Giving someone a tag when you update them saying "hey just so you know there was a rule change, we'll let it slide this week but next week be sure to track your capped tpe" would have probably been the diplomatic approach that is not a slippery slope at all but I guess the iron fist approach was a way to go with it.
Word. Soft enforcement would have had the same result as zero-tolerance without fostering a bunch of ill will towards the update staff. The only tangible impact would be a one week delay on 100% compliance, but it would still have the same end result when compliance week started. You can be lenient and still have a brightline.

That was up to your updater
It wasn't though. I did tell you guys to skip any that missed it no exceptions.

After reviewing all of the SHL Updates, 10 SHL Players didn't get updated due to not having the cap posted. Of them, 2 posted in the punishment/rule change thread and half had updates applied after the rule change was announced.
As the rule stated:
-----
Lastly… from this moment forward ALL UPDATE THREADS in SHL and SMJHL must also contain your updated seasonal TPE cap (ex. S43 3/40). If it is not listed when your updater processes updates, you WILL be skipped for the week of updates.
-----
@"ThatDamnMcJesus" The rule is as straightforward as you could literally make it and 99 users did it correctly. So enough with the it wasn't clear or precise. There are members who still listed it even if they didn't have any capped TPE. Said members also haven't been in the league as long as you, nor GM'd an SHL team as you. Instead of complaining own up and simply lead by example. (and yes, Kit/Finn/JP, I didn't put the cap in my post... my TPE was banked and didn't have time to fix the cap this weekend, so I figured I could by the next update)
@Justice @DanbyRem so while this rule may be "stupid" to you two (and to others)... it is to do multiple things. Create uniformity in regards to updating as we have updaters subbing in for one another on occasion. This is a way to prevent mistakes and overages. Sure, I agree, this rule should have been in place already. Thing is... it wasn't. It is now and it will continue to be.
So why wasn't there a soft roll out of this... Because generally a soft roll out continues to leave the door open for a lack of following instructions. Of those 10, I do feel bad for a handful that updated earlier in the week and never heard of the rule later in the week. Should have we instructed @Dude to tell the updaters to tag the user to let them know and give them a chance? Perhaps, but then you guys argue that one person didn't get as much time to respond as the last person.
Regardless, at the end of the day we are looking at a max of 4 to 6 who got screwed because of the rule change late in the week while we had a total of 110 updates in the SHL. To them I am sorry. As for numbers tho... that is less than 10% of updates skipped.

Maybe next time, when there's a big rule change (that impacts every player and creates substantial consequences if not followed or complied with) the league could send out PMs with it or just ping every player in a thread explaining that rule? This way the league can say there was effort put in to acquaint every user with the rule and THEN you can roll out with the zero tolerance approach?

Maybe make the rule clearer not that hard to do.

Yeah, that's really convuluted and full of legal jargon.
