NOTE: It has been brought to my attention that the site sends out a lovely ping every time I update previous announcements with links to the new one, so I will no longer be doing that. Instead you can click on the announcement link to be brought to a hub with all of the rosters that you can then navigate. Sorry for the inconvenience and for the many pings (especially you Eagles out there)

Legacy Tournament Update- http://simulationhockey.com/showthread.php?tid=99749

S50 hit us like a dump truck that’s full of liquified dog shit that’s been spiced with asbestos and burnt popcorn. This might be the worst season the SHL has ever seen. No joke.

Luckily some of these young s48 bois are not in the horror show that is the SHL and are still happily chugging away in juniors. That might make it a little tough to play against the likes of Izzy and Lokitonov, but we shall see.

The Roster

Nick Connolly syndicateOutlaws has started the season in the SMJHL and will likely finish it there too. Currently captaining the Outlaws, he is on the second line in sort of a 1A1B situation for Anaheim. He had an alright s49 but you would hope for more from the young man as a top ten pick for Chicago. Hopefully he finds his scoring touch soon and keeps working on his game for his inevitable jump into the SHL. @shutdown

Atlas Rush Dragonsraiders has not seen any SHL time either nor will he this season, but that is ok as he could still use some time to perfect his game. He is a top line player for the Raiders and is emerging as a solid two-way forward who you can depend on to make smart decisions. This is someone the Dragons will likely want to keep around to take the mantle of the Augment himself when the opportunity arises. @Rublic

Calogero Crudelli JetsRaptors is another SMJHL player for the time being but quite a talent for the Raptors. Going point per game in s49, he will likely be even better this season as some of the older SMJHL players are breaking into the SHL. Now is his time to shine and prove that he is the next big thing for the Winnipeg Jets. @jason97

Barrett Blackwood BlizzardScarecrows joined the Blizzard on their cup run last season and celebrated with the team before heading back to St. Louis for another season with the club. Blackwood has had 2 amazing seasons on the Crows and now, being named alternate captain, will find himself in an even increased role on the team and with more pressure to be a big name. I see a bright future ahead of Blackwood, my recruitment TPE depends on it. @MrStennett

Jon Forty-One Chiefs has cracked the SHL and is beginning his rookie season with the Chiefs. He had a respectable s49 in juniors and will likely see sheltered minutes in Minnesota until he really feels confident going out there and playing his game. A second round pick for the Chiefs, he would like to make other teams pay for passing on him by having a big season. @C9Van

Ravyn Tedisko Specters:kracken: is fresh off a four star cup win and is trying to prove that the Specters did good by trading for her. S49 was a step back from her previous season but it looks like the coaches are trying to give everyone some ice time which limited her ability to steal the show. We shall see is s50 goes any different for the young forward as she would like to go back to back and prove to her SHL GMs that she is ready to move up to the big club. @Darkened_Rose_16

Jonas Larsen pride is making his SHL debut with the Pride and hoping to kick his SHL career off on a better note than his SMJHL one. His numbers weren’t fantastic with the Armada but the Pride are playing it safe and starting him one the fourth line to help him acclimate to better competition in the SHL. @DaftRaincloud

Bobby Bobcalf prideWhalers is another Pride youngster that didn’t crack the show like his linemate but will use this opportunity to hone his game and emerge as a sniper in the juniors. His numbers haven’t been jaw-dropping so far on the Whalers but hopefully playing first line will allow him the time and spice to rack up points and show San Francisco that he is ready to play with the big boys. @nubbedindaribs

Raphael D’Alcott Platoon is another player breaking into the SHL after a very solid s49 with the Armada. Platoon management saw something they liked and put D’Alcott on the third line to start his career. He will play big minutes for West Kendall and hopes he will soon be a part of their return to dynasty status as the next great Platoon star. @KenitohMenara

Tah Puhcheese JetsKnights had a breakout season in s49 with 42 pts for the Knights and hopes to continue that performance here in s50. He will spend the season in the juniors but the Jets feel that is good for him and if he can be a top scorer in the SMJHL the GM will know he is ready to make an impact on their SHL roster. @Wheel Snipe Celly

Emeka Valentine-Okoli WolfpackRaptors is aging like a fine wine in the SMJHL, getting better as the seasons roll on and becoming nice and tasty for the Wolfpack to enjoy later. Becoming a solid first liner for the Raptors, it will be tough to break into the Wolfpack’s already strong young forward core but a great season from him and the management will find a spot for him in the SHL. @ProjectSaint

Kaspars Claude Barracuda:kracken: was a staple in Vancouver before being moved to Montreal (now Carolina). All of this change in scenery has affected Claude’s numbers but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the former first overall pick for Tampa bounce back and have a tremendous year on the Kracken. Tampa has a lot of young defense so Claude will have to work hard to earn a spot on their roster. @Bruins10

Gabriel Johnson Steelhawks is storming the SHL, landing on the top pairing of the Steelhawks with the likes of Tig Murphy. A very solid season for the defender in his last hurrah with the Armada, there is some work to be done on defense but the offensive spark is there and he looks to be a future top 2 dman for the Steelhawks for seasons to come. He and the team are in a very good spot right now. @Gwdjohnson

Piotr Horvat Renegades had an outstanding season on the Knights, playing a complete 200 ft game for them that made the Renegades management say “we need this kid on the team NOW”. Anchoring the second pairing on a rebuilding Texas team doesn’t come without its challenges, but Horvat will have tons of opportunities to grow and succeed on the SHL scale. @Slowpoke

Satoshi Zizagooney StampedeFalcons is one of the top offensive defensemen in the SMJHL right now. Starting another season with the Falcons while Buffalo figures out how to make room for him, Zizagooney will look to somehow top their previous 40 pt season with an even better campaign. If anyone can do it, it's Satoshi. @TheWoZy

Emiko Spector BarracudaFalcons has the tough task of somehow following up Blue’s dominant SHL performance in past seasons. He’s done a good job of it in Detroit and will spend some more time there learning the ins and outs of goaltending. Joining the leaderboards of SMJHL goalies with his s49 performance that included an impressive 6 shutouts, the Falcons expect even more out of him and perhaps yet another Laurifer Trophy. @"mantorune"

Kasperi Braulin PlatoonWhalers is starting another season for the Whalers as the bonafide #1 in Vancouver. Drafted with high hopes to take the reigns for Biscuit, Braulin has seen his development slow and there is still hope for him to work to become a starter in the SHL. Vancouver is fine with his slow progress as they get even more use out of him as West Kendall doesn’t feel ready to call him up. Hopefully he can mentor some of the young rookies just breaking into the SMJHL and get them ready for another Whalers cup run. @TheFlash

Alternate Captain 2

Lyle Odelein III Specters is just joining the Specters for his rookie campaign, but if his SMJHL time is any indication he will be a solid two-way dman for New Orleans. Former captain material for the Crows, Odelein is a locker room gem and will have no problem captaining this team to victory. @Huck24

Alternate Captain 1

Mika Kandinsky Stars is a very rare breed in the SHL as they were named captain of the North Stars before they even debuted for the team! This is a lot of pressure for a fresh faced rookie but if anyone can handle it with grace, it's Kandinsky. They have the makings of an absolute superstar and soon WILL be the face of the Toronto franchise alongside Lokitonov and Carpet. A natural fit for captaincy on this team and a class act. @Mika_Kandinsky

Captain

Olivery Cleary Panthers is an even rarer breed as they were a true rookie in the SHL, joining the LA roster right after they were drafted. The LA management saw something in Cleary that I guess most did not and wanted them on their opening lineup with the older players gaining valuable SHL experience. Now that they have two seasons under their belt they are one of the most fit on the team to don the letter and lead this team as captain. @Buster

Now that all the players have been announced, the roster is as follows:

Atlas Rush
Barrett Blackwood
Bobby Bobcalf
Calogero Crudelli
Emeka Valentine-Okoli
Emiko Spector
Gabriel Johnson
Jonas Larsen
Jon Forty-One
Kaspars Claude
Kasperi Braulin
Lyle Odelein III (A)
Mika Kandinsky (A)
Nick Connolly
Oliver Cleary ©
Piotr Horvat
Raphael D’Alcott
Ravyn Tedisko
Satoshi Zizagooney
Tah Puhcheese

Line Speculation-
Line 1-
Connolly-Kandinsky-Rush

A fairly solid top line, Kandinsky is the only SHL ready forward but they are all solid players. Connolly is a little weak on the defensive game but I believe Kandinsky could score enough to boost that plus minus. They are mostly passers so it will be interesting to see who takes up the scoring role on this line.

Line 2-
Crudelli-Blackwood-Forty-One

Forty-One is the only one getting a taste of the SHL here, but that shouldn’t matter as this line has the potential to play some great hockey. Crudelli and Blackwood are already SHL superstars, and I bet Blackwood would have no problem potting home passes from his skilled linemates.

Line 3-
Tedisko-Larsen-Bobcalf

Larsen is the only one here with any SHL experience, even if it is 10 games on the fourth line. Tedisko saw her production decline but maybe with a change of linemates such as these she can get some chemistry. Bobcalf is a great scorer and we just have to hope these guys can keep the puck out of their net as well as they can score.

Line 4-
D’Alcott-Puhcheese-Valentine-Okoli

A great fourth line, D’Alcott is your resident rookie boi while the others are seasoned SMJHL vets. This is a crazy line because all of them are great goal scorers and can tickle the twine when the situation arises, but somehow I feel like that will work in this situation and these guys will be as dangerous a line to play against as any.

Defense Pairing 1-
Odelein-Cleary

Both of these guys have now cracked the SHL, and this is a decent top pairing for what this squad has to work with. Cleary had good defensive shutdown stats while Odelein had some good offensive numbers, so for this line to work they will have to play off of each other’s strengths to cover for each other’s weaknesses. I could see this going well.

Defense Pairing 2-
Claude-Johnson

Johnson is now playing big minutes with the Steelhawks with Claude slaves away in the juniors, but this is another decent pairing for this Astros team. These guys play a good two-way game but are a little weak on the defensive side so they will have to limit their mistakes to make sure they don’t get burned by seasoned vets who have done this for years upon decades.

Defense Pairing 3-
Horvat-Zizagooney

Horvat is another player cracking the SHL, and Zizagooney had an absolutely terrific season in Detroit. These guys will both be able to put up really good offense and be sound in their own end. This is a pairing to be excited for and hopefully they impress all the fans and dazzle their GMs as well.

Starter-
Spector
Backup-
Braulin

Spector had a very good season with the Falcons as well as some good backup games with the Barracuda. I wouldn’t go as far to say that either of these goalies are SHL ready but Spector has the potential to be a great starter if they keep developing like they have been. It is an exciting time to be a Tampa fan.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you stay tuned for more announcements regarding the SHL LEGACY TOURNAMENT.
