S71 PT#2: Amenities and Appellations

CREATIVE PROMPT / STORY MODE

Holy crap, I can't believe they agreed to put up an arena in my literal backyard. Now you are telling me the taxpayers are going to pay for it?

First up, the arena should be called Sliptopia because this incredibly dumb idea needs an equally dumb name.

Second, it will have to be built in my literal backyard. However, I am open to re-adjusting the location of my backyard for the good of the city. If we keep it where I live now, the taxpayers will have to sponsor renovations for each of my neighbors so they can build out shops under their homes. I firmly believe in making my neighborhood into a 24 hour city because then we will all make 24 hour profits.

If we end up relocating my backyard, I want to bring my neighbors with me. We can hire them on to run the shops and not disrupt my existing social life. The only rule is that Randy is not allowed to serve his famous chili, no matter how much he begs for a food license. It's for the best.

I'm a big fan of an arena with an assortment of ameddies and expect to see fresh patties, not frozen. Next up you need a gaming center for fans to mingle before and after games, since most of our team likes gaming it's an easy way get the crowd hyped up and make some money. If our team can be a little more successful things like escalators, a giant fountain/fire pit outside, big screens inside and outside would make the experience joyful for anybody attending.

Can't say I would be surprised at anything since most of the teams are the same other than my first time in the penalty box, when I heard the knocking on the glass behind me I freaked out so I guess more sales on tickets in that area of the rink would be a surprising negative for me. Most of the time it's been positive staying away from stuff I'm unfamiliar to but I have had some negative experiences with the losing teams burger slingers, everytime I seem to get 'em microwaved, stop disliking my burger review videos on SimTube and serve me some good beef next time please!

Our weight room still needs to expand and be able to have more workouts scheduled to be honest, our competition have been gaining on us that regard.. We are sharing one bench and a few dumbbells right now so that's something we should definitely focus on, video room could use some new wallpaper because these fainted ducks are haunting me in my sleep, that's a must if I decide to stick around.

For Aleksi Kettu, there is a wide range of amenities and upgrades that he could live without. However, Kettu wants what is best for both the fans and the players, so he takes pride in knowing that the Panthers arena is kept as up to date as possible. While Kettu would love for the arena's seating to all be top of the line, the walkways clean, and the sightlines unobstructed no matter where a fan sits, he is unadmittedly more concerned with the state of the team's film room. If Kettu isn't on the ice running drills or just skating around without a purpose, he can typically be found in the film room preparing as much as humanly possible for whatever opponent the Los Angeles Panthers have up next on their schedule. So for Kettu, the Panthers ensured that there would be no light bleeding from outside of the room into the film room, the screens that are installed in the room are as crystal clear as one can find, and there is a- well, we can't be giving away too many Los Angeles secrets, now can we?

Anchorage gets their new arena, let us all celebrate because this is what we have been waiting for the past 15 years or so. The location is very challenging because of the rough terrain in which Anchorage is built on, but after considerable thinking the arena would be located very near the Alaska Zoo, but not too close to not scare off the animals in the park. Naturally the arena would be named Lake Otis Parkway Drive Arena, based off of its location which is on the Lake Otis Parkway. The naming process became a pain in the ass for the Anchorage Armada franchise, when they wanted a more appealing or "fierce" stadium name, but all the other candidates for the new arenas name were horrible. Sponsors could not have either had the stadium name all to themselves because all the shareholders have the same percentage ownership of this new said arena, so it would not be called Mountain Dew Center or Twix Park or anything like that. Just plain old Lake Otis Parkway Drive, which is a subtle hint towards the australian metal band.

In stadium amenities this late in the game Strom is looking for three absolutely essential things that accommodate both the fan base of Winnipeg as well as himself and his teammates.  First off, for the fans is a combo of the absolute musts:  plenty of restrooms and plenty of vendor stands.  From Strom's first go-round in Winnipeg it became extremely clear that happy fans equates to fans who buy more merchandise and support the team more completely.  At its base, being able as a fan to not have long lines to wait in for food or for the bathroom definitely make for happy fans.

Secondly, for himself and the team, Strom is looking for a traditional weight room with treadmills, spin bikes, rowing machines (this is a new one that can arguably increase cardio better than biking) as well as a full range of free weights for the specific or compound movement training.  Lastly, and this one is a carry over from his days in Anaheim, comfy recliners so that when the team watches film (or take over the projector for video games) they can do so in complete comfort and style.  After all, once they're done busting their butt in the gym or on the ice after practice, who wouldn't want to sit back and relax?

Rasmus is big on the amenities at the arena - it’s a lot easier to come to work when you can truly enjoy it. Popcorn in the film room is both obvious and a necessity. The weight room needs to have all the equipment, with a team voted playlist because we’re definitely not using the music they play at commercial gyms. The locker room requires a cold bath and a hot tub because you need the best of both worlds.

There’s also going to have to be a mini putt course on the grounds of the facilities. I’m talking 18 holes, minimum of one windmill and one clowns mouth that the boys have to hit it through. It’s great for stimulating team competition and it’s only going to help with bonding and driving the competitive spirit of the team.

The last thing we need is a ping pong table, mostly for the same reasons and also cause they’re great fun to have around for any extended periods of time we’re there.

Amenities are actually a really big thing for players in the league and it's something that players will look at when considering franchises they want to play for. Good amenities can make your life way easier and much more relaxed. One thing big for Noel that positively impacts his game is having a real well put together equipment room with lots of tools and supplies. He's a player that likes to have his equipment a certain way and so spends a lot of time in the equipment room fiddling with things. He's been in a few places where there wasn't as much to work with as he'd like but Winnipeg's is great. Another one is player lounges/facilities as he feels it's important to have a great place for the players to hang out together and bond. Winnipeg has a great kitchen and lounge with big comfy sofa's and a TV where they sometimes hang out to watch sports or play video games

One of the amenities that Murphy enjoys the most at the Seattle Argonauts' home arena is the cutting-edge training facilities. Equipped with state-of-the-art fitness equipment, dedicated ice rinks for practice sessions, and specialized recovery areas, the arena ensures that Kermit and his Argos teammates have access to top-notch resources to maintain their peak physical condition. This is especially important for Kermit, who as a muppet, is made entirely of felt and is very prone to injury.

Additionally, Murphy appreciates the luxurious locker room provided for the team. The spacious and well-desigjed area is designed with the players' comfort and functionality in mind. Each player has a personalized locker space, coaches have access to advanced video and VR training technology, and a big ass logo on the floor so the players can yell at any reporters who stand on it.

Furthermore, the arena's premium dining options are a hit with Murphy. From healthy pre-game meals to extremely unhealthy post-game celebrations, the food options ensure that Kermit can maintain his playing weight of 230lb, which it should be pointed out, is absurd for a muppet.

There's a few things that are very important to Alexi Piastri as far as the new arena goes. I mean the things that he had to do to secure the teams new home... seems only fair that he would play a big role in designing the new arena. Among the first things that Alexi has requested, is that the new arena will have a number of Alexi's favorite food spots. Alexi discovered Shaq's big Chicken sandwiches in Seattle and knew that he needed to make sure that the new arena had one. Other dining opportunities will be Brooklyn Broters Pizza, Jersey Mike's, an authentic Mexican cantina, a seafood restaurant, and a BBQ spot that serves pulled pork & brisket. Alexi also requested that a giant picture of himself be placed on the main entrance of the team store. I mean the things that he had to do to make sure that the team didn't move to Saskatoon.. it's only fair!

The biggest thing for me is space. Too often arenas have limited space to move around. People are shoulder to shoulder walking through the concourses and it makes the general feeling negative as you try to navigate from your seat to the bathroom or concession stands. And speaking of bathrooms and concession stands, those are next on my to do list. Think of how many you believe are needed and double it. No body wants to miss half a period as they're standing in line to take a leak or waiting endlessly for another beer. Make food and bathroom more accessible. Space and accessibility are the key factors to any new arena and even if the other factors of going to a game aren't great, these two items make a massive impact on the game day experience. The arena can take care of the fans and keep them in a good mood. Also, if concessions are easy to get, more people will purchase them, making more money for the owners. It's a win/win/win.

Amenities are incredibly important to a two-time superstar like Chad Nickelback, and that will definitely play into his wishes for the arena. First and foremost, the old wooden benches in the lockerroom will need to be gone. Those aren't comfortable at all, and frankly unbefitting of someone of his ability. Big plus chairs will need to be setup for Chad and his teammates to be able to be incredibly comfortable between periods and before and after practice.

Chad will also need there to be a fully functional studio. As someone who doubles as a rockstar, he needs to find time wherever he can to record when inspiration hits. Considering that he spends so much time at the arena, he would expect nothing less than the best.

Thirdly, Chad will want private washrooms for 4each member of the team. No more waiting to use the toilet, or having to go in to find the horrors of someone else on your seat. These bathrooms will be filled with toilets with heated seats, luxury rainfall showers, along with beautiful scents to help relax

Amenities Wish-list

Since Andren is a health nut, he has has extremely high expectations of the amenities provided by any team that he plays for. It's pretty much a requirement that his minimum be met before he'll sign on the dotted line. At bare minimum, he needs all of the equipment required for a good strength workout: squat rack with enough weight to really give him a challenge. An adjustable bench and a full suit of dumbells up to 100 pounds. Even better if there is a hack squat and smith machine. When it comes to cardio, the more choices the better for Andren. He hates running so alternatives like rowing machines, stepping machines and bikes are needed. After the workout is important and there should also be some sort of protein shake bar within the complex as well. He'd be pleasantly surprised if the gym had tires to flip and a rope pull machine but those aren't strictly necessary.

Player Prompt:

As far as stadium amenities Matiss really enjoys the weight room, cafeteria, the dark room, and athletic training room. The weight room is nice because all the equipment is personalized so that when a player steps up to work on that machine, they input their name and the machine automatically sets weights and reps for that player to complete during their training. With this setting players don’t have to keep track of weights in the system and it does it for them making weight training easy to show results with progression. The cafeteria is nice because the team has a personal chef at the facility from morning skate all the way until the players leave to prepare any snacks or meals that the players want. Inside the players area, there is a room called the dark room and inside this room there are personal sleeping pods that players can have custom input on inside settings of the pod to control temperature and comfort to be able to rest and recover after practices or workouts. And lastly, the athletic training room in the facility is really nice due to the large whirlpool and ice bath machines that are used for recovery after practices, games and workouts.

The new arena's name is a decision being put on hold since most people are having a hard time figuring out Hodor's preference outside of "Hodor!" Arena. The arena should be built in the middle of the city, suspended on tall stilts so that the whole arena is hovering above all the buildings in the middle. Hodor thought it would be fun to be up high so he wants no expense spared in making it happen. The arena will be constructed on top of its own parking garage because who needs to plan for future upgrades? Not Hodor! That's not his job, and they made him the one calling the shots apparently. There's also going to be platform jutting off the side of the building as options for other business to set up shop to take advantage of arena crowds. Safety codes will be up to them to set, so hopefully they know what they're getting into when they ask to set up a business in the arena.
