S54 PT #4 - Cooking Show

After the success of Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party, Samat Beibitzhanov has decided to pilot a similar variety/cooking show to networks. Featuring chef and television personality Alex Guarnaschelli, the two invite numerous celebrity guests including youtubers, athletes, actors, and musicians, among others. The show features the two cooking with the guest of the week, with each creating their own dishes based on family recipes and traditional local cuisines. Afterwards, the group sits down and discusses various topics over a meal, functioning similarly to a late night talk show without the unfunny jokes or forced political references. The show proceeds despite Samat's admittedly rather poor grasp of the English language, though the two hosts are a surprisingly charismatic combination. Filming on the show's pilot season wrapped up last offseason, cut short by the fact that Samat actually had to work this offseason. The six-episode first season is currently being shopped around.

Martijn's show is called "Teach Martijn How To Cook". Unlike the other culinary stars, Martijn's free time is all spent either stick handling golf balls or sitting at the bar rail. His primary dish is Kraft Dinner with a nice salad bringing up the rear. Occasionally he cracks out some silky smooth pineapple chicken but you're always at risk of salmonella. The way the show works is that Martijn brings on all kinds of guests (culinary professionals, celebrities & average joes) who attempt to teach him how to cook a dish. Cool theme in theory right? Well it is, mostly because Martijn devised it as a way to get someone else to cook his food for him. He ensures the ingredients are all approved by his nutritionist and then he sits back and lets the guest go to work on the food. It's like having a rotating private chef. It never gets old because no two people cook the same dish. Only bad part are the ones that try to pass off their delissio frozen pizzas. Foh with that.

My show would be called Stranger Foods. It would feature the most exotic, obscure, or just weird foods that I can find. I will always have a guest on the show to share in my misery as we learn to cook and prepare this foods. Then we will eat them whether we like it or not. These guests may be fellow cast members from my hit Netflix series or teammates from the Berserkers or Stampede. If I have something especially gross on the episode I might even invite a rival such as Valentin Kalashnikov. Some of the time we might puke after eating. Possibly even before eating. But some of the time we might find the food is very good. We might even cook some of the wack ass recipes that get posted in these very forums. Overall nobody would really learn how to cook from this show and it would be more like a game show to see who suffers the most each episode. Sometimes the viewer may be the one to suffer most.

Since Kubinec is gone all day, he does a lot of stuff in the slow cooker or crockpot. You can do a lot in the crockpot from meatballs to mac and cheese to barbeque. So his show should focus on crockpot dishes that you can leave on when you’re not home. I do not condone this behavior but plenty of people do it even though it can be dangerous. Anyway, the show would be called Crockin’ with Kubi. Each week we will go over a dish that can be done. His personal favorite is pork barbeque. There are many different styles and ingredients. It doesn’t have to be spicy even though that is his favorite. You can’t just burn the mouth off people, you need to have some flavor in there too. He will also have a fire safety disclaimer at the start of the show about not leaving it unattended, just to prevent lawsuits.

Bo Kane's cooking show won't really be a cooking show. It's going to be a fast food review show were he and a guest will try a different fast food joint each episode while talking about hockey. They will score each product from each fast food joint to ultimately crown the fast food king. There can be mini games and tournament brackets where the can also compare specific products against each other to see who has the best. For example, a spicy chicken bracket where they get a spicy chicken sandwich from each fast food joint and then go through it to see who comes out on top. The guests will be SHL players and prospects in the SMJHL and it will be hosting during the off-season to give the fans some content. We will talk about the leagues as well as get insight on the guest of each episode.

Ruslan would call it "Taste of the Old Country" featuring a wide variety of Ukrainian and Russian dishes. After all everyone has comfort food and for Zapo to fuel the machine he is, he sticks to the old country. It would be a time to shed light on the flavors of Eastern Europe, possibly branching into other nations cook books in order to get more run time out of the show. He could feature some guests depending on who wants to taste these things or some of the people from other nations whos food they may be cooking that episode. It would be a good time with lots of Wodka to be drank and delicious food to be eaten. Guests may range from teammates and friends in the SHL, to even babushkas he grew up with from back home, making for a wild time each episode as cooking and hijinks ensue.

If Nick were to get his own cooking show, it would definitely be around cooking mostly meat. Smoking, grilling, frying, slow cooking, basically any way you could cook meat somehow Nick would have an episode on it. It’ll be a hit. We could call it Good Meats, a play on Alton Brown’s hit show Good Eats. It would obviously be on the cooking network which would help promote views. Another thing Nick would do is once a week, he would bring on a special guest host. These guest hosts would be SHL players, GM’s and, coaches. Theses guest hosts would choose a family recipe or just whatever is their favorite steak, pork, or chicken dish and show us how they prepare the meal and then how they cook it. It would let the fans get a behind the scenes look at some of their favorite players and their favorite meals. This would last one season until Nick runs out of recipes since he’s not a good cook.

Charlie has been tapped to host a new series on Netflix in Canada titled "Schieck Cuisine", and it will follow a simple cooking show format with Charlie preparing some of his favourite dishes. From dinner to dessert, Charlie has no shortage of culinary skill, and it will be on full display with this 10 episode series. Currently there is some internal debate about whether Charlie will be allowed to incorporate weed into the production of the show, as there are some on the production staff who think the whole "marijuana kitchen thing" has been overdone, but Charlie's vision for the show has he and a guest trying to incorporate weed into each episode's dish. We might also see a competitive format, where Charlie and a guest try to make the same dish but with variations (perhaps the weed incorporation could happen here), and serving to the audience. However the show plays out, we'll get to see a rather serious hockey player show a lighter side of himself.

Ursin Zimmermanns cooking show would be named "Going Gluten Free with Ursin". As the name says Ursin cooks only gluten free food. First because he's only able to eat gluten free food but also because he wants to show the people that there are a lot awsome gluten free menues! Ursin will also allways cook with a guest to show them how easy cooking gluten free food can be. Mostly these people are guys from his team or former team.
An episode will mostly be structured in 3 parts:
1. Ursin unveils whom his guest is, how he got to know this guest and what the guest accomplished. As example last weeks episode was with @Dextaria.
2. The guest and Ursin cook the meal togheter as Ursin shows the guest what he needs to do and the guest does these things (who would have guessed :O). Last week Dex cooked a swiss speciality: Zürich Geschnezeltes with Rösti (Hash Browns)
3. The best part: The tasting and review of how easy the food was to cook and if the guest recommends it.

Ethan Duncan is starring in a new cooking show called “Ethan’s Eggstravaganza.”  Yes, you heard that right folks.  Ethan Duncan likes eggs and cooks anything and everything with them.  He can’t go a day without eating one and after watching this show, his audience won’t be able to either.  He would invite guests that are way better at cooking than him such as @JR95 and also because two Ethans are better than one.

For the beginners, he would make a good old fashioned omelet with cheese and ketchup.  Add any side you wish, from sausage to fried rice and it makes a great meal.  Another easy recipe he would debut is a simple egg salad made with several eggs, some mayonnaise, a bit of onion and mustard, and some spices for flavor.  These are both extremely easy to make and would appeal to many viewers.

For the more advanced cook, he would bake some pretzel rolls and fill them with turkey (or can substitute other meats), egg, cheese, creating a simple dough and then preparing the filling and baking them.  For dessert, he would make a meringue for a pie or a pudding.  His favorite pudding is an old southern style banana pudding passed down from his family, made with bananas, wafers, and of course the meringue to top it all off.

Huuveri considers himself a pretty good cook when it comes grilling meat and other grill food. This is only his own opinion though. When it comes to cooking, Huuveri's choice of food would be a nice Angus Beef with baked potatoes and some red wine.

And that would be the meal in every episode. Huuveri would cook the food, drink wine and have a talk with his guests on the show. Huuveri's guests would be persons from the SHL. From team mates, GMs, coaches to rival players. The host and the guest should finish one wine bottle per person before the food is ready, to you know.. brighten up the mood and get the conversation going. Huuveri would ask some funny and interesting stories during the meal. After the dinner, the guest will bring his/hers choice of dessert drinks, whiskey gives extra points of course. And that would be it. Bon appetit!

The McCarthy-Darrow Bro Food Hour is a wonderful show where myself and my buddy @"hhh81: make some of our favorite family recipes, as well as make sure to grill and fry as much food as we can muster!
It starts out at the outdoor kitchen that McCarthy has installed in his suburb home, and the two friends take their time explaining the recipes, what they mean to them, and walk the audience through the steps on how to do it themselves. To be fair, this isn't any fancy food. We're talking burgers, lasagna, meats, cheese, garlic, fries and more. Yes, we have some presentation involved, and though the food may be bar or restaurant food, we definitely elevate the food to a higher end, both in taste and in presentation. After we take some questions from fans, talk hockey, and just generally have a great time. It's one of the better cooking shows you've ever seen!
