I have been to Kelowna many times IRL and it is beautiful. Go if you have a chance. If you mean the Kelowna Knights, I was drafted there in S14 with my first player, and was GM for 2 seasons back in S19/20

My initial build is based on the Counter-Attacking Forward role from FHM, and that will be my eventual SHL role. The idea is to be defensively responsible but also to be able to turn the puck up the ice based on speed and precision passing to get a shot on goal or create a scoring chance. That being said, SMJHL is different than SHL and I don't know much about what is most useful with a limited cap build. I am 100% open to building my player towards what is best suited for the role the team has in mind. Right now I am just banking any TPE until after the draft so whatever would help the team the most is what I will do.

• Not really a philosophy, but I've learned not to overlook the little things in life.  You can't ever get those moments back.  It's always going to seem like work if you don't stop and take it all in once in a while.

• I would expect everyone to be here for the same reason - fun!  I'd like to see a healthy culture without toxicity.  One filled with acceptance, positivity, and respect.
  

- What’s your favorite Pokemon? Why?

• It was something I never really got into.  I enjoyed collecting sports cards/memorabilia more as a kid.
  

- What type of player are you looking to build? Are you looking to play a more offensive or defensive role?

• An offensive role.  I'm primarily aiming to be a playmaker with exceptional vision and passing that's quick and good with the puck on his stick - always looking to find the open man to create great scoring chances.  I don't want to skimp too much on my shooting abilities so I can put pucks in the net myself and do not want to be a defensive liability (mostly stickchecking to keep the attackers off balance and gain/regain possession), so I'll be looking to improve there occasionally as well.  Not really physical, but strong enough to not be easily knocked off the puck.

I'm the biggest team player ever. Whatever my juniors team needs, whatever my majors team needs, just slot me in coach. You can go into as much detail as you want. Trying to be as positive as possible, even though it's not entirely possible, and believing the good in people as much as I can. I'm not always the best at this, but whenever I can take some time to reflect, it's very clear that most people don't do things out of malice.

- What do you value in your team locker room? Activity that isn't just focused on hockey, the NHL or the SHL. Obviously talking about the sport that most people are here for is okay (and I'd love to learn more!) but since I don't know a ton about hockey, those are conversations I find myself watching more than participating in. I'm a super active and chatty person, but I have know a little bit about the topic to want to pop in. As long as I can chat away about video games, memes, football, or other non-hockey things, I'll be good. I just want good people around me.

I have never watched any form of hockey in my life. Have never paid attention to the sport, am only marginally familiar with a few team names that have been mentioned since joining the league. Dallas Stars? Detroit Redwings? OOH! There is a Lightning team that I remember sounding cool. That is the extent of my hockey knowledge.

- How many hours a week do you usually have free? (ie. 1, 3, 6+, etc.)

I spend around 20-30 hours a week involved with sim leagues if that is more what this question is asking.

- Is water wet?

Not if you're a penguin! Fun fact! penguins are completely waterproof. They have waterproof feathers and even secrete waterproof oil from a special gland in their body. They don't get wet, so could water really be wet? i think not.

- Locker rooms take place on discord. Do you use it and how often?  If not, would you be willing to try it to be a part of your team’s locker room?

I use discord almost all day every day, especially during the work hours in CST. From around 6am-6pm. I also use it some in the afternoons and weekends, but not quite as often as I'm normally busy playing vidja games or hanging with my girlfriend. I'm one of the most active players in discords across the ISFL though and I don't see that changing here.

- What are your general expectations of your juniors career? Are you looking for a long and successful career as a junior player, or are you hoping to be called up to the big leagues as soon as possible?


Honestly I have no goals or objectives for this league. I'm just here to chill and hang out with new people. I don't pay attention to my player in ISFL or SCFSL, two other leagues I'm in. I'm just there for the locker room. My plans for my player is whatever my GMs need it to be. I'm going to be a max earner, but outside of that I'm flexible. I'm willing to play any position, any role, anytime. I picked defensive defender strictly because it is a supportive role that doesn't get the flashy stats, which is perfectly fine with me as I'm not the kind of guy who routinely checks the box scores.

- Have you ever heard about Kelowna before joining this league?

Absolutely not, but I'd also never heard of Yellowknife before I joined the ISFL and came across the Wraiths!

- How do you feel about walruses?

Walruses are pretty chill. They don't interact with penguins often though, so I don't know much about them except they're big blubber balls with giant tusks. May have to research them some later though!

- What is your general life philosophy? You can go into as much detail as you want.

Live, love, eat tacos! Jokes aside, I strive to be as chill as possible. Don't take life too seriously you know? You live and then you die. Don't spend too much of that time angry or you might really miss some of what life has to offer.

Defense is excellent at keeping animals in a specific area. That is why there are so many different kinds! You have chicken fence made with mesh wire. You have ranch fence that is usually made of large, strong wooden posts to keep in bigger creatures. You have run of the mill yard fence to keep in dogs. Honestly if this question specified which fence, I might go into more detail, but it just says defense.

- What do you value in your team locker room?

Just a relaxed atmosphere that doesn't take games too seriously and talks about more than just the sim. The sim is cool and all, but that isn't why I am here at all. I'm just here to hang out and if the only time the team talks is when they're upset about a loss, it makes it a bit more difficult to get involved. Shrug off the losses and move on. There is always a next game.

Piplup. Ez. My discord PFP is a penguin, my player is a penguin, I am a..Penguin? Well, not quite. Still, penguins are cool as heck and Piplup is a penguin so he's basically the GOAT. I mean penguin.

Honestly it is whatever my GM needs. I don't pay attention to my player. I'm going to be a max earner, but what that looks like is whatever helps the team the most. I was told defensive defender isn't popular due to lack of flashy stats, but could be essential to winning. That is my style and I'm cool with that. At the end of the day I'm flexible and even willing to swap positions entirely. I don't take this place too seriously.

- Do you follow any hockey teams outside of the SHL, be they in the NHL or other hockey leagues? Being from New England,I candidly consider myself a Bruins fan, though I couldn’t name a single player on the team.

- How many hours a week do you usually have free? (ie. 1, 3, 6+, etc.) A lot, and at the same time none at all. Probably more than I should.

- Is water wet? Inherently so.

- Locker rooms take place on discord. Do you use it and how often?  If not, would you be willing to try it to be a part of your team’s locker room? I’m on Discord daily, throughout all hours of the day.

- What are your general expectations of your juniors career? Are you looking for a long and successful career as a junior player, or are you hoping to be called up to the big leagues as soon as possible? I have no real long term plans. Presumably my eventual SHL team will have some desire of when I’m called up or sent down, and I’ll abide by that. 

- Have you ever heard about Kelowna before joining this league? Never. But after doing some Google investigating, I have some questions:

• What’s with the team's logo/mascot? Kelowna is the Okanagan First Nation word for “grizzly bear”. That seems like a slam dunk for a logo idea, instead we got some sort of Greek soldier?
  
• Kelowna was known regionally for some time for the steamships that docked there… has it ever been confirmed that the team plays on a refurbished steamship that has an ice rink in its center?
  

- How do you feel about walruses? I prefer mine done in an Instant Pot, where I find it to be less rubbery and more succulent after about 45 mins on a low setting. Pair with your standard mirepoix, a healthy portion from a bottle of red at least 27 years aged, and fresh herbs and spices (I prefer oregano, thyme, and basil… but creativity is encouraged! Imagine a delicious walrus curry, yum yum.) Speaking from personal experience, Walrus is the ultimate “party pleaser” and is a great conversation starter for casual and fine dining atmospheres.

- What is your general life philosophy? You can go into as much detail as you want. I believe the great American philosopher Curtis James Jackson III said it best when he said: “Get rich or die tryin’” Alternatively, Thurgood Marshall’s suggestion of: “I expect to die at 110, shot by a jealous husband” is equally fitting.

- Please finish the following sentence: “Defense is _______________.” Defense is a moat and four strong walls. Why we as the human experiment ever moved on from the Motte-and-Bailey style defense is beyond me. Consider the amount of success the United Kingdom has seen with the design dating back to the 10th century and ask yourself: At this point are we really just trying to improve upon perfection? If it was good enough for the Normans, then it’s good enough for me.

- What do you value in your team locker room? Activity, and a chill place to hang out. Good people, who do stuff besides just watch the sim.

- What’s your favorite Pokemon? Why? Donphan, because the opening to 1998’s Pokemon: The First Movie is badass.

- What type of player are you looking to build? Are you looking to play a more offensive or defensive role? I’d like to be the most successful hockey player/serial killer in league history when it’s all said and done.
