[2x Team Spotlight] Winnipeg Aurora draft numbers
#1
(This post was last modified: 06-16-2024, 08:47 AM by FuriousChicken. Edited 1 time in total.)

With us now officially being over halfway done with this article chain, we are seeing the Winnipeg Aurora as the 11th team. Once again, see part 1 for the rules, and part 7 for a small addition.

The Winnipeg Aurora have drafted 27 players during this time. 3 of those are not in the portal, while 2 others went in the J-league during a waiver draft. Meanwhile 6 players are not a user’s current player, meaning I don’t have their position.

Now let’s go to the first chart, being the season that the players were drafted in. There is a really big group directly at the start, with S62 seeing 10 players being drafted into Winnipeg, the next highest is 5 in S65, then comes 3 in S63, and that basically were all the high ones, we see 2 2-player drafts in S70, and S74, with some 1-player drafts in S67, S69, S71, S72, and S76. With nobody being drafted in S64, S66, S68, S73, and S75.

Then let’s go to the round  the players were drafted into. We see that over half of Winnipeg’s draft picks took place during the 1st round, with this round having 15 of the 27 players, next up we see the 2nd round taking half of the remaining 12 players (6 players), and round 3 taking 5 more players. Finally round 4 takes the final player.

Now onto the drafted positions, the 6 players who aren’t the current players, and the 3 who are not in the portal will be gone for this section. For the rest we see the left wing with 5, and the goalies with 1 as the 2 outliers, with right defense, left defense, right wing, and center all seeing 3 players drafted by the Winnipeg Aurora.

Next up the J-draft round, where the 3 players not in the portal, and the 2 waiver wire players will not be taken into account. This is a lot more all over the place, with 8 players going in the 1st round, 7 in the 2nd round, 6 in the 3rd round, and finally once again 1 in the 4th round.

Then now comes the J-league from which the drafted players came. We see a big link between the Winnipeg Aurora and both the Nevada Battleborn, and the Newfoundland Berserkers with 4 players coming from each of those teams. Next up are the Kelowna Knights, Regina Elk, and the Yukon Malamutes with 3 players each. Next  up the Colorado Raptors and Vancouver Whalers with 2 each, and finally we see Anchorage Armada, Great Falls Grizzlies, and the Quebec City Citadelles with 1 players each to finish it up.

Of course at last we have come onto the “nice” and totally not chaotic full J-team to SHL team picture. I love and hate this one at the same time.

I can't wait for the chaotic chart to become even more chaotic in the future.

Again - nice article!
