you can pick a softer team in the season to boost your standings. OR Even better, the winning team gets an award on the forums and discord, the losing team gets a poop trophy. (120 words) 2 TPE
8.) @Rankle - People let me tell you about my best line mate, who was taken from me by Luke for a minute, but who I think I have back for the upcoming season. Pork has been forced to carry my ass even since I got called up to the J, and now that I am suddenly okay, Luke took him from me. So Pork deserves to be a part of the all star game, in fact, they are already the biggest all star to me! They make everyone around them better, and that is the sign of a true all star. Anyone can play good, but to make those who play bad play better is an unmeasurable attribute that is just amazing! 120ish 2 TPE
