S51 WFT #4 - Make The Case

I PUT THIS ONE IN EVERY SEASON BUT IT'S FINALLY NOT A JOKE - CAMERON CARTER II WILL WIN THE DAR AWARD

For Cameron Carter II is a stud for us this year and there is absolutely no way he should be over looked. I go so far as saying if he doesn't win we should look at re-evaluating how it is we decide award winners because it obviously isn't working.

Code:
The S51 Challenge Cup finals will be New Orleans vs. Hamilton

For: Unfortunately, the sim is broken, one of these two teams new the sim was broken and built their team accordingly, the other just happened to have a team that suited the broken sim. Either way, it should be difficult for anyone to compete with either of these teams and I'd be shocked if they weren't in the finals.

Code:
The S51 Four Star Cup finals will be Carolina vs. Anchorage

Against: The SMJHL is very unpredictable and a lot of the teams are very close together in terms of ability and talent. While both of these teams have some very obvious strengths with Anchorage having a well rounded team without significant weaknesses and the best goalie in the league, and Carolina having by far the best group of wingers in the league, they both have things that can hurt them like Carolina's weak defense and Anchorage's lacklustre forward depth. It's hard to say who will be in the SMJHL final.

Code:
I PUT THIS ONE IN EVERY SEASON BUT IT'S FINALLY NOT A JOKE - CAMERON CARTER II WILL WIN THE DAR AWARD

For: Barring any really bad underlying numbers it's hard not to see him win this award. He leads the league in hits, is on point per game pace, has double digit blocked shots and plus minus and has just been an absolute force for Chicago at both ends of the ice this season. One thing that deniers might point to his the fact that he's barely played on the power play but the rest of his numbers stand out so much that it would be difficult to imagine him not winning it.

Code:
Nicholas Williams is the rightful MVP of S51

For: I think this should be an easy one, he's consistently been the league's best player all season. He's by far the best player on the best team, has a solid lead in points over the next player who isn't even in a playoff position and has just thoroughly dominated the league this year. Nicholas Williams will be the SHL's MVP in S51.

Code:
Daniel Bischoff will win the SMJHL MVP award

For: Yet again an easy one as Daniel Bischoff has also been the best player on the best team all season long in the SMJHL. He's put up 52 points in 42 games so far and has been such an important part of the Armada's offense this season and it's hard to imagine anyone else taking this award for him. He's by far the most deserving MVP candidate and it would be a real shame if he didn't win it.

Code:
Sour skittles are better than regular skittles

For: I mean, well obviously. Any kind of sour candy is better than regular candy with the exception of gummy bears and gummy worms which are better not sour. Anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong and absolutely cannot be trusted. Plain skittles are ok, don't get me wrong, but sour skittles are just in a world of their own compared to the plain ones. Easy question.

Code:
The West Kendall Platoon are having the luckiest season in recent memory

For: Damn so many easy ones this season. Not really sure how anyone can argue against this. They have the worst goal differential of all 10 teams currently in a playoff spot, they have the worst goal differential in the entire Eastern conference, they're bad on paper and they've been bad in practice but somehow they've managed to pull off enough points to sit at the top of their division. A lot of it can be attributed to the 3 other teams in their division having really awful seasons and performing below expectations which just adds to WKP's luck this season.

Code:
San Francisco and New England are currently first and second in the league in powerplay % yet are the two most disappointing teams this season - this proves that having a good powerplay is actually,,,,,, BAD

Against: This is some next level logical fallacy, like this is a causal fallacy if you've ever seen one. There's so much more to both these teams having a terrible season and there are 3 teams having fantastic seasons with power plays just as good as the other two. Chicago, New Orleans, and Edmonton are all having great seasons and all have top 5 power plays so that theory really just goes out the window. If you wanna see why both teams have been so bad you should probably start by pointing to the fact that both of them have some of the worst defensive records in the league, that would be a good place to start.

As the starting goalie, I'm sure this is shocking... but if there is one thing I know, it's that not team will ever win a Challenge Cup when one of my players play for that team.

There are a possibilities for matchups in terms of the Challenge Cup Finals this season and perhaps the last season for the STHS sim in the SHL. In my opinion coming out of the West they are three teams that could make the final which are the Spectors, Blizzard & your defending champs the Calgary Dragons. In terms of the East it's a little different as I think all 5 teams in the playoff picture at the moment can make a deep run in the Challenge Cup Playoffs and potentially a Finals appearance.

Simon T hates anyone that wins the President's Trophy. Edmonton is REALLY good too, and the Western Finals (assuming its NOLA vs EDM) is really the "challenge cup final" the league deserves. Hamilton will probably come out of the East since they're doing their sim breaking bullshit and the East is, as usual, garbage, but I can't say for sure who comes out of the West. If NOLA finishes #1, i'd put money on them not getting to the finals. Here's hoping EDM passes us before the season ends.

FOR:

With my previous player Ales Smirnov, I spent 10+ seasons on West Kendall, during my time there we made the finals twice, and lost in game 7 BOTH TIMES. We even had a 3-0 series lead in of those playoff runs.
So to see West kendall sit second with that horrible goals for, it is quite hard to believe.

Against, WKP is actually an unlucky team and simon constantly fucking them over. They're just good. So cut that dumb shit out for them being lucky.

False. The West Conference is an absolute dumpster fire of a conference where two teams are reaping the benefits of extremely weak strength of schedule. Just look at NOLA, almost all their losses are to East teams. The West could barely compete in the SMJHL,

This is an easy for, and I would argue that at least the top three teams in the league are in the Western Conference (the Dragons join the Specters and Blizzard). NOLA and Edmonton are easily the top teams, they both almost have double the goal differential as Hamilton who leads the Eastern Conference, and I imagine both West teams actually have passers on them so it makes it even more impressive! Second place in the East is a rebuilding WKP with a negative 26 goal differential. Also the Eastern teams have inflated win totals as it is because they get to play all the other East teams and don't have to face NOLA/Edmonton/Calgary often so their softer schedule inflates the Eastern win totals. I think that is also why you see these wild fluctuation with teams like TBB and New England who go from top Eastern teams to not being able to make the playoffs, and why teams who are clearly rebuilding (WKP, Toronto, etc) can make the playoffs in the East.

West is best.

Against: I can only eat a few sour skittles before I need to take a break from eating as they become too sour for my taste buds. Regular skittles however I can eat an entire bag of them on my own with no struggle in one sitting.

SimonT

But as that does not have enough words to meet reguired, I could add that Specters are playing in easiest division of them all making their point total bit inflated and I'm pretty sure at least conference Final will be though for them. Also east seems more even in general making it very likely that someone could upset Hamilton if they don't find new way to break sim again.

FOR: CC2 Is a force to be reckoned with in Chicago. He is leading the attack from the front and allowing players like Kennedy to mop up the back end. He is defensively sound, strong offensively, and does all the little things that make him so important in Chicago. If he is overlooked there will be a real bad bias this year, which I feel will happen, but hopefully not. Let's not get this wrong SHL.

The S51 Challenge Cup finals will be New Orleans vs. Hamilton

for: A battle of who can shoot the most, should be interesting. Both teams can shoot well, and the passing doesn't seem to matter. If both teams keep their current pace it'll be a battle of the ages in the finals
