S66 PT #1: Opening Ceremony

What's going through Ben Waters Jr.'s head? Well here's one thing he knows: he thrives in the big moments. He is ready for this season because he's been training all offseason. Weightlifting, puckhandling drills, any form of improvement that he could possibly get his hands on. When it's game day though, he doesn't think of any of his preparation. He thinks of his family, Ben Waters Sr., his adopted siblings that have also played in the SHL, and anyone else that helped him on this journey. Those are the people he's worked to impress. Waters Jr. has already gone through his fair share of adversity so far: being traded before playing an SHL game and having a very poor second season. Thankfully, he's the type of player to really shine in adverse situations. He is bigger than his circumstances. This is his chance to prove himself, and he's looking to prove all his doubters wrong.

Creative Prompt - opening night

Secretly, somewhere in a back room of the Aurora organization was a brainstorming session so long, that the paint actually dried.  But what they dreamt up was everything that the fanbase wanted.  The Simulation Hockey League had been longing for this for an eternity.  That Master Plan was simple: produce as many SHL Cards as they possibly could and hand them out to every person walking in the building that day.

What about all the duplicates? a concerned member of the organization asked.  Won't they all just be worthless when there are thousands and thousands of the exact same Spack Jarrow card being opened up during the evening?  But that member was overshadowed by the zealousness of a few other members that knew "If we can somehow get the Aurora to print so many, I won't ever have to spend any of my own money opening packs again!"

And thus, the great Aurora Rip began as the 22,000 individuals entered the arena, each being given 3 packs of SHL trading cards.

CREATIVE PROMPT
It's the opening game of season 65 of the SHL, and the Los Angeles Panthers come in as the reigning champions after earning their first cup since season 17. It's obviously a pretty big deal for the team, and management wanted to do something to celebrate the occasion.

In their home opener, the team decided to get their banner raising ceremony out of the way immediately. While the banner went up they had live fireworks inside the rink. Given that only a few people got injured and no one died, it was a relative success. After the banner went up, they strapped skates onto real panthers and sent them out on the ice. This part would have been more dangerous than the fireworks, except luckily panthers can't skate very well, so once again only a few people were hurt. After a few minutes of watching some panthers flop around on the ice, they took them off and the LA Panthers team skated out on the ice with yet again more fireworks.

The whole event left fans rather confused at what they've just witnessed, but no one can deny that it created for a rather memorable evening for all.

So, it’s Season 66 here in Yukon! We’re looking to make a statement with the strongest roster the team has had. We are out here looking to inflict some punishment on the SMJHL. I will be honest, I miss the Outlaws branding, but seeing what the management team in Yukon has done has been awesome. We’re going to have a pregame rally out front of the arena with players and local celebrities stirring up the crowd into a frenzy. Luckily, it’s late summer, so up here in Yukon it may be cooler than most other markets in the J, but we can still spend time outdoors with fire pits and cornhole and more. We will have local sponsors with tents up with co-branded giveaways.

Once the fans walk into the arena, the first 5,000 fans will receive a “Howlin Good Time” tee-shirt. The shirt will have our logo and a local artist’s depiction of the roster.

We can’t wait to see how this season shakes down in Yukon!

Player Prompt:

Before the puck drops, ending a seemingly eternal offseason, Ty Murphy only has one thing on his mind: success.  The past couple of seasons have been a struggle for the young forward, winning the Challenge Cup on the backs of great veteran players with Hamilton in S61, getting traded to Toronto and having a flop of a season, and now this.  The offseason was filled with tough training.  Every single day it was focusing on eating to a calorie surplus, hitting the weights hard and heavy, and practicing skills on the ice with teammates.  As the puck is about to drop, Ty Murphy thinks about what he is helping build in Toronto.  A new era of a winning team, and he is looking to be the cornerstone.  His only hope is to get off to a hot start and keep it rolling.  Murphy aspires to be at least a point per game player by the end of the season, and maybe even get a few all star nods to go along with it.  This season will be a good one for the young forward.

New season after one kickass season as a rookie and all the emotions will be going through Bnana NWaffles on opening night. It will be one rollercoaster of emotions starting from getting to the rink and the realization that so many of the stars from the previous season are up skating with the big dawgs this season. This will definitely be a combination of nervousness and stress, which mainly comes from the thoughts that without so many will NWaffles need to put the team on his back and try to do too much, and will that be enough? But as soon as the opening ceremony will begin, all of that emotion will be washed away with the raising of the banner for winning the 4-Star cup the previous season! After the banner raising and seeing little Nashy boys face, the time to focus will envelope Bnana and will need to settle down, get the ice in the veins and get ready to play their game, and give the people a show!

For the very first home ice game the Nevada Battleborn decided to invest in some big-time Graphics and will project a Hologram of Ned, the NEvada Battleram running all over the arena, smashing into the Away stands head-first. Dominik Froste might have been drafted by the Monarchs at #7 OA, but will still play at least this season as a send-down at Nevada. This is perfectly fine though, as his RotY nomination and LR presence convinced the other players to vote him for Assistant Captain. While the ram makes his way through the Arena and the players lined up at the blue line, Froste looks to the A on his chest and smiles with a small sense of pride. His hard work has enabled him to play a great first season, he already made an impact and is well known. This season he can help Nevada reach for the Cup, before he is called up to the SHL.
Once more into the breach. The anticipation is rising.

The start of each season is quite strident and upsetting. It's necessary to tune in so that this beginning doesn't turn out to be a neat fiasco. Although the experience has been saved, there is also a kind of excitement about what is happening. Test games are a different thing, and regular-season games are already something else entirely. That's probably the problem this season as I wasn't in the mood enough for my role in the team. Now I have to be the team's first goalkeeper and its role needs to be brought out on a larger scale. Maybe I need to talk more to the media to feel more support. The rituals before the season are simple, the main thing is a cohesive collective that will be able to do things much better at once than an individual team game. So we have a joint dinner in the team to make friends. Such Community measures are necessary and do not form an internal nucleus without them. Maybe it's a little harder to play this season because the core of the team has changed, my friend and competitor in the goalkeeping line has gone to the adult league.

The Toronto North Stars have their opening night and to celebrate the new season they do what they do best... fireworks, sparklers and star shaped lights for the fan! Overall it is a very on brand night for the team. During the pregame show, as the players are entering the ice the fans are each given a battery powered flashlight in the shape of a star that is synced to the DJ music. Fans hold them up as a beautiful light show is seen from across the arena incorporating the lights. Throughout the game, with each goal the lights light up once more and sync to the goal song of the North Stars. Then, during the intermissions giant sparklers cannons are brought on the ice to shoot t-shirts into the stands. Lastly, as the fans exit the arena, fireworks shoot into the sky as fans can see spectacular star shaped fireworks. Overall a very star-themed night for the opening game at home!

As Buck sits on the bench waiting for coach to call his number there's a million emotions and thoughts running through Buck's head. It's his first game as part of the Minnesota Monarchs after four great year with the Zerks out in Newfoundland. There's excitement. There's some nervousness. There's adrenaline rushing through his body, all leading up to this moment. The big moment where Buck can finally say he made it to the big league's. Buck closes his eye's, takes a deep breath and goes back to what he knows to do best, and that's giving it his all to this team and to make an impact. Buck center's himself by remembering all that he was taught by other players and those around him when he was growing up. Buck uses these few moments before stepping onto the ice to make sure he's ready for his moment

Its opening night and the Buffalo Stampede have the biggest, craziest spectacle planned for the first home game of the season. Have you ever seen a stampede of buffalo on ice? Well now you have. WBF is actually an animal trainer and has his own herd of buffalo at home. He trains them on his free time and hosts a bunch of circus type events for kids during the offseason. Buffalo are actually very good skaters so there is no need to worry about them getting hurt. Our fearless coGM Seymour has also offered to clean the buffalo poop up after the events. What a great coGM, the arena staff said they got paid to do that, but he insisted. Along with the live buffalo we have the usual fireworks show, fastest shot competition, and many more kid friendly events. There is a raffle with signed team gear, photo and signature opportunities with the team and so much more.
