[2x Team Spotlight] Los Angeles Panthers draft numbers #16
#1

Welcome to the 16th entry of the team of the week draft number articles. After a comment on the last one I realized there were only 2 weeks left, and 4 SHL teams would be done in those 2 weeks. This also made me realize that I missed a team last week, as it already had 2 SHL teams. But for this one it will be this weeks Los Angeles Panthers. The Calgary Dragons will be done either next week, or in the week after.

Between S62 and S76 the Los Angeles Panthers have drafted a total of 33 players. 5 of these were not in the portal, and 3 came into the junior league via the waiver. Furthermore there are 7 players were we do not know the position of.

Let’s start with the season that the players got drafted into. This time it is not that diverse, with S63, S64, S66, S72, and S75 having 0 players drafted to the Panthers. Furthermore S65, and S67 only have 1 draftee. Following this up is S76 with 2, S62, S71, S73, S74 with 3, S70 has 4 draftees, and then come S69 with 6 and S68 with 7 for a total of 17 draftees in these 3 seasons alone.

Next up is the SHL round in which the players were drafted. The biggest round for the Panthers has been the 2nd round, with them drafting from that one 13 times. The 3rd round comes after with 8, and only  then we see the 1st round with it’s 7 draftees. Following this up are the 4th round with 3, and the 5th round with 2.

Now for the position, obviously the 7 unknown position players will be left out of this, leaving us with 26 players that have a known position. 8 of these were left defense, 5 were centers, goalies and right wingers have been drafted to the Panthers 4 times, then comes left wing with 3, and finally right defense with 2 draftees.

Next up the junior round, the waiver and not in portal players won’t be included in this, leaving us with 25 players. The biggest rounds stay the same, but they are closer with the 2nd round having 9 draftees, 3rd round 8 draftees, and 1st round 7 draftees. No Panther draftees have joined the junior league in the 4th round during these seasons, but 1 has come from the 5th round.

Now the J-teams the players came from. We see a big group of 5 coming from the Yukon Malamutes, 4 coming from the Colorado Raptors. Following these 2 teams we have 3 players joining from the Carolina Krakens, and Great Falls Grizzlies. Next up the 2 player teams being the Anchorage Armada, Detroit Falcons, Nevada Battleborn, and the Quebec City CItadelles. Next up we see the Kelowna Knights, Maine Timber, Newfoundland Berserkers, Regina Elk, and Vancouver Whalers with 1 player per team.

And now the nice chaotic mess that is then full junior team to SHL team chart (getting so close to being done).

the chaotic mess becomes more and more chaotic but remains my favorite part, it makes me wonder how far many of these picks go for each team
