Hello league!
We just finished the third edition of the SHL Graphics Academy which included a beginner's class and I would like to write a recap about it and of course show the results. You can look at the
first and
second time we held this academy in the linked threads.
Enough people signed up to fill three groups and each group worked through three tasks in parallel over the course of six weeks. The idea was to learn how to make a basic sig from start to finish with the basic elements of a player render with a jersey swap, a background and some text. For every task the participants received some written guide and were encouraged to experiment and look for additional tutorials to learn the basics. They had a week time to submit their graphic and then they had a week to collect feedback which then could be incorporated into their graphic for the following week. Of course this 'academy' can't teach a lot in such a short time with limited options, but I still think the results speak for themselves. We used to include the before > after graphics last time, but since some users changed renders throughout the six weeks it wouldn't really be useful, so I will skip that part.
I would like to thank everyone who signed up, participated - especially those that stayed until the very end - and of course the mentors who helped out with their expert knowledge.

This was a lot of fun. I think going through this with other people was really motivating. Peer feedback feels a lot better than waiting to see what graders think, which was always something that scared me away from doing more graphics.
biggest takeaway from this is to just keep practicing! practice makes progress

This was a fun course and i want to thank you all for putting it on, as i said in my final post i had zero experience coming into this and now i have the confidence and knowledge to keep working at it. I HIGHLY recommend anyone to join next seasons academy if they want to learn the basics of graphics. Carpy and the gang do a great job.
