Matiss during the off-season is always nearby the training facilities and ice rink so that when new players come into the team he is always available to help them out and show them around. Matiss is always willing to help new players get accustomed to the new surroundings and get them up to speed as far as the systems and the team works. The only way to have a successful team and season is if everyone is on the same page and that can only happen if everyone knows what to do and when to do it. The faster new players can get systems understood the better the team will be going into the season. With Matiss going to off-season training everyday he will always be a person that new players can talk to and learn from since he is a veteran on the team. Matiss is always willing to take a mentor role to be able to help the team in any way that he can.

Max has always tried to take a leadership role for his teams. One thing he clearly remembers is how out of place and lost he felt in his rookie season in the J. It wasn't anyone's fault really but he definitely could have used some more structured mentorship.

So Max has annually had a little rookie symposium of sorts where Max shows the rookies the ropes of moving into the pro leagues in hockey. He shares his own experiences of how he felt at the start as well as a ton of other things he wished he knew.

One of the topics is nutrition in general. As these kids are no longer going to be able to out-talent their opponents, it's important to make sure you're giving your body the best fuel it can get in order to stay in the game. Another thing he does is help the rooks with finances and living situations. For many of these young kids, it's the first time they've really had any sort of wealth and he's seen too many blow everything partying and buying dumb shit. He honestly thinks that management themselves should be doing this, but until then, he's got the young kids backs.

Option 2

What I do in the off season to show leadership is help management with all kinds of tasks and help the organization get ready for the new season. Last season we lost the cup final and after that game I called all players at my house to celebrate a great season. Maybe that sounds weird, but it was a good thing to do. After a few weeks of holiday I kept the guys motivated and now I am preparing training camp for the guys to start the new season. Helping the rookies to get setup and show them around the building. I have taken them out to the city to get to learn that as well and even offered some of them shelter in my storm shelter during hurricane Milton. That shit was pretty scary, but luckily the storm did not do to much damage and I hope all the fans are okay as well and their property is safe.

James manages to endear himself to management by being a solid presence on the ice and in the locker room. As soon as they leave the arena James becomes just another guy, but within he does his best to be a reliable foundation for younger members of the team. He remembers being a new hockey player, back before he joined the SHL, where he had to claw his way to notability, and how awful it was. You have to be able to trust your teammates, to pass the puck when you need to. James knows to give those opportunities to others, running endless drills to teach them not only where they need to improve, but remind them of where they already succeed. For management, this is a huge plus because it gives them an obvious go-to for strategies and just makes them money. On the personal side though, even though many would have trouble seeing this act as anything but pragmatic, it's remembering the little things that makes James notable as a leader.

Experience is often talked about in sports but until you are veteran yourself you seldom understand just how important it is. When the pressure is on, when you are under scrutiny for a string of poor performances or just when you need a calm head on your shoulders it is always helpful to be able to say "been there, done that". Sometimes younger or more inexperienced players will start to wilt when the heat is turned up and it is helpful to have older guys there to settle everything down or to put an arm around their shoulder and offer some guidance. Red was lucky enough that his dad played over 1000 games in the SHL so before he even stepped on the ice for the first time for the Forge he had a wealth of knowledge and experience to call on if he needed it. Now it is his turn as an older statesman to guide and nurture the next generation of players.

Written Option 2:

Slip McScruff has a special job every offseason where he has to show a new management why he is worth the bare minimum. He hangs outside the free agency building, which definitely exists, with a sign that says he'll work for pennies, which in practice ends up as the lowest amount he can legally be paid. He doesn't assist anyone else in getting up to speed because he's slower than them and still figuring his way around the arena. He's got years and years of experience in every arena in the league, but he's now on his tenth new home arena. He's actually taped up a sign by the away team locker room which says "turn around dummy".

Probably the worst part of this offseason song and dance is having to rebrand all his social media profiles to talk about being on some new team. He's got a sign in the back of his livestream setup which has layers and layers of tape covering the previous name. The biggest livestream of the year is adding the new tape, then people seem to forget about him again until next time.

Andrea certainly is the kind of person to get closely involved with the team's activities and endeavour. It's true that training can take a lot from one on its own, but as he's getting increasingly comfortable with the environment and the challenges he's to meet, he can be seen more and more involved in following up his companion's development.
Whenever the occasion calls for it, he may deem appropriate to take the role of a sort of coach and advisor, for whenever his teammates may need either a gentle nudge or a bucket of cold water on their faces. But always trying to serve as an example. Not for others to aspire or to imitate, but to motivate and encourage to ever keep pushing forward.

However, for the team to perform at a high level, individual skill alone would not suffice, let alone be enjoyable! So he's one from his early days was eagerly participative during social gatherings and is actively involved in the development of the team's spirit and distinctive dynamics. For the team to become whole, each of their members should feel enjoyment and a certain pride in being a part of this greater puzzle. And while this may sound suspiciously cult-like behaviour, I assure you Andrea would have no such ulterior motives but to make of Hockey something that can become professionally competent while still remaining highly enjoyable.

I think Cade de Vries would definitely take the offer for the North Stars, given how it will be his first rookie season for the team, and he will be announcing for the new rookies for the team. He would be really pumped and happy about the offer. He would definitely make a slight show of it, more with enthusiasm and hyping up the picks than any outrageous stunts or monologues. Maybe more like a WWE promo hyping up a new team member than anything. Plus, with his size, he could definitely make for a funny photo with the new team member. When the draft happened, TOR wasn't even picking until the early 3rd round. However, when they get to that picks, de Vries was overjoyed to be calling his own Battleborn Brethren of Tomas Suchanek up to the podium. A big ol' hug played out between the 2 players, with both of them having developed a great team chemistry that is now brought to TOR
