A player that creates under the current conditions would find it difficult but not impossible to reach 2k before regressing. We have some TPE sources that are variable (recruitment, fantasy, etc.) which makes it difficult to calculate a firm max TPE.

But you’re right. The 9 season regression system combined with consistent 8-week seasons would shave quite a bit off the top of career peaks compared to what we are used to seeing since the mid/late S30s.

Word.

2k TPE was absolutely unheard of. When I started, even 1k was unheard of. You don't need hard SPSS-level data to know that having 1100 TPE made a superstar player in the past and barely being a serviceable player at 1300 TPE now is a significant difference.

Well you also have to recognize that it’s a different engine + even in STHS different update scales being used. In S7 the scale was
50-80 = 1 point
80-85 = 2 points
85-90 = 3 points
90-95 = 4 points
95-99 = 5 points

https://simulationhockey.com/showthread....date+scale

S16 update scale change

https://simulationhockey.com/showthread....date+scale

50 – 70 = 1 TPE
70 – 80 = 2 TPE
80 – 90 = 5 TPE
90 – 99 = 8 TPE
162 TPE to 99 / 130 to 95

S27 Scale change
https://simulationhockey.com/showthread....date+scale
40-60 = 1 TPE (20)
60-70 = 2 TPE (20)
70-80 = 4 TPE (40)
80-90 = 8 TPE (80)
90-99 = 12 TPE (108)
(Plus the weakness)

So of course when someone had 1100 TPE in the S10’s they would have the max build because the scales are different. There were more ways to earn. More consistant ways to earn. Now with FHM it’s an entirely new scale, it has already been changed. You have people with 700-900 TPE players be viable as well. I think it’s a bit more nuanced than back in my day 1000 TPE is unheard of compared to now because of different build changes, a lot more consistency in PT’s, AC’s, Trsining, Equipment, Training Camp, and more PT’s in general.
Now is the system perfect now? No. Will it ever be perfect? Probably not.

I was against both of those update scale changes, fwiw. They were put into place due to sudden TPE inflation, when people would metaphorically get 10 uncapped TPE for writing their name at the top of the test.

Make juniors careers 2-3 seasons, I clearly don't have the answers on how but for the love of the sim gods please don't make me stay in the juniors for 8 months on my next player.

That doesn't help if there aren't any openings to be called up.

Just ask your GM to go up. If they won't then leave the team.
