S75 PT#4: Spooky Fat Guy Due: Monday, March 11th @ 11:59 PM PST

If the next future superstar of the SHL is looking at me for inspirational quotes and advice, then they probably need to do more schooling. Who looks at a guy in his second year in the juniors who is DEAD LAST on his team in scoring in the playoffs even though he’s second on the team in minutes and says “yeah that’s the guy I want inspirational words from.”? Sure, in the regular season I got one whole point more than I got last season (26 instead of 25 woooooh), but I guess the one thing I would tell the kid is I am sorry I am the one who appeared in front of him, and I wish it could have been someone who is actually good at hockey, then I would tell him to never quit working hard and always do the right thing and a bunch of other generic inspirational stuff.

I am so glad that you asked about cross training because that is a big part of John Brown's whole training routine. That is, after all, how he trains stamina as we saw last week. So let us pick up right where we left off. After John Brown takes care of the animals, he typically moves on to the crops. The crops can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours depending on levels of growth and whether things need to be harvested and replanted. His personal favorite plant to grow are blueberries, those are often the bulk of the farm in the summer. While spring typically leans more towards strawberries if John Brown can get his hands on them and cranberries reliably in the fall, all of them together create a wonderful routine of athletics training. Being able to quickly bend down, harvest a plant, and stand back up takes a toll on the body more than you would think, giving him a healthy edge in his hockey play.

Option 2

He was going to wait until the offseason to announce it, but when the PT comes calling, time is of the essence. Marton has been talking about his Survivor-based training all season long, and in the background he's stealthily been preparing for the big, coming-soon grand opening of THE ISLAND GYM: SURVIVE AND THRIVE, a fully Survivor-challenge themed gymnasium for individual training and team building. Housed in a defunct Home Depot, THE ISLAND GYM fills more than 100,000 square feet, which is like ten times the size of your normal neighborhood gym. What do we do with all that space?!?!

We run, we climb, we stand very still for very long periods of time. There's a pool for the aquatic challenges, an indoor beach for sand resistance, and an artificial sun for a fully simulated on-the-island experience. Stop by the REWARD RESORT area for professional massage and island themed snacks ranging from healthy smoothies to the coveted Individual Reward Burger.

Come as an individual or with friends to challenge yourself like never before. Also available to rent for half- or full-day team building!

The thing that Austin Morley wants to say to the young child in front of him that he can carry on is this: Never give up. Not on yourself or on your dreams. If Austin Morley would have given up all those years ago, the first time he tried on skates and fell on his ass, he would be flipping burgers somewhere. Instead, he persevered through the trials and tribulations, and now he is building something great in the city of Manhattan and inspiring kids everywhere - like the one he sees before him - to make something of themselves. Even in the face of all the doubters - and Morley has seen way more than his fair share of them - never give up on yourself and you can accomplish anything that you put your mind to. Morley sincerely hopes that when this young hockey player in front of him comes to his toughest challenges, he can look back on this visitation and pull the strength needed to battle through. Prompt 2

To keep in shape during the offseason, Beau Kav is an avid runner to keep his stamina high during the season. A goaltenders stamina is a an integral part that often separates a good netminder from a great one. Being able to go prolonged periods of time whether that be facing a barrage of shots or playing past 60 minutes into overtime play, a goalies ability to stay resilient in net is of the upmost importance. Besides running, Beau also has picked up pickleball which is a sport that has increasingly become more and more popular, especially in his hometown of Kilkenny, Ireland. Beau ensures at least 2 hours a day during the offseason of some type of conditioning so when training camp begins the following Fall it's not a complete uphill battle to get back into shape. With frequent stretching of the joints, this is hopefully what will allow Beau to have a long successful career in the SHL free of injuries.

Never forget

I think when it comes to the hockey ghost, there's definitely a few words that I would say to them. It's important to keep in mind this as you lace up your skates and hit the rink: it's not just about the game. Enjoy every shot - pass - push of the skate. Never lose sight of the reasons you like this sport. Never forget this when things become difficult and the pressure is on: You have control of yourself. Make sure to remember that. Push through the hard times, that is what makes you better, stronger. Never give up on your dreams; have faith in your colleagues and yourself. This is going to be about you. Make sure to take every experience and shake every hand. You have the goal of the Hall of Fame and do not let anyone stop you from that. You got this; you know you do.

LARGEST PUNISHMENT IN SHL HISTORY

While Crystal in the past had simply played hockey indoors during the summer to stay in shape, or at the worst played roller hockey, this past off-season she had decided to try something different. When Jane Hagglund, Crystal's fiance, had invited her to tag along to her soccer conditioning, Crystal hadn't really expected to do much besides sit around and watch. Unfortunately, word had gotten out that Jane was engaged to another pro athlete, and as such, Crystal was asked to do some soccer drills with them. Despite her leg strength from skating, kicking the ball was about the most she could do when it came to soccer. The other athletes (all current or retired pro soccer players) had giggled as Crystal ran out of breath trying to keep up with them. This had fueled Crystal's desire to keep working harder, even doing soccer drills on off days, in an attempt to keep up. Of course, she had never gotten as good as them by the time it came to be hockey season, but she had at least picked up some decent Stamina and footwork skills that actually transferred over to hockey. Crystal was no longer the first to drop from bag skating. Now she was only 3rd! She plans to play more soccer this off-season to continue reaping the benefits.

OPTION 2

GM's Son of the Montreal Patriotes and Vancouver Whalers does a lot of various cross training methods in order to get himself ready and keep himself in shape as a season drags on. A lot of his various cross training methods involve the consumption of copious amounts of alcohol, just like every other training method that he employs. In this method, as it involves cross training, he goes with two main avenues of approach for it. The first avenue of approach for cross training is to mix various types of alcohol and how much is being drank at any given point. For example, his favorite past time is to start off by shotgunning two beers, then taking shots, then returning to drinking beer. Another very common method of cross training for him is to start drinking one type of liquor, such as vodka, and then going through every type he can over the course of his night.

OPTION 2 - WRITTEN TASK

Aumy Junior II loves to do a lot of sports. In childhood he was training at basketball at first, but since hockey isn't as popular in Finland as other sports, it was only a job of time to see everything change. He tried biathlon too, but quickly understood ghat exactly hockey is in his genetics. He comes from a huge hockey dynasty and it would be a shame to waste it. Luckily, he tried hockey too and enjoyed it. However, he still uses some of trainings he did while playing basketball or doing biathlon. It's very important to change system of all the trainings. That's the only way how to learn new things and build new limits. That's how good hockey players turn in to excellent creatures. Special workouts help with getting better and it's already proven fact, because body tries something new and push some boundaries. That's why cross training is very important for each athlete.

Option 1

Tommy will want to look this child in the eyes and toss his red hair. He would like tell him to keep doing his best and always strive to better themselves everyday, yet he will struggle to get the words out. The older Thomas gets the more he realizes the Next Generation will always strive to improve on those before. Right now that's what Thomas is doing. Soon that's what this child will be doing. So Thomas will try his best to not be resentful as he speaks to this kid. However Thomas has a lot of fight left in himself. So Thomas will hold back all this to continue giving advice. And Thomas will say these final words before he gets sent back into his bed.

"You know, kid, I don't know what the league will be like when you're making your mark. However if you're going to be like me, you better be the very f****** best. Like no one ever was. You got to be a champion and strive to be a champion. You'll need to keep in mind that it's a marathon and not a Sprint. That the journey is what makes you get to this destination. And you better work on your f****** dangles."

Steve Harrington loved baseball before he played hockey, so in the offseason, he plays in a casual baseball league with some other sim league players. This keeps his mind and body sharp when he's not training and keeps that competitive spirit on lock. It also helps him get close to rival players to see how they think. Harrington has also always had a soft spot for the goalie position. Although he's no SHL starter, he likes to don the goalie pads during the regular season at his local beer league. This gets him into the mindset of a goalie and helps him see things from the other side and how he might be able to get into their head when he plays for real. There is always some kind of sport on Steve's mind no matter what time of year it is. Keeping the grind going is how Steve can maintain momentum going into his 100th year in the SHL.

The only thing we are cross traiming for in the entire city of Philadelphia is boxing or MMA and that is just part of what the city was built on. Philadelphia loves boxing, which is why they have a statue of a fake boxer in town. Clearly the best boxer to ever come out of the city despite there being a real boxer who was a heavy weight champion to also call Philly home. Now for.us it's not boxing for titles, although we probably would be able to do that, it is about boxing for cardio and to keep the fans entertained. This is again why we box in local bars and other establishments,.and we fight the fans who get a bit too drunk and try and start shit. So far this has resulted in a few trips to the hospital and some broken hands, but that is is and outside of those events it has been great for everyone involved.
