Hello and welcome to the Vancouver Whalers Award show for season 57! Coming off a season in which we saw the Whalers reach the semi finals in the playoffs, it’s time to look at the overall year and start handing out some hardware! We got some feedback from the team and have created this to show some of the players that helped us throughout the year. While not everyone will be taking an award home tonight, we all came together to create a fun season were we came up just short of making to the finals. No one expected us to get that far and the whole  team should be proud!!

MVP: Valtterri Kauppinen (Pythonic)
Vancouver had a super high power offense which boasted some very amazing names, with KOBO, Shuff, and Kappy going crazy this season hitting some of the top marks scoring wise and it was always going to be a tough race for the MVP status. But Kappy took his scoring to the next level; with 57 Points, from 27 goals and 30 assists. Him and KOBO created one of the deadliest one two punches in the league and Kappy stepped it up to another level in the playoffs. Kappy ended up taking home the Ronan O’Keefe award as he ended up scoring another 20 points smashing a record on the way. Kappy's stepped up in a huge way this season and will be taking home a Whaler MVP for his efforts
Top Defenseman: Zebulon Leavitt (Kraagenskul)
In one of the least surprising events of this awards ceremony this award will be given to Zebulon. One all sides of the ice, this guy dominated, best best player +/- side and also helped on the offensive side. Zebulon lead the team in almost all defensive stats and has been a huge force in our playoff run. This beast pushes fear into opposing offenses and the fact that he will be returning to play for us next season will be huge for us. He has earned this award and will be a keystone for use and will be happy to bring that energy with him next season.
Best Two Way Player: KnockedOut ByOvechkin (ddrector)
I mentioned earlier that Vancouver had a huge two headed monster of an attack with both Kapy and KOBO going off. Well now we will look at they guy who was the real heartbeat of the team. KOBO lead our team in assist with 37, and had the same amount of points as kappy with 57. KOBO also fufilled the 2nd part of a two way player with his defensive player with him having 89 shots blocks, KOBO is a huge part of this team and will be taking home this award and will continue to light up the league with kapy next season.
Best Goalie: Jon St. Ark (Arkz)

In a shocking result, Arkz somehow got 100% of the vote for him to take home this award. This might be due to the fact he is the starting goalie, and started more than 7 games. But also Arkz was the only active goalie. A great shot stopper for the whalers, with a .902 SV, and being in net when we won 29 out of the 30 games we won this season, Arkz is a huge tendy and the much younger defense we will be using next season will feel a lot more confident with this man behind them.
Unsung Hero: Devin Basher(HanTheMan_)
This was probably the closest category with one vote separating the top 3. Before I talk about Basher, I will give a shout out to both Rotzbua, who was one of the only players on the team with a positive plus minus, and had an tremendous rookie campaign, and ASM who despite being a DFA, was able to make a huge impact on our playoff run. However both these guys just missed out to our winner in Basher, with 32 points, this guy was able to really make some huge plays down the stretch, becoming one of the better weapons off the bench. We will miss him this year, but hope he enjoys playing for the Steelhawks.

Rookie Award: Zayne Rotzbua (inverted)

Despite not having any picks early, Vancouver managed to snag a lot of top notch rookies in the draft who ended up being higher picks in the SHL draft. With names like Smith, Boyle and Manyhand all in the running, the fact that Rotzbua ended up winning clearly over his fellow rookies is a testament to his season. One of the only players to end the season with a positive plus minus, Rotzbua proved to the the teams that passed on him, that he is a future star, and should help Vancouver defense for seasons to come!! Rotzbua will be hoping to build on this season and will be taking home the RoTY award for Vancouver
Best Locker Room Presence: Pythonic
[Image: cQwqrWX.jpeg].
This award was a tough one with many good canidates. In the end it was two names that seem to be getting the most votes. Narboza Manyhands, known lovingly as "The Alien" was a player who was willing to learn and teach about both his home planet and learn about the strange ways of us earthling, despite some odd moments with his research, were he would seemingly test on his teammate, he was a charming addition to the locker. But lets talk about Pythonic aka Kappy, despite being very smelly, he was a huge impact in the locker room, elected one of the Assistant Captains, Pythonic stepped up into a huge leadership roll for Vancouver, helping rookies getting used to the fast pace world of SHL, as well as always being around to help trash talk and goof around in the locker room. This year with both the MVP and This award, one could say that Pythonic is the face of the whalers right now, and i could see him expanding his roll EVEN MORE next season. A great user and great dude, Pythonic earned this award

Best Deep Dive:  The Breeding Potential of the Anchorage Armada

Everything Manyhands wrote this year was gold, and I believe that this was one of the best Deep Dives for the entire season, not much more to say other than, if you have not been keeping up with the aliens media posts, please do yourself a favor and jump on this

Best Media Piece: x2 Holidays Media - Vancouver Whalers S56 Team Awards

It takes a lot of talent to make a season awards post more than halfway through a season, but Pythonic managed to put off his duties of SOO MUCH, that by the time he was able to actually post this; He got the x2 Holiday bonus, truly iconic, and while it probably isnt the best thing written by a Vancouver player, it is too iconic to ignore
