S73 PT#2: Who's on First?

When talking about inviting teams from youth sports organizations to semi or progressional level sporting events, the only answer for hockey tickets is, right against the glass at ice level. Not only does this provide the highest level of action, it will also get them closer to the players and provide an outstanding atmosphere throughout the game. Selecting a game would definitely be tough as taking into consideration these tickets are donated, you won’t want to give them away against your rival teams as that would hinder incoming revenue to support the organization. Not to be rude, but the kids will enjoy the game at whatever level of competition, I would use a guaranteed win game or one with lower attendance projected to help fill the arena. Inviting youth sporting teams to events and games is always an exciting action as they will turn the volume up to an entirely new octave and provide a buzz throughout the arena.

My Albanian hockey camp is nearly coming to a close and there have yet to be any standout studs. The children simply smoke cigarettes and bicker about which Balkan country they would like to permanently terminate. Since there have been no stand outs, or anyone even interested in hockey in Albania, I had presented a challenge to the Albanian kids - the team to win in a best of 7 series by the aforementioned championship date will receive the ultimate Albanian prize: a 3 week supply of Albanians Choice cigarettes straight from the farm. After informing the children of this their parents reallt put them to work: powerskating, puckhandling, steamroll drills, circles, hack squats, choppers, crossovers, and slap shots. Albania East ended up taking the title over Albania west in game 7, winning 39-37. Albania East were surprised with tickets to my upcoming season opener. When I informed them that I would not supply the cigarettes a riot ensued and I had to flee the country. I guess I should've chose Bosnia.

While Andreas Kvalheim has now lost the scoring touch that once put fear into opposing defenses, he has managed to extend his career by maintaining his defensive side of the game. Andreas has always been someone who prided themselves on their play in all three zones - his bevy of Dar trophies is a testament to that. Therefore, it is no surprise that Andreas is quite particular in how his team should play without the puck. This season's edition of the Toronto North Stars is a interesting mixture of savvy veterans and young talent, with the old folk knowing how the defensive game should be played but perhaps not quite being able to execute while the young rookies have all the ability in the world but perhaps not the experience. Andreas has been busy imparting knowledge on his defenders, from everything from making zone exits to effectively managing gaps while defending the rush.

As a defenseman, my player RIP THUNDERDOME 2013-2023 tries his best to help his goaltender. Keyword there is "tries". While getting a decent amount of blocks, RIP TD is mostly a liability defensively and his poor play defensively is contributing to another underwhelming season for the Great Falls Grizzlies down in the SMJHL. Fortunately, the Grizzlies are guaranteed to make the playoffs this season as they are in one of the divisions with 3 teams, The division we are in seems to be a bit weaker as well, so hopefully we can play well enough to get a high seed for the playoffs. As the season goes on, RIP TD will do what he does best, play offense. If he can help possess the puck in the offensive zone, then he will be helping his goaltender. If the other team can't touch the puck, they can't score. The best defense is good offense.

Written Task:
Lord Raiden (a 2-time Dar award nomination) is a Two Way player, so pretty defensive minded already. But every now and then he is not in the right position or made a bad read. So in those situations I really would appreciate if the defensemen were able to make up for my error and cover my spot. Maybe it would be just a little more hustle from them on a particular play. But usually if the dman can force the player outside onto the boards, I will make up for my own error and skate hard back and cover their position. Most of the time, the defensemen help me out by covering my errors, but sometimes on offense I just need them to make that one break out pass to get us on the offensive. All it takes is that one pass that can push us up the ice and keep the opponents on their heals. That way we can keep the scoring chances coming.

Prompt 2

As a forward, it's a pretty straight forward idea of what Minamino wanted from his backend. Protect the blueline and the net, get the puck out of their zone and to the forwards so that they could do their job. However as he aged further, he gained a higher appreciation for the depth of skill that defensemen in today's league are capable of. So many of them in the past several seasons, he would find being at the top 5 or top 10 of the league scoring. The offensive talent was incredible. He thought he had a partner in that in Jukka Timonen but things never seemed to pan out for him. Now, it's a matter of whatever each player can do, as long as the puck gets into the right net, and stays out of their own. The little thing that he appreciates the most is the ability for the team to win 50/50 and control the puck as part of controlled entries.

Patya not even much worried about winning, because am teach childrens that not everyone am always win. Patya am still going for try hardest, though, just like always! Patya thinking best seats for kids is maybe 10 rows up and near a corner, on the home team shoot twice side. These am tend to be best seats and hopefully organization am going for this idea. It needs for be home game against Chicago, because they probably am biggest rival team and is make for best games. Even though Patya am hurtings for money these days, am wanting for maybe see if organization can cover having dinner with the team, or maybe just Patya, because this am sounding like much fun!

Ubba Lodbrok, native of Copenhagen, Denmark (true birthplace unknown), center for the Anchorage Armada of the SImulation Major Junior Hockey League, prospect for the Philly Forge, a hockey team that plays in the Simulation Hockey League, has graciously offered to fly the kids who won the final scrimmage in his International Ice Hockey Federation camp for kids in non traditional markets, also known has High Five, up to a specific game of their choosing. So, now it's up to Ubba Lodbrok and the rest of the Armada to figure out when they're going to get the kids up here. Obvioulsy it has to be a good game, a good match up, one up against a rival, one up against the Rival, the Quebec City Citadelles, one of their Armada's fiercest rivalries of all time. When the kids arrive, they'll be escorted along, riding in the back of the team's traditional Moose Van. A van that's big enough to hold either one youth hockey team, or a Moose during season. The van is cleaned after both uses, don't worry, that moose meat won't be tainted by kids who pick their butt and then their noses. Anyways, the Armada beat QCC, the youth team skated during warm ups and hosted a press conference pre-game.

Nick Larsson values defenseman who have the ability to be aggressive. Aggression is important on both ends of the ice, with blocked shots and big hits on defense and the ability to jump into the rush and make plays offensively. As they say, the best defense is a good offense, and this aggressive play is simply more exciting. Plus, when defensemen have the ability to help offensively, it helps Nick Larsson in his pursuit of scoring goals. Though it is more fun to have aggressive defenseman, (and helps inflate stats) the most important job of a defender is to protect the goal, and that has to be the first priority. By playing strong defense, it gives Nick Larsson the peace of mind to be a bit lazier on the backcheck, thus helping him score more goals throughout the season.

OPTION 1 - To the Victors Go the Spoils

Written Task: Your camp is nearly over and the kids are happy, but now the organization is considering buying tickets for the winning scrimmage team to one of your games. What seats do you suggest for the kids? Which game against which team? Do you have anything else in mind for them to do while they visit your city?

Since the Tampa Bay Barracuda are having difficulty winning games, the team (primarily DuBølk though, since he is the "self designated" (their words) ideas man of the team) decided they should put the winning team right behind the opposing team's penalty box and weaponize them. Against a tougher opponent such as New England or Philadelphia, they seat the kids behind the penalty box, then, using food and drink provided for free (as a courtesy to their guests), throw them into the penalty box. This will repeat ad nauseum for each opposing player. To keep opposing players going into the penalty box, DuBølk will constantly start fights and flop. In no time at all, the opposing team will falter, and they will win the battle. Phyric in nature due to the numerous fines and suspensions that will occur? Yes. WIll the kids be barred from attending future games? Probably. But it's about the message, not the morality.

For Billy Herrington, the Atlanta Inferno forward in the SHL, it's all about keeping it chill and playing as a team. He's pretty straightforward about what he wants from his defensemen to keep things flowing smoothly on the ice. First off, he likes his defensemen to be rock-solid at the blue line. No free passes into the zone, you know? They need to make smart calls, like when to pinch in or hang back, depending on how the game's going. Billy's all about the fast breaks, so a clean and quick pass from the D-men is music to his ears. Smooth transitions from defense to offense are his jam. Of course, being responsible in the defensive zone is a must. The D-men gotta block those shots and keep the goalie safe. It's like a shield wall in front of the net. But there's more to it. Communication is key. Calling plays, giving and getting support, and keeping everyone on the same page are like the secret sauce. It makes the whole team vibe stronger. Now, if Billy was a defenseman, he'd be all about making life comfy for the goalie. Clearing the crease, putting their bodies on the line to block shots, and making sure no opponent gets too cozy in the goalie's space. In a nutshell, whether he's playing up front or in the back, Billy's all about that teamwork and trust. It's what makes the Atlanta Inferno tick and, hopefully, gets them those wins.

I would definitely make sure they get tickets right on the ice, near our bench.  I want them to be able to see the action up close and personal and make as much noise as they can.  Plus, they'll also probably get a glove or stick after the game since they'll be close to our bench.  I don't really have a preference about which team we play because this one will be all about the kids and they know that.  Winning would be great, but we want to make sure that they have a good time on a day that fits their schedule.  But it won't just be about the game, they'll also get tickets to the Hamilton Zoo and aquarium so they can see all the exotic animals and water critters we have. It'll be a great learning opportunity for them and provide much needed enrichment for both them and the animals.  We're also going to make sure they get a chance to visit the history center so they can learn all about their local community!
