Here we go!
ROUND 12 Round 12, Pick 177: Team SDCore Selection: D - Aumy Jr. Reasoning: Aumy is an up and coming stud defensive player. Most of my D are beyond the peak or just at the peak. Aumy gives me a chance to extend some of my life span with being a bit younger and a solid earner. Round 12, Pick 178: Team Boom Selection: D - Pojo Biscuit Reasoning: Bojo is a SHL lifer and an up-and-coming defenseman. With the young guys Biscuit and Lambert on the defensive line, I should be set here for a long time, and bringing in an SHL legend is always a plus. Round 12, Pick 179: Team Hordle Selection: D - Kenny Creller Reasoning: I believe that Creller has position swapped. However I will keep them at defense to help strengthing my core. Round 12, Pick 180: Team Puff Selection: F - Collin Gibbles Reasoning: A two-way forward, Gibbles brings excellent versatility to the second line that I have assembled, able to play defense or offense as the situation requires. Round 12, Pick 181: Team Arkz Selection: D - Darnell Johnson Reasoning: Darnell doesn't have a lot left in the tank, but still like his spot here as a veteran presence on the team. He won't be asked to do much for long, just want to make sure he can keep his TPE over 1000. Round 12, Pick 182: Team Nham Selection: D - Joorgustraad DuBolk Reasoning: Defensive depth is key in this league and another young defenseman with a long career with promising prospects of being a top end player will make this defensive corp scary in a few seasons. For anybody who’s kept track of the SHL general channel, MCP is always the first to greet new faces and seemingly lives on Discord 24/7 for whatever reason. Round 12, Pick 183: Team Luke Selection: F - Alexander Oscarsson Reasoning: An A- type of player for the S55 class, Zema/Alexander Oscarsson is someone that can fit on the 3rd line with immense room to grow onto the 2nd line in the future. A later end of the core I want to build around Round 12, Pick 184: Team Fae Selection: F - Jean-Uhtred Ragnarsson-Tremblay Reasoning: Finishing my lineup down the middle is JURT, a rookie center who is a great defensive presence. I could easily see JURT being a Bergeron-esque 1C someday. Round 12, Pick 185: Team Jeff Selection: F - Barrett Blackwood Reasoning: Skars is a really good friend of mine from the ISFL. He’s a great LR presence and someone who will always be helpful and happy to lend a hand when needed. Not to mention his player is someone our team could use on the wing as we move forward. An exciting pick here as I bring in a good friend in the later rounds despite his regressing player. Round 12, Pick 186: Team JY Selection: F - Andreas Kvalheim Reasoning: I have always loved raymond and have so much respect for him as a person and as a player in the league, Kvalheim is fantastic and will be a great leader for the young group we have as well as meshing with Elijah Jones on the top line to give us immediate firepower Round 12, Pick 187: Team Reid Selection: F - Ola Wagstrom Reasoning: Here I go off of my path so far and snag one of the top TPE forwards still available. Wagstrom is several seasons into regression, but still has plenty of TPE, and can hang around in the top 6 to round out my winter spots quite easily for several seasons. His build is very offensive, so as he falls out of the top 6, he can morph into the power play sniper on the team. He wont need to be replaced by a prospect too soon, so that's why I like this pick of a vet. Round 12, Pick 188: Team Muted Selection: P - Asclepius Perseus Flitterwind Reasoning: One of the top earners of S55, Flitterwind will be of great value to the future of this Detroit based franchise. He's a good lockerroom presence, even as a senddown in the big boys lockerroom. I'm sure that once he gets the call, he will provide the fireworks we expect. Round 12, Pick 189: Team Gabe Selection: P - Evangelos Giannopoulos Reasoning: Happy to land the crodie here at this pick. My homeboy and fellow Montrealer brings a lot of activity to the table as a prospect and already made a probably HOF player in Flacko Lagerfield, so he's a pretty safe bet as a prospect pick. Also is familiar with a lot of the main LR guys I previously picked. Round 12, Pick 190: Team Sve7en Selection: F - Walton Stromberg Reasoning: Depending on how the draft goes from here, Stromberg can potentially fill straight into the top 6, leaving me almost set on forwards for a while. I've held sulovilen in high regard from the get go, getting to know them well via RED, and they're underrated in this draft to be on the board as a max earner at this point. Round 12, Pick 191: Team Fishy Selection: P - Sarah Burke Reasoning: Kya, from everything I've heard from her DSFL players, to the SHL users shes interacted with, is a wonderful person. Kya will likely slot in to my third pairing following her final J season. I'm happy to have her on board, and her peak will coincide with MAS and Laser beginning regression. Round 12, Pick 192: Team Sparky Selection: P - Zelma Zuntnere Reasoning: Z.. she is going to be a future MVP, her amazing sniper skills will put her on the top of everyone's list for fantasy each season. Biggest Surprise: Fishy - Darnell Johnson or Kenny Creller here in round 12. Both of these players have been considered inactive for a decent chunk of time now, with Creller being infamous for his departure of the LAP organization. I think both, considering their activity, would have been available in later rounds, with a number of similar tpe but active defenceman like Ford, Shuff, Montgomery, and more all still available. Shuff: Aumy Jr. 177 to SDCore. Aumy has been a good earner, but his reputation, reformed and better behaved of late or not, is one of a locker room cancer. I’m all for giving guys second chances, but I wouldn’t have seen it going for early. Especially with the emphasis most teams have put on having a good locker room. Reid - I am going to chime in and agree with Fishy here on Johnson and Creller. More so with Creller as he as been 100% MIA for a long time now. Add that to the fact that he is only a few seasons away from regression and that is a major yikes, especially when there are prospect defenders still available who have almost as much TPE as him. Biggest Steal: Fishy - I think getting Wagstrom or Kvalheim here, at 186 and 187 overall, each qualify as steals. Both are still elite TPE earners, each having extended their peak a long time and are both still top line players for now and prob for another 1-2 seasons. Even then, they should serve as valuable depth pieces for a number of more seasons, great selections here. Shuff: Ola Wagstrom at 187 to Reid. I feel like Reid has the ability to use Wagstrom for maybe a season or two and then move him for draft picks to one of the win-now teams. More so as those win-now teams don’t have the savvy GMs, so a trade could end up lopsided. In terms of assets, Wagstrom is a very good one to nab in the 12th round. Reid: JSS going late here. The chief crodie is an excellent locker room presence and is also a high TPE prospect. JSS has been around the block, and you know he will build a good player - if you ignore his first few attempts. Usually users with HOF players that are good in the LR are gone by now. ROUND 13
Round 13, Pick 193: Team Sparky Selection: D - Tony Ford Reasoning: Tony Ford he is a nice piece to the second line of our Defense. He is hitting regression as well, but his offensive mind will help lead what ever line he is on with shooting the puck and having someone being there to put the puck on the net from a rebound. Round 13, Pick 194: Team Fishy Selection: F - Taylor Johansson Reasoning: TayJay was a draft steal, having slipped in the draft due to activity concerns. TayJay will form a young line oozing with potential with Rotti and Tylar and will likely be my top line when Smeb and Dan begin to regress. Happy to have him on board. Round 13, Pick 195: Team Sve7en Selection: F - Commander Shepard Reasoning: Easily the best short term option left on the board, Shepard has the highest TPE on the board by 100, has the highest 3 year outlook by 90 TPE, and is only bested over the next 8 seasons overall by 8 remaining F prospects/young players where I need someone to ensure my top 6 is set for a while. Round 13, Pick 196: Team Gabe Selection: F - Guðmundur Kristjánsson Reasoning: Fluw is a nice and funny guy from the somewhat limited interactions I've had with him, and he's also been a great add for NEW who's earned quite well and I'm sure has been a very positive presence in their Discord. Round 13, Pick 197: Team Muted Selection: D - Elias Kierkegaard Reasoning: Another Swiss defender, ready to take over from Seger in the future. Being S54, Kierkegaard has his best seasons still ahead of him. We'll see him out on the ice as part of our first defense pair soon enough. Round 13, Pick 198: Team Reid Selection: P - Teylora Petrov Reasoning: My first prospect off the board. My general theory with drafting was to go young core-> high end prospects -> vets that the prospects can replace in a season or two. Here I wanted to take a defensive prospect, as I know that elite ones can be hard to find. Petrov is towards the top of her class, an awesome LR presence (so I am told) and is an all around blue chipper. She will step in and replace one of the vets I draft later, and still fit the core of my already drafted team. Round 13, Pick 199: Team JY Selection: G - Cillian Kavanagh Reasoning: One of the best goaltenders in the league, I've been a big fan of takethehorizon for a while and fully believe he'll be a force to be reckoned with. He peaks at the same time as our S53 core and will hold that steady for the S55s as well making him a perfect candidate to be our Cup winning goalie. Round 13, Pick 200: Team Jeff Selection: P - Vladmir Petrov Reasoning: #FreeVladmir I just had to reunite Gabe with Muford when the opportunity arose. All memes aside Muford is another great friend of mine and an amazing LR presence. He’s someone who will do anything to help the team and knows how to build a quality player (GOAT goalie). Round 13, Pick 201: Team Fae Selection: P - Jasper Maximov Reasoning: Solidifying the defense of the future by bringing in the talented Maximov. Jasper is a nice offensive focused blue liner who had a monster year in Quebec. Enigmatic is a chill person to have in the LR as well, making this a nice pickup. Round 13, Pick 202: Team Luke Selection: P - Aleksander Kozlov Reasoning: My First prospect is one that I know that can replace one of my 3rd liners that I will be taking later in the draft that is meant to be a stopgap for a player like Kozlov. He is someone that is about to be called up to the SHL so its a good time to pick him. Also Flappy is a great user Round 13, Pick 203: Team Nham Selection: P - Dee Centerman IV Reasoning: I don’t know if there’s anything that I can say that most people in the SHL already don’t know. If anything, being a new user I haven’t come to fully appreciate what grok has accomplished but I do know well that he’d be a fantastic member to bring to the group, adding to every level from potential advisory feedback with his ability to look at the macro and micro of the SHL, to just being a fun guy to chat with. As a future 3rd line C for this team, having that shutdown player for matchup purposes will be key. Round 13, Pick 204: Team Arkz Selection: D - Johnny Shuffleboard Reasoning: Speaking of, Shuff here is going to be the eventual star on this defense. We get him young here, and it won't be long until his knocking on the door of the top pairing. Round 13, Pick 205: Team Puff Selection: F - Calogero Crudelli Reasoning: An often overlooked forward, Crudelli is quietly efficient at scoring and can hold his own against players with more TPE than him. Having him on the third line will be a boon, as not many teams can boast 1500TPE players there. Round 13, Pick 206: Team Hordle Selection: D - Barret McCarthy Reasoning: Another defenseman to bolster my D-core. McCarthy should fit in with the rest of my players Round 13, Pick 207: Team Boom Selection: F - Lassi Suhonen Reasoning: I needed a centre, and Suhonen fits the bill. Tez is a legendary user too. Round 13, Pick 208: Team SDCore Selection: F - Thomas Vanice Reasoning: Adding a sim league vet to a team, who has a solid build and I know I can rely on ok, easy. Juosu is an amazing user and brings a lot of experience and knowledge to the room. Vanice is a nice addition to a solid Forward group. Biggest Surprise: Fishy - I think it’s McCarthy. Similar to my surprise a round above, there’s still a decent chunk of active, earning defenceman like bilbo’s player Montgomery that I would value higher than McCarthy. Shuff: Just last round fishy called out Arkz for drafting Darnell Johnson over myself (and a few other similar TPE d-men). I’m going to go the other way. I don’t see how I fit on that team. With the rest of the defense being S50 or later, I’m the youngest of Arkz’s defenders by 5 seasons. A gap like that I don’t see how my timeline would fit with his players. A pick here of Dominic Montgomery like fishy has been pushing for, would give Arkz a sixth high TPE defenseman, making his team the best defensive team for the first few seasons of the new SHL. Instead you have my player under or right at 1K TPE playing with Johnson who is also at 1K instead of a 1.5K player. Reid - McCarthy or Ford here. What Fishy said about McCarthy stands, but I think Ford at the beginning of the round is just as suspect. McCarthy is deeper into regression, but still has more TPE than Ford. If McCarthy can earn at a high rate and keep fighting regression, he doesnt stand out as a worse pick than Ford to me. As is, Ford will likely only last a season or two before being tied to the 3rd pairing our retired. Biggest Steal: Fishy - Commander Shepard I think. He’s still a viable top 6 player as 7 noted, I believe is still active, and should age gracefully as 7’s young players surpass him on the depth chart. Shuff: Tony Ford at 194 to Sparky is a good pick. Ford is a high TPE defender, and Sparky came in with a great defense (Odelein, Michaud, Petrenko), will claim the title of the best defense (especially due to some interesting choices by Arkz) for season one of the new SHL. Reid - Cillian Kavanaugh for me. A lot of top earning goalies went off the board in much earlier rounds, so getting Kavanaugh here is a steal. It is hard to call many goalies a steal, but I think Kavanaugh qualifies here. Already at 1500 TPE, and only being a S52 player, Kavanaugh will be a top goalie for a long time. Using a 13th round pick on someone who will be a top 10 goalie for the next 10 or so seasons qualifies as a steal to me. ROUND 14
Round 14, Pick 209: Team SDCore Selection: F - First-Name Last-Name Reasoning: FNLN good pick, another young forward who is on an up and coming team. Will add to my forward depth. Round 14, Pick 210: Team Boom Selection: F - TURG TURG Reasoning: TURG is a really active young user who can fill out my offensive depth while he developed. Round 14, Pick 211: Team Hordle Selection: P - Tyler Ward Reasoning: This is a reach. This man drafted himself. LOL What a nerd. Round 14, Pick 212: Team Puff Selection: D - Dominic Montgomery Reasoning: Another S45 defender like Emerson, Montgomery makes for a very solid 2nd pairing defender and can be used in all situations. A versatile defender that is foundational to teams. Round 14, Pick 213: Team Arkz Selection: F - Luca Veccelli Reasoning: Luca is a solid player, who might benefit from a little extra ice time. But he's here to cover the gaps until the prospects build up enough talent to see the ice. Round 14, Pick 214: Team Nham Selection: F - Patric Twist Reasoning: While the start his career was a shaky start, Patty has become a prime example of things never being too late, digging in his heels and continuing to keep up with the monster S53 class. Since juniors he’s been more than happy to fall into the support role, elevating his teammates and while he may not top out as a 2K player, his overall presence and Korra pics put him right up there with any other younger player in the league. Round 14, Pick 215: Team Luke Selection: D - Luc-Pierre Lespineau-Lebrunette Reasoning: I need someone thats still a couple seasons away from regression, and someone that can earn steadily that will anchor the 3rd pairing, or be a nice complementary piece on the 2nd pairing. LPLL is the player I went with, also I respect the hell out of the player that YMFG makes, someone that creates steady players, like Richard C Hocolate Round 14, Pick 216: Team Fae Selection: D - Leopold Lockhart Reasoning: Lockhart is a good defenseman to bridge the gap until some of my prospects are ready to come up Round 14, Pick 217: Team Jeff Selection: F - Lord Raiden Reasoning: I needed another Caps fan in my LR to fight off Leafs and Habs fans that will eventually find their way into the LR. Raiden is someone I was a big fan of around the time of the draft and I’m glad to finally share a team with him here while getting a quality prospect at a position of need. Round 14, Pick 218: Team JY Selection: F - Daniil Nikiforov Reasoning: I have two high powered S55 players who I plan to put third line and let them work their way to top line minutes, how about adding another? We now have a full line that peaks at the same time and will give us incredible offensive firepower as the core ahead of them ages Round 14, Pick 219: Team Reid Selection: D - Teddy Park Reasoning: With now 6 forwards, 4 defenders, and 1 prospect picked, I figured it was time to try and grab another piece of the young core. I think park was overlooked, as I am not sure why he fell this far - especially given the premium placed on young defenders early. I'm super happy to add trashae into the fold, and I think Park slots into my S50s defensive core quite nicely. Up to this point, I am looking at a Owens-Scianna, Bjerg-Petrov, Park-?? D pairings for the future of my core. Pretty awesome. Round 14, Pick 220: Team Muted Selection: D - Joseph Fantobens Reasoning: Very similar to my previous pick, Elias Kierkegaard, Fantobens is an S54 defenseman who will be rising through our defense pairs in the next few seasons and will be a huge part of our defensive core moving forward. Round 14, Pick 221: Team Gabe Selection: F - Mika Mayfield Reasoning: Mayfield is a solid older player to add a higher TPE player who can be replaced by one of the prospects in a season or two. Round 14, Pick 222: Team Sve7en Selection: F - Panda Panico Reasoning: Peej has been a consistently underrated player since joining the league in season 54, and he’s primed for a long and fruitful career. He has sustained income and TPE earning, and is willing to play the grindy and supportive roles for a team which means I’m set to get an incredibly versatile top-6 talent that will be a very efficient cap option. Round 14, Pick 223: Team Fishy Selection: P - Michael Withecheck Reasoning: Withecheck, a future Atlanta stud, comes over to join my franchise in the Redraft. Withecheck will eventually join my third pairing alongside Kya, and will allow for smooth transitions between my three different generations of defencemen (Zheng+Scholz, MAS+Laser, Kya+Withecheck). Obviously, switching Zheng to F has altered this plan, and I may need to pivot to outscore teams, but the potential of this D Corps has me drooling. Round 14, Pick 224: Team Sparky Selection: F - Kriss Darzins Reasoning: This pick right here.... Over 1100 TPE, he will be a vital piece to this team in a few seasons when the old guys call it quits. He has can read the puck on the offensive side with the best of them! He has the ability to skate around the rink for HOURS!! Great player who is gonna win us some ships... future leader. Biggest Surprise: Fishy - It’s probably Hordle taking himself, but I can’t really fault him too much for him wanting to make sure he got his player on his team. Shuff: Obviously the answer is Hordie taking himself. Most teams don’t even have starting goalies, but he’s looking to the future already. Whoever ends up GMing this team has a lot to work with. Reid - TURG TURG going so high. Being only 30th in the S55 class, with a medium earning rate, there were still several quality earners who were just as young available. Just look to my steal of the round for that. I have heard TURG is a good LR presence, so that probably explains it, but still - with several young forwards still available, it feels premature. Biggest Steal: Fishy - I think it’s Dominic Montgomery. Bilbo has shown they’ve still got lots left in the tank, and although they’re entering the 15% regression tier, they still have a decent amount of TPE to make them viable for at least another 3ish seasons. Shuff: Daniil Nikiforov at 218 to JY. Nik is a beast (T-8 in S55) of a player, and a beast of a LR presence. To get him in the 14th round is a steal. Look around at how many S55ers are gone already. Reid - Kris Darzins lasted until here? How in the fuck did that happen? I honestly don’t remember seeing his name being available, otherwise I would have snatched him up sooner. Darzins is a steady earner, sitting around 1150 TPE as of writing. He is a S53 player, so he should peak anywhere in the 1300-1500 range, and has several seasons left as a middle 6 option - probably 6-8 seasons at the very least, depending on how hard regression is fought. On top of that, the user, lilstifler is a great LR presence. What a great pick by Sparky at the end of the round. Tune in for Rounds 15, 16, and 17 tomorrow!
