S79 PT #3: The Man Behind The Mask Due: Sunday, November 3rd @ 11:59 PM PST

Look i'm going to be honest here, I kinda like this prompt but I have zero idea or a way to convey how I feel without coming off as a complete tool on this subject. We have on Buffalo a legend and future Hall of Fame goalie in Rebecca Montagne, you want me to explain how I get her fired up and motivated to play on a daily basis? That's a tall order my friend. I suppose we do what every player in every hockey league seems to do which is a ball game or a catch or something. I really have no idea. Dexter Harrison Jr is a backup goalie who rarely plays so how do I motivate them exactly? Their an IA and barely coherent most nights so that's a wash to be honest. Otherwise I am hanging around Rebecca and keeping their spirits up and their mood light before a game.

Brayden Point helps the goalie stay at their best by taking shots on the goal and offering feedback when a shot goes through. Brayden Point likes to hit on the top shelf of the net and do trick shots on the goal where Brayden Point acts as if he has the puck but does not have the puck and a teammate shots and scores on the net. When a goal goes through Brayden Point is one of the first on the team to bring it up to the goalie and have him practice. The best defense is to learn how the offense plays (for the defense and goalie) and for the offense to learn the defense. Once you understand play style you can counter them on the ice and make better offensive or defensive plays. To help the goalie stay cool, calm, and collected Brayden Point advises some meditation during the down time and before a game to make sure that you stay calm and focused on the ice. Brayden keeps a good relationship with the defense and well the entire locker!  Barracuda Barracuda

2.

The goalie being totally focused with highly reactive reaction time is key to helping win a hockey game. It is not always the easiest for a goalie to just jump right into the game and be at the top of their ability right off the bat without proper warmup. Every pre skate before games Zeus Storm grabs a couple teammates and they work on breakaway chances to get the goalie reacting and seeing the puck. They will fire shots away from different angles, set up passes, and do 2 shooters 1 puck where two skaters will be on a breakaway where one will shoot and the other gets ready for the rebound shot. In this drill the goalie either catches it off the shot or pounces on the puck to prevent rebound goals. Getting the blood flowing is always critical to help the goalie be acting at the highest level of reaction and focus. Skaters play a vital role in getting their goalie warmed up and Zeus takes pride in ensuring his goalie is ready to go before each game.

Written Option 1: For Halloween promotion your teams PR department wants a short horror movie to reach new audiences and as that is about as much work as they feel like doing for it they have your player figuring out the small details like casting and plot. So what kind of movie it will be? Is it going to have a monster and if it does what will it be and who is going to play that role? Or maybe bit more psychological horror? Reliving a game seven loss from the past or is it going to involve hockey at all? What kind of movie your player would create and what role they would play in it?

For the Halloween promotion, Tom Pedersen envisions a horror movie that mixes hockey and psychological terror, tapping into the fears of every dedicated player and fan. The plot follows a team that is haunted by a ghostly Sámi figure known as "The ganning of games past". A spectral presence that torments players who have suffered heart-wrenching losses in the past and continue to make them lose. The creature, played by a teammate with a knack for theatrics embodies the collective trauma of those haunting, nail-biting moments when victory slips away.

Tom would take on the role of the old veteran who tries to rally the team as strange, supernatural events unfold: pucks moving on their own, ghostly whispers echoing through empty rinks, and phantom penalty calls that appear on the scoreboard. The movie builds tension with a psychological twist, as the team must confront their deepest fears of failure to banish the ganning and break it.

It’s a blend of psychological and supernatural horror, perfect for hockey fans who know that sometimes the scariest opponent is the one in your own mind.

Written option 1:

Lily would make a horror movie about the New England Wolfpack about a gang of friends hanging out in the woods of New England where they are confronted by both werewolves and vampires a la Twilight. I would call it "Twilight 2: The Quest for Not Dying a Gruesome Death: Part 1"

The movie would star none other than Pork Tenderloin, a nice slab of meat that attracts the pack of werewolves over with his raw meat smell. The rest of the group consists of Lily Jin Morrow, Thomas Sawschuk, and Troy McClure IIII. Lily would be the smart member of the group that no one listens to, with such classic lines as "Guys I think we are too far from the cabin", "Did you guys just hear something?", and the classic "Is that blood?" Thomas would be the resourceful member, staying true to his name by making contraptions out of the wood from fallen trees that help the members escape.

Troy dies first.

Staying focused is the biggest challenge for a goalie at any point in the game, and being successful at it starts the morning of the game itself. Justin Time goes through his pre-game matchup notes while having a light breakfast, then takes it pretty easy in the morning skate to save his energy. A quick snack and a nap afterward makes sure he's rested and ready to go. At the start of the game, he gets warmed up with some light shots off the pads and to his glove and blocker from the team, and then it's showtime. During the game, you take it one shot at a time, without looking at the scoreboard or trying to think too much about a particular shooter or play. When a goal inevitably goes in, he takes time to review it in his head, check to see if there was anything obvious he should have done, and then file away the info for later. No more scoreboard, it's onto the next play.

fortunately for rip thunderdome of the tampa bay barracuda, keeping his goalie's head in the game is not a difficult task. for him and the rest of his teammates, have one of the best goaltenders in the league behind them, and one of the best backup netminders to boot. these two goalies are tibuk soonika and meo vanbeisbrook. these guys take being locked in to a whole new level, so its not too often that they get thrown off their game. however, when this does happen, rip thunderdome knows how to bring them down and get them back in tip top shape, ready to preform like the stars they are. rip thunderdome keeps the positive vibes going and does not let his goaltenders get down on themselves or distracted during warmups. always playfully challenging them, his goaltenders are always in the mindset of improving and proving him wrong. the relationship between tampa's goaltenders and rip thunderdome's is great.

philippe eko eel has been a stalwart on the atlanta defense for many seasons and thus has been well known to all atlanta goalies that have come through, but unfortunately hasn't built a super long lasting relationship since there have been so many goalies during this time! he was great buds with all of them, but he's played in front of 5 different goalies in his time as an infernoeel. that's not actually that many for real hockey but for shl patterns it's quite a lot. anyway, through his experience in the shl he's learned that way more of the defensive responsibility lies with him and his defense compatriots than with the goalie themself so he tends to just basically ignore the goalie and let them do their own thing, hoping that they'll be able to stop any pucks that make it through atlanta's tight and strong defense, sometimes that hoping rewards him, and sometimes not. if the goalie lets one in, philippe eko eel pays them no mind. if the goalie makes an incredible save, PEE still hardly even glances and certainly doesn't outwardly acknowledge it. happily ignoring goalies all the way on home!

i think pinli decides to direct a psychological horror about an shl player who wakes up one day realizing that they've lost all of their hockey skill. which i realize is basically the plot of space jam but space jam kinda just does it for laughs, you know? here we're gonna do it for drama, we're looking for an oscar film. this is going to be all about a deep dive into the horror that comes with losing your livlihood, a talent that you've built for your entire life-- and who you are without it. what does it mean for your relationships? do your hockey buddies still like you even though youre not a pro? also maybe they like you but how easily do you grow apart no longer on the road together? does your partner still love you? of course they say they do but you might be a fundamentally different person without hockey. how long until the spark fades? how long until you aren't the person that they married? these are the kinds of fears and torments we're going to analyze in our horror film, and somehow we're going to reach a broader market than just shl players. i dont know how yet, but i'll find a good marketing guy...

Written Option 2

Before the game, every goalie has their own routine including all of the basic necessities such as stretching and moving around the crease. Eventually, the skaters will warm up by taking shots at the net and the goalie may or may not participate while that’s happening. When they are in the net, Atticus Hale likes to practice shooting at the five-hole and glove side since goalies will make many of their most crucial saves with their pads and glove.

It is extremely important for goalies to stay focused through the game and not get rattled. Sometimes, this can be tough to do and it is up to the goalie’s teammates to make sure they maintain a positive mindset. During a game, as long as the goalie is in the zone, making big saves, and keeping the team in a position to win, there isn’t a whole lot of interaction going on outside of the occasional head or pad tap to acknowledge a nice save or just to say “good job.” However, if things start to go off the rails and the goalie is clearly frustrated or not focused, it’s important to let them know that it’s fine and we can get that goal back. Positive reinforcement can go a long way.

I'm not a horror movie fan so I'm probably not the best person to ask. Since I'm supposed to pick then I would probably go with the last time Baltimore made it the Challenge Cup. We had such a good run up to the Cup and to lose that way it was really disheartening. It's really the only thing I look back on and fear, it hasn't affected me or the team in the playoffs yet, but I worry if we reach that stage, we might not hit the same level of performance. A gentleman's sweep is never fun when you're on the other side of it, to make matters worse we gave up a lot of goals in the last three games. As a defenseman it almost makes me sick. So yes considering it still lingers in my head I would make that series a horror movie and add some spooky sound and special effects.

A short horror movie, which was decided for me to do by my organisation the Kelowna Knights, is a horror movie about a our mascot, as the antagonist, going rogue. It would be a thriller horror movie, with some elements of slasher in there, although no-one dies. Some casting elements would be using some players from the organisation and other teams; as well as famous actors and actresses to fill other roles. Someone would also peform as our mascot in the movie, fully in the suit.

The plot would be about the mascot watching the playoffs finals last season, where Kelowna lose, and he gets upset and eventually goes and hunts for the other teams players and fans, but the Knights save the day, as they stop the mascot in his tracks. In the end, Kelowna get a new mascot who inspires them and leads them to the playoff finals again, where this time they do win.

Written Option 1:

Snowjob productions presents The Blizzard.

When a group of bored high-schoolers decide to ignore the weather forecast, they get more than they bargained for.
Travelling to a party on closed highways in rural Alberta, their car skids off the road. With no help on the way, they're forced to seek refuge in a nearby, abandoned farmhouse.
Buoyed by their youthful exuberance and carefree attitudes, the teens start a fire and hunker down to spend the night. However, throughout the evening, they start disappearing one by one. It becomes a desperate fight for survival as they not only battle the extreme elements but also the killer amongst them.

Starring, in their breakout roles:
  • Alexa Johansen as Sylvia, the high school valedictorian.
  • Ólafur Atlason as Hunter, the affable jock.
  • Gwendolyn Telenn as Audrey, the head cheerleader.
  • And Jeyeff Effo as Arthur, the misunderstood rebel.
As well as cameo appearances by all of your other favourite Blizzard players (or as many as time restrictions will allow).

Directed by Matviy Cajabi.
