I've been a member of the Toronto North Stars since S39 and I'd have to say Buffalo is our biggest rival by far. Buffalo had always been fairly vocal as a team since I've been on the site, and there was a bit of personal beef in the S40's after the Toronto GM at the time mocked a suspension for Buffalo. Both teams were rebuilding in the late S30's and early S40'S, so naturally there was a bit of tension there. Buffalo had the better of the S40's and currently they are the only Great Lakes team to lose to Toronto since the FHM era started as Toronto had finally managed to beat Hamilton and Chicago in the last couple of seasons. Buffalo currently holds a 26 game regular season winning streak against Toronto, so we'd really like to end that soon.

Right now, I think the biggest rival of the Winnipeg Jets is the Los Angeles Panthers. I know there are historical answers like the Calgary Dragons or the West Kendall Platoon - but I am newish here so screw that, lets focus on the now. While the Panthers and the Jets are not directly in the same division, they are in a sort of similar state right now. Winnipeg is not as close to competing with other teams in their division, and are in a no mans land in 3rd. Calgary and Edmonton are elite and above Winnipeg, while Minnesota and Seattle are still coming out of/starting rebuilds. As such, Winnipegs closest rival would be LA. They are similar talent wise, although LA has been in buy mode, while Winnipeg is just letting the talent develop. They are also a very evenly matched team, with each team boasting slightly different strengths and weaknesses. This might be a short term rivalry, as they are on different arcs - LA has few prospects but is going all in to try and be a contender in the near future, while Winnipeg has a stable full of young and exciting pieces that they can eventually build around. For me in Colorado, I would say it is the Anaheim Outlaws. Since I joined Colorado, Anaheim has always been the team that no one likes. Being in the same conference as Anaheim in S54 then moving into the same division as them in S55 and on. So definitely our division rivals. We have played Anaheim 26 times since S54. Colorado has won 12 times to Anaheim's 14 wins. We have scored 90 goals against them and they have scored 83 goals. So advantage Colorado there. We have shut them out 3 times to only being shutout once. Also probably the best game I have ever been a part of in the SMJHL was against Anaheim. Colorado won 10-1.
For reference, here is the game https://youtu.be/0XHBvojp5F0?t=571
just absolutely crushed them. A very fun game to play in. The only thing is that the only playoffs matchups between us two teams (since S54) ended with Anaheim winning the series in 5 games. So hopefully we will get our shot to avenge this loss soon.

As a member of the New England Wolfpack, I'd say our current rival is the Hamilton Steelhawks. Sure, at this moment we've got quite a TPE deficit compared to their team, but we have a promising group of players on their way to becoming the core of a cup-contending team. The event that I think is freshest on our minds is the NEW cup run in the first season of the FHM era. NEW was the president's trophy winner and we were slated to face a team in the finals which honestly would've been a gimme for us, we just had to pass through Hamilton in the semi's first. However, after a hard-fought round, Hamilton ended up on top and went on to snatch a relatively easy win for the cup that season. We could say that we were only defeated by the eventual champions, but we still got nothing significant out of the run. This loss was also a catalyst for a majority of our season-dominating core requesting trades. This left a bad taste in NEW's mouth, and also a particularly sour taste in mine since so many great players put all their hopes into one season instead of the multiple-season window we had just entered into (during which we'd proven that we were a force to contend with). The trades netted us many 1sts to assist in the unexpected rebuild (note that several of them were from Hamilton themselves, who've continued to excel in the league with some of our former core players), but it was still quite an abrupt end to a promising window, which was ultimately caused, and profited from, by Hamilton.
While I have been a Kraken, and, well, been in the league for that matter, I think our greatest rival has always been the Newfoundland Berserkers. I don't think (or I guess I hope that) there any teams that specifically hate us as an organization, and I'm not sure we've had any particular feuds. I suppose Trella vs NBB during the time of expansion could be the closest we have had, but he was with Tampa Bay by then.
So why do I pick the Berserkers? Well, the very start for me was S54. we had finished two points apart by the end of the season, Newfoundland getting the edge, and matched in the semi finals. The series ended up going the the Kraken, but man, what a tight series that was. Amundsen was scary. We ended up going on the win the Four Star Cup that year, and onto the next season we move.
In S55, we got a little closer. Newfoundland and Carolina finished first and second in the league, at one point apart from each other. Again, we met in the semi finals, and again, we went to 7 games. This time however, it was the Berserkers who got the edge, and they went on to win the Four Star Cup for themselves that season. I think those two series I mentioned really defined the rivalry as I know it now.
Now S56, the Carolina Kraken finally place above the Berserkers, and do so by 3 points. We were not able to meet with the Berserkers this time, but boy were we close. Of course as we know, the Whalers had quite a squad, and won the Four Star Cup this year. However, the series between the Whalers and the Kraken also went the length, and if it tilted the other way.. Holy damn what a final that would have been between the Berserkers and Kraken. Would have been the true way to "finish" the little rivalry off.
This season, each team isn't doing as well as the historically have, the Kraken have lost a ton in the past two seasons, whereas the Berserkers took most of the blow this season alone. It'll be interesting to see what happens between the two in the future, though.
While we don't have a single true rival established yet, Chicago has a few teams in the east they can consider rivals. Manhattan is the only team that can be considered outside the Great Lakes division. In the final seasons of STHS Chicago matched up against the Rage in round one of S51 and S52. The Syndicate lost both series in heartbreaking game 7s and it's something they won't forget. In recent years it's all about the Great Lakes rivalry. Chicago is a bit of a third wheel to Hamilton and Buffalo, as those two have won three of four cups under FHM. Buffalo has taken Chicago out of the playoffs three seasons in a row, including the famous reverse sweep last season. However, if you ask Chicago players there is a stronger dislike for Hamilton due to their perception around the league. These three teams are currently top three in the league and with the new playoff format it's very likely we see a Great Lakes cup final for the next few seasons.
From my point of view, the most principled duel for our team is against a team from Atlanta. It's only for a couple of reasons, mainly because both our Seattle team and their Atlanta team were built, discovered at one time. This is the second season of both teams in the league. That would be a key factor. Of course, the results are very different for both teams, as the Atlanta Eagles are fighting for the second season for a stable place in Play-Off while we're at the bottom of the tournament table, but it depends on each of the teams being built, because Atlanta got a lot more powerful at once, if it can say, players while we're making a team through the youth system. It would be a team duel, even if I was taken individually, then I always have duels in principle with my youth ex teammates from St. Louis teams. But that's not the same as the pitched team duel. I hope we'll be able to bite Atlanta in the coming seasons and catch the exclusion game area, where the Winnipeg Jets hockey players are always on our feet.

I think that the Battle of Alberta is just as prevalent in the SHL as it is in the NHL. The Calgary Dragons and the Edmonton Blizzard have had a great rivalry going for many seasons, just like the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers in the NHL. Time and time again, the Dragons match up with the Blizzard, and it is always an intense series for sure. OT wins, Game 7s, huge comebacks, big goals in general....there is always a lot to be seen in an Edmonton and Calgary series. There's also usually a good amount of trash talk, and I even think both team's branding are top notch as well, so you could argue there's a rivalry in that regard as well. I've been on the Calgary Dragons for my entire SHL career with both Michael Boychuk and Mikael Choybuk, and Edmonton is a team that we consistently have great games and series' against.
We are kind of too young to have any significant or bitter rivalries. Combined with the fact that the teams in our division are markedly worse than us such as Baltimore, Tampa and New England or definitely better than us in Manhattan it doesn't really lead itself to developing any real playing level rivalries. So for that reason I'm going to have to go with our fellow expansion bro team the Seattle Argonauts. Pretty obvious choice as they are the same age as us and unfortunately we only play them twice every season. Unfortunate because it kind of sucks for a rivalry but also because we are probably better than them for now and it's always nice to get a win and especially in a rivalry match up. That being said Tig and Grok have always been pretty nice to me leading right back to when we were smjhl GM's so it's hard for me to have any malice towards them.

I think the atlanta inferno have two big rivals instead of one actually - well, one of them is a team (but we're actually moreso rivals with the head of the team), and the other one is a person(ish). so the first team that our team is rivals with is none other than the PT team, and actually, we're moreso rivals with @hotdog for making these PTs and having us do them like man just chill out for a sec no need to be so consistent maybe just give us a week off so we can slack and if no one can do PTs then we're really all better off right. the second thing (person ish) that the atlanta inferno absolutely despise is lil jon. motherfuck stop pinging me i'll do my PT just please stop you don't have to threaten my family please just put the gun down there's no need for any violence here i'll write 150 words like a good boy. ah fuck i couldn't think of a good way to incorporate @Gwdjohnson into the PT sorry @Briedaqueduc
