When the offseason cook-off was announced, Tom Pedersen knew exactly what he was going to make. He had in secret been preparing for some time. While his teammates debated over steaks, burgers, and pasta dishes, Tom confidently decided to bring a taste of Norway to the table. He would make fårikål, the traditional Norwegian lamb and cabbage stew.
Tom isn't just a good cook. He learned the art of fårikål from his grandmother, who always said the secret was in the patience and the right balance of black peppercorns. But since speed was a criteria Tom had made everything upfront and freezed it. He just had to heat it up and serve. In the end, Tom Pedersen’s fårikål emerged as the unexpected champion according to Tom. His teammates may have had their flashy recipes, but it was the humble Norwegian dish, cooked with care and tradition, that stole the show and left them all with surprised faces as Tom decided the champion.
