We are looking to hire two (2) Head GMs for two separate expansion team positions.

Here’s everything that you should know to apply for the SMJHL Expansion GM positions. Creating a brand new team is difficult, and adding to it the importance of being a developmental GM for our league, we in Head Office cannot stress how important it is we find the right personnel for the job. In addition to the questions and ideas we look for from our general GM applications, it's important we really understand your vision for the team moving forward. As we look to support our newest SMJHL teams, those interested in applying should think to answer the following questions:

What prior experiences do you have running a team, developing users, and developing a community from scratch?
- What experience do you have?
- Skills?
- Jobs you’ve had in the past that would assist in this endeavor
- Letters of recommendation or other references?
- Obligations in life or in sim leagues that we should be aware of that may limit your time or availability

What are your plans for the team?
- What is your development league philosophy?
- What kind of community culture do you hope to build?
- How will you engage new users? Build community from your expansion draft users?
- How will you build your war room and scouting teams?
- How would you resolve conflict?
- Draft and team goals and timelines? In a perfect world, what’s the future for your team?
- How long do you plan to GM? Are you in this for the long haul, or hoping to establish the team and then pass off the leadership to others?

- Team Name
- Location
- Logo (While not coming with a logo isn’t an instant disqualifier, we want to make sure you are thinking about the image for your team)
- Additionally, where/how are you looking to secure a graphic? What steps can you take to make sure your future team will be eligible to purchase from the SHL Merch Store
- Colors (primary/secondary)
- Make sure your branding options include rationale behind those options (aka, you can’t just say Sarasota Moose, there should be something tying the branding to the location)

Additionally, you may have other information, thoughts, graphics, logos and more, please feel free to include it in your application. You can create a Google doc, discord message, slideshow, or other media to help present your vision for your application for expansion.

Applications will close on Thursday, March 7, 11:59 PM PST

If you are currently on an SMJHL team, please let your GMs know first of your intentions to apply for expansion.

Thank you to all that applied. We had a very strong group of applicants that made this decision very difficult. The SMJHL HO has come to a decision and we will be awarding expansion teams to @Frenchie and @SDCore. Team Locations, Names and Details to follow soon.
