The Toronto North Stars finished the season seventy two Simulation Hockey League in nineteeth place, or in other words as the second worst team in the entire league. However, they also finished 9th in the Eastern Conference, meaning they were only one place out of a coveted playoff spot. So one could say the Stars, despite being in the midst of a rebuild, almost pulled off the impossible and made it into the postseason. They finished with 32 points, 12 points behind the 8th placed Tampa Bay Barracuda. At first glance, this gap may seem quite cavernous, but diving into the stats it seems closer than it first appears. The North Stars were the victim of poor luck this past season, as evidenced by their poor team PDO with only two players with a PDO of over 100. Clearly the sim gods were out to get Toronto this season, denying this mighty team a shot at the coveted Challenge Cup.

What, am you saying to Patya that Patya am just teach whole galaxy to play the hockeys without realizing it, due to super smart mice? And that mice am thinking that hockey am answer to all questions ever had in time? First of all, this very silly. Patya glad for whole galaxy to know hockey, but silly aliens am not knowing hockey cannot answer everything. Is okay, Patya am tell them this. But wait, Hairy Bettmouse am not sounding much nice. He not wanting for let SHL function because he am very greedy mouse? This make Patya angry, and Patya never getting angry. Patya have to solve this. Patya not believing in time travel so silly idea for slingshot around is not so much for Patya. That plan sound much like more for Christopher Nolan. Patya very much liking his movies. Patya not necessarily against blowing up greedy little mouse ship, but prefer to not solve problems with violence for make good role model for rest of galaxy, just like he doing on Earth! Patya thinking he say his team play one season in PGHL, and if winning their cup, Earth allowed for go free. Patya so confident in team and this way is best sounding solution for everyone.

Our hockey team has secured a spot in the playoffs due to our relentless commitment and exceptional teamwork. Our offense boasts skilled forwards who can both finesse the puck and power through defenses, while our defense is rock-solid, with a goalie who's been a game-changer all season. We've analyzed our playoff opponents thoroughly, identifying their weaknesses and crafting a strategy to exploit them. Our special teams are exceptional, and our camaraderie off the ice is unmatched. We're well-prepared for the playoffs and believe that with our skill, strategy, and unity, we're about to demolish our opposition and make a deep run in the postseason. And you can’t forget about Hirano. Literally gonna carry this team into the second round of the playoffs. I just looked at my stats from the regular season so I think I would know what I am talking about. Go patriots go!

Creative Prompt:

Well, this is absolutely unnacceptable. My team of aliens have been working hard over the past however long, meeting and successfully completing challenge after challenge that was throw at us with flying colours. We have proven that no one can challenge us and that we are indeed the best hockey team in the galaxy, and if they want to copyright and try to make money off of us, that wont do. They should be HONOURED to have us in their league, the fact that we would give hairy bettmouse and his minions the time of day is a shocking concept. We will enter the PGHL for the next season for rights to hockey on earth, not on the premise that if we win the league, we get to stay independent, but that if we lose a combined 5 games total, we will give up the rights freely. Thats how confident we are that we are the greatest hockey playing team in the galaxy.

Creative prompt: With the SHL sharing 150% of it gross profits, that turns out being about $3.50 a month for Mr. Bettmouse. The two faced lying cheat will get his just desserts though. He should have never messed with Earth's mightiest hero Antoine Beauregard. In order to win back the rights to the SHL I would challenge Bettmouse to a one on one game of posts. He wouldnt be able to run or hide it would be galactically televised for all to see. The winner would be able to call themself the king of games and decide the fate of hockey. Of course I would win though, I am a champion of hockey. Not only that, but fighting would be legal. I wouldn't hold back and I'd punch Bettmouse in his beady little eye. The whole galaxy would see what a little turd burger he is. After destroying him physically and emotionally I would pack my bags and head back home to Earth for a fresh baguette.

Berserkers Wolfpack France

The Philadelphia Forge managed to beat very strong opponents in Hamilton and Atlanta in their first two matchups of the playoffs, and now they are playing the New England Wolfpack. Easy pickings for the Philly Forgers is whats expected from the series, because Luke is a terrible GM who does not understand proper managing. Sure he may have a challenge cup but that part is not important to me so it will be disregarded. In the playoffs so far several Forge players have been cooking well above average level, most of all team talisman Evil Allbran, who has elevated his game to another level after a somewhat quiet regular season. Ricky Koivu has also started to really come into his own these playoffs after a disappointing regular season, and he is ready to ratio his brother Paul in this series. It will be very tight, considering that New England are very impressive this season too, but the Forge will surely get it done. (163 words)

Thank you to @Revontulete!

I know the prompt is to write about how we are going to demolish our opponent, but I don't really believe in being cocky. I feel like it's bad karma. However I have no problem with being confident. So far we have cruised through these playoffs, dropping only one game in our second round against Chicago. Beating Edmonton will be no small feat however. They tied the season series with us 2-2 and they have been scoring at will throughout the playoffs, with 5 scorers in the top 15 compared to our 2. However I believe we have the edge in two key areas. Edmonton have not played a defensive core as good as ours these playoffs, and I believe they are unable to match our big three of O'Neil, Kinsinger and Beck, and not to mention grizzled vet and legend Ethan Duncan who has played out of his mind these playoffs. I also think we have the edge in experience. While we've come so close to the cup so many times but unable to grasp it, we still know how to make it there, having done so 3 straight times. We know what it takes to make it to the final and we plan on doing it again and finishing the job this time.

CREATIVE PROMPT / STORY MODE

I'm not sure why you assume I want to save the world from this prospective eternity of ad revenue and synergistic marketing. I can play for the love of the game in my own time, but on professional ice, it's time to make money. As a player representative in this organization, I can try to influence from the inside to make the league the best place in the galaxy to both play and make a lot of money. How can we monetize every square inch of the ice and uniform without compromising the integrity of the sport?

First off, new special edition jerseys for every season with and without ads. Fans can buy jerseys without ads for more money, either way someone is paying the league. A portion of these profits will be recycled back through to support designers and attract more prestigious talent.

Second off, the league will own broadcasting rights. We should be making all the profits for broadcasting, not regional networks which are owned by parent corporations not affiliated directly with the sport. Everything will be in our control and we can run whatever league-wide promotions we need. However, we'll staff deep local coverage for every team instead of shallow national coverage.

Lastly, no salary cap. Players are here to make money, just like owners and we don't want to suppress their wages. We'll support good players in small markets by helping them monetize their image to make up for lower gate income.

Then, I'll become so popular that I'll replace Hairy Bettmouse and rule the galaxy of hockey.

I am not sure what our game plan was supposed to be, but I think it was something like this. Give the puck to Grogu Mandoson and he will give it to Mads McBride who will score. This worked for a while in the first round, but in the second round not so much apart from one game sadly. The other lines did their best, but we’re simply not good enough compared to Grogu and Mads. They are from another level.

Now that the playoffs are over we will prepare our gameplan for our golf tournament down in Miami Beach. Mads sucks at golfing but Grogu has been practicing all year. Not sure how he does this between al the practices. Guess he is just a natural talent. I should be able to be better too at golfing than I am at hockey. But we will see how it is going to end up during our tournament.

Story Mode:

Darnell was born and raised in the USA and as such, he's got war and violence in his veins. Imagine the plot of Starship Troopers but instead of bugs it's space mice and instead of machine guns and questionable small unit infantry tactics it's hockey and Shoresy reruns. I guess in this analogy slap shots would be the tactical nukes? I don't really know. What I do know is that the humans and other aliens who don't like the IGHL would band together to form a probably quite less than rag-tag resistance to big hockey and crusade around the galaxy chirping mice, slapping bombs (into mice exhaust ports) and clapping moms (unrelated to the war, just gotta keep the morale high I guess) until the IGHL decided that maybe they were better off just ignoring earth and the more war-like corners of the galaxy. I think that maybe we could also just really shorten the war by weaponizing Canadian geese in some way.
