He finished second in team scoring behind only Ola Wagstrom, a nominee for the Mexico Trophy for league MVP.

35 points is hardly a breakout season Tongue
35 points for a dman in FHM put Vent tied for 14th for a blueliners, and it was more than double his career high, actually. This feels like a silly response.

good points and certainly worthy of a nom. The 3 guys that made the cut all saw of improvements of 20 or more points and finished at 4th, 8th and 20th in forward scoring and are worthy of a nom too.

Lmao wait, we’re not even going to touch the fact that Gibbles, who I love, got nommed for best two way despite a negative 30? NEGATIVE 30

The way the game calculates these is it compares how a player did to what is expected of their role. A player in a goal scoring role who was just okay defensively might get over 80 DGR despite being way less useful defensively than a player in a two way or defensive role getting 60 DGR. You can't really compare them player to player without knowing the roles they played most of the season.

Noted, thanks!
I found a few categories to be pretty skewed in FHM, especially blocks. It's wild a forward on a non-playoff team can rack up 181 blocks meanwhile a defenseman on a cup calibre team gets like 60.

I almost talked about shot blocks too actually. Bad teams in FHM are really bad, we have a bit of an issue with parity right now in my opinion. Unfortunately this leads to bad teams playing in their own end 80% of some games, which of course leads to more blocked shots.

Wouldn't this be true for giveaways and takeaways too?
I haven't looked at league wide stats so this is all assumptions, but shouldn't a team that a has a lot of Puck possession be more likely to giveaway then takeaway ( considering the limited opportunity to steal the Puck?

Honestly I don't know, this would be a good thing to look into. None of this discussion makes awards any easier to give out, but it's good to know as much as we can about this new sim engine.

Agreed. Not an easy job to give out awards in an entire new era with a plethora of new stats to look at.
If I wasn't in the middle of moving I'd try to investigate a bit.

@39alaska39 maybe try not being such a dick? i didnt even submit a ballot this season so im not even defending myself but like come on man. this is the first season voting on a new engine. there are like 240 players in the league, the one guy you had your eyes on might not have been the same guy everyone else was looking at. awards voting is fucking hard and the richan is one of the hardest to determine.

EDIT: if youre going to disagree, at least offer a constructive or helpful talk like teddy and mayuu

Maybe if the committee didn’t make egregious choices, yet again, then people wouldn’t be critical of the choices every year. At a certain point, when the committee is getting slated for the choices they make every year, it’s not the rest of the site, it’s the committee.

Ever notice how the J awards committee very rarely, if ever, gets blasted for our picks? That’s because we make intelligent choices that make sense. Crazy how that works though

Honestly who voted for Gabe for Richan? He doesn't deserve any recognition at all. I feel like this is a biggest crime of the Richan votes.
