S75 PT#3: McHockey Present Due: Monday, March 4th at 11:59 PST

Option 2

I think the king of training focus has to be stamina. Sure you could be strong or fast, or be technically brilliant, but the reality of almost all sports (minus baseball basically) is that the game will grind you down and the season is long, and the post season even longer if you are achieving your goals at least. If you don't have the stamina you can't really do too much. It might be fine at first, but if your legs or muscles die out, you will lose, and if you can't stay focus and keep your energy up throughout the game you will make mistakes and start giving up chances. Hockey especially is a game of inches and bounces, more than any other really, and stamina that allows you to play to your maximum effort every shift is the one big thing you can do to out work your opponent and make your own luck late in the game by just working harder.

Hoang makes it clear that he values endurance in everything he does, ensuring his body is ready for massive workloads in any game situation is an absolute must as far as he is concerned. Training to pace breathing and stamina while remaining quick on his feet is critical, especially during the playoffs when defenses close up and physicality spikes. Hoang knows how to conserve himself in the corners, making the smart decisions to extend his play, and to a degree, his career. What he prides himself on working towards is a quicker pace of play, making the first stride faster, making the collision with the boards rougher, while conserving that stamina. While this translates to more ice bags in a few places after workouts, Hoang hopes this well help him become a better player in the long run. For all intents and purposes, that's a fair tradeoff to make.

Prompt 1

As Svoboda woke up to some McDavid fella looking down at him, he could not help but wonder who he was or who this "Sidney Crosby" guy was. Svoboda eventually came to learn that these players are from a league called the "NHL", probably just some fake SHL knock-off, he thought. But Svoboda figured that perhaps he should help this guy, especially if these claims of immortality were to be believed.

Svoboda started by informing McDavid of the most important metric to playoff success: being picked up by a good team.
"For example, I was a very average prospect when I was drafted to an already stacked LA Panthers team and we won the cup immediately. A well rounded roster is key to that success"

McDavid seemed quite upset at this knowledge, and asked if there was anything else that could help, as a well rounded team did not seem to be part of his future.

"Oh yeah, just bribe the refs to let you win, that's another option."

With that, McDavid seemed a bit more content and promised Svoboda he'd show him his secrets if this advice worked for him.

This one is easy to be honest. McJesus trading me his super sick training regime to turn me into a hockey demigod will just cause Philadelphia to be even more dominant in the playoffs than they already are. For seasons Philadelphia could not get out of the first round. In the beginning it was because they were the underdog but eventually it just became about getting goalied time and time again. That's when the team came up with a radical plan. They were three to one down in yet another series against the Manhattan rage when captain and leader @Evil_AllBran revealed that he had an ancient text that could rewind time and change the past. All the team had to do was place their hands on the cover of the book and chant the name of a magic demon. EAB started it off barely muttering kenitoh Menara Kenitoh Menara Kenitoh menara @golden_apricot and @Gwdjohnson quickly joined in and it became louder Kenitoh Menara Kenitoh Menara Kenitoh Menara . Soon everyone was chanting and the locker room thundered with KENITOH MENARA KENITOH MENARA KENITOH MENARA. All of a sudden an eery silence filled the locker room and the enchantment was done. Since then the Forge have never failed to reach the conference finals and have either made the cup finals or been eliminated in seven games.

Look at Connor McDavid, Hugh had to hold back his laughter. Did Connor actually think Hugh would help him in anyway? Was he the dumb? Hugh honestly did not know how to respond to such a question. Hugh was wishing for the good old days of having to deal with Bobby Orr in dream, that was so much nicer than dealing with this clueless clown. But Hugh did think that maybe he should trade with him as Brad Merchant is immortal and that is pretty cool and would be nice to be around that long. Although there was no way he was going to trade the secret of winning, that would be like Conan trading the secret of steel and there is no way Hugh would be giving away the secret of winning especially to a clown like Connor McDavid. So Hugh just stared at him not saying a single word to him, with a grin.

Supah didn't know there was anything besides strength until he was a junior in high school. He prided himself on his ability to lift almost anything. His 180lb Newfoundland he would carry on walks when the heavy coated dog became to tired to continue the venture around the block. When they needed to move houses he simply carried the power lifting bench to the moving truck after he wasn't able to find where/how to take it apart. Of course he would eventually begin to train other things like stamina and whatnot and all of that but when Supah was enjoying himself he had either a dumbbell in his hands or a hockey stick. Supah would do cardio and other things like that by running with his dog or other heavy objects for not even a second could pass by without Supah doing some kind of strength training otherwise he felt as though the workout had been wasted.

When it comes to the focal point of his training, Jaden Tanner likes to base everything around his physicality. This often means long nights in the weight room, sprints up stairs, and other similar exercises. He can often be seen chugging protein shakes I between sets of squats, something that somehow does not make him violently ill.

One aspect he does not focus on at all is offense. He claims he just doesn't have the head for it. That's not to say he doesn't have skill; he can stick handle just fine, he just isn't ever going to be the guy putting up highlight-reel goals. He'd much rather make sure the other team doesn't get the puck anywhere near his net.

This has led to a little bit of friction with the Calgary coaching staff, as the team can really use any scoring it can get. It remains to be seen whether Jaden will actually take their advice and develop his offensive instincts further.

My player, known for their unconventional training methods, prioritizes endurance and stamina through a unique blend of ancient martial arts techniques and modern scientific principles. They believe that true endurance is not just physical, but also mental and spiritual. To train endurance and stamina, my player engages in a regimen that includes long-distance running through treacherous terrains, such as mountain trails and desert dunes. This challenges not only their physical endurance but also their mental fortitude as they push through fatigue and adversity. In addition to running, my player incorporates high-intensity interval training (HIIT) sessions that simulate the fast-paced nature of hockey gameplay. These workouts consist of explosive bursts of activity followed by brief periods of rest, effectively improving cardiovascular fitness and stamina while mimicking the stop-and-go nature of hockey. However, my player doesn't neglect strength and skill training either. They understand the importance of being well-rounded athletes on the ice. Strength training involves lifting unconventional objects like tree trunks and boulders, focusing on functional movements that translate to hockey-specific actions such as skating, shooting, and checking.

Prompt 2:

Cardio is lame. No one should do cardio. The proper ratio of cardio to hard workouts? 0:100. Cause get this, hockey isn't an endurance game, it's power lifting game. You're never actually doing 30 minutes of treadmill/stairmaster equivalent movement, you're really just doing wind sprints. Your shift is a set, get 3 reps in of full steam ripping it, and then you take a rest before your next set in 2-3 minutes. That just sounds a lot like hitting leg press, so you guessed it, the best cardio is leg press. Wind sprints would be valid based on the parameters given, cause like, its short sets, rest driven, and is actual cardio, but it's still lame. Why? it doesn't include weights. So the best form of cardio is actually wind sprints with a weighted vest, cause then you're still moving hella weight while technically repping out cardio. Just how it is in the business.

John Brown loves to train endurance and stamina. Frankly they're his two favorite traits to prioritize training. This means that he often gets up very early on his farm and goes out to milk the cows. Once that's done he can let them out and then work on the goats, who also need to be milked. If they're good, then he can move on to the sheep. Sheep only need to be sheared every now and then, so usually after he takes care of the barn animals John Brown can let them out into the pasture. After he takes care of that he goes on to check the chickens, who need their eggs collected. This takes up most of his morning and is good for building stamina. John Brown then typically runs a couple of laps around the farm and makes sure any routine maintenance requests are taken care of. This could be repairing fences, paving pathways, or harvesting plants as needed. All of this builds a very healthy lifestyle, one he enjoys immensely.

The best way to train endurance and stamina is a short fight with several people. And by that I mean fighting dudes at the bar when on a bender. There is nothing better than throwing fists at a bag, or a face to really get the blood flowing and make sure that the heart is in top condition. The real problem here can be if you get hit yourself, so that is why gnabe has really worked on dodging fists as well. So far he has used this conditioning trick to really get I ntop physical shape and the team has started to adopt this technique as a regular part of their in season training. This has resulted in several bars banning the team from being on site, while others are trying to get them to show up regularly due to the number of sales they can make to get the boys in a state where they are willing to fight.
