7. Stream watch-

I was so excited for the season to start since it would be my players rookie year in the SMJHL. I got the notification the video was live and I waited 10 minutes to view the video since it seems that is the average start time. I opened the video and it was still on the starting page. I waited and waited and waited until finally after forty-five minutes the broadcast began.

I'm in it for one team, my team the Anchorage Armada! I see our game in line to sim so I wait. Finally it's go time Armada vs Scarecrows first regular season game. It ends up being a 6-5 shootout win for the scarecrows. I watch to see if my player got anything in the shootout, nope he wasn't in it. He did get an assist! Then after what felt like 30 minutes it was game 2 Armada vs Whalers. It's a blowout 5-1 for the Armada. Rail got his first goal!  Then came game 3 Armada vs Grizzlies. The Grizzlies mauled us 5-1. Sad note to end the gameday on.

Live Stream:
I've been fortunate enough to be able to watch all of the live streams except for one. My favorite would have to be day one when we, Quebec City Citadelles, won all four games that we played.  Game one was a 4-2 win at Great Falls with goals from Duke, Levon(2) and Seth. In game two, we beat Newfoundland 5-4 on the road. Scoring for the Citadelles was Aisha, DeJana, Shiny had two goals and Uwe.  Game three was a 5-4 win at St. Louis.  In this game, we had goals from DeJana(2), Seth, Shiny and Uwe.  In game four we traveled to Great Falls to take on the Grizzlies once again.  We completed the sweep by winning 5-3 with goals from DeJana, Greg(2), Johan and Shiny.  In real life, I've always been a competitive type of person and I love winning.

On day 3 of the regular season, the Kelowna Knights dominated. Playing four games and winning four games, they bested the defending champs in an 8-5 competition beat my Battleborn twice and tamed the Great Falls Grizzlies in a high scoring affair (10-6). There were two games that were played instead of simmed, the first being the Carolina Kraken vs the Yukon Malamutes. The Kraken took an early lead less than 2 minutes in the first, but the Malamutes refused to heel, scoring right back. This was a tough back and forth, and for awhile it looked like it was all Yukon. But with less than 2 minutes to go in the third, Carolina scored in 4 on 4 and capitalized when Yukon pulled their goalie in an attempt to tie it up, for a 6-4 final score and A Kraken win. The second game was the Thunder Bay Walleye and the Colorado Raptors. This one was less eventful, as the Raptors held the lead the entire game. Although the Walleye made efforts to come back, a final score of 7-4 put another in the win column for a hot Colorado team.

7. Watch an SHL or SMJHL stream on YouTube
- Watching the first 6 streams now and being able to hang with all of my referrals, all of us being on discord watching the streams happen, watching the day 1 pains of pressing the wrong button (as a former production director for another league it's always fun to see someone else press the wrong button Smile ) and watching someone's first goal get wiped away, only to get to re-live the experience later.  Watching Tyler Bodega come in in relief in the first game for Great Falls, only to be put up against my Quebec City team and put up a 100 rating while getting peppered with almost 70 shots was by far the highlight of the season. Also... The Yukon goal song is by far the least expected thing I've probably ever heard (100% expected howl, got borked instead)

7. (Watch a Stream)

Being on a stacked QCC team means more fun during streams, because it means I get to spam "WEH" a lot and also complain about having low stamina when we lose. During the 2/28 stream out 5 game winning streak was promptly ended on the first game of the day, but we responded with a 4-1 WEH, in which I did mostly nothing, maybe because I'm like last line but that's really no excuse to not step up my game. QCC has finally escaped the roughest portion of the schedule, where we started our season with a ridiculous number of b2b's, and now we are free and can rest a little. Shoutout the simmer for keeping us updated when there are issues and making sure to get through them quickly. Watched a crazy hatty comeback for Ottawa just to lose in OT to Maine, while my Citadelles were finally getting some rest, then of course we came back from the rest days and split the remaining 2 games.

7. I watched the SMJHL S81 Day 12 stream, hoping to see the Kelowna Knights get another perfect simulation. I was also hoping that the Berserkers would fumble the bag given that they are the only team ahead of us in P%. Unfortunately, the Berserkers won a commanding 11-5 game against te Malamutes after being down 5-0 after the first period. I have absolutely no idea how that could even happen. The Knights were not too shabby themselves putting up a solid 5-3 win against the Whalers. We had a commanding 4-0 lead that we just maintained until the end. Gainz was even able to pick up his 10th assist in that game. Unfortunately, we lost our second game 6-2 against the Kraken; we just seemed to collapse defensively and allowed them to dominate us in the second period. We turned it around with a strong 7-2 win over the St. Louis Scarecrows and a competitive 7-6 win against the Thunder Bay Walleye. Teh Walleye game was insane, we were down 6-2 at the end of the second period, and scored 4 in the third and sealed with an OT winner. An absolute insane game!

My favorite stream so far was easily the draft stream. I was originally thinking I’d just watch the stream on my phone while watching TV, however, I ended up getting some notifications from discord saying there were some people in the voice chat in the S82 sever so I decided to jump in before the draft. This ended up being the right decision. I met Zinny, Percy and ProjectSaint, and we all ended up watching the draft with each other. Zinny was drafted early in the stream at #8 overall and ended up with the Carolina Kraken. He was super excited to be picked so early in the draft. ProjectSaint was next, getting picked at #23 to the St.Louis Scarecrows. I was lucky enough to go next at #37 to the Anchorage Armada. I ended up being the 1st goalie selected in the draft and was pumped to go to a team that had recently had some postseason success. Percy was drafted very soon after me at #40 and went to the Yukon Malamutes. We watched a bit more of the draft but then ended up being too distracted by our new locker rooms. Overall, the experience was an awesome one and the feeling of being drafted was super cool and felt pretty realistic.

7. I catch most simmer streams, but Day 13 of this season stood out, both because of the excellent on-camera commentary (I do not know who you are, but you killed it announcer guy) and because we got to see a full game sim between QCC and the Grizzlies! Before that, we ( Citadelles ) had back-to-back games against the Armada, and after losing 2-3 in the first game that day, we pulled off an equally close 2-1 victory right after. In the headlining matchup against the Grizzlies, we saw a superstar performance from Dejana Kaptina, who earned first star of the game with a goal and two assists. I also don't know if Michigans exist in FHM8 (I suspect they don't) but seeing our commentator call a behind-the-net shot attempt a Michigan was fun and added even more flavour to the experience. Consider me a fan, not just because we won that sim 6-1! QCC closed off Day 13 with a 4-3 win over the Newfoundland Berserkers, which is no small feat given how that team has played this season.

7. Stream watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9JS2ZNllms&t=3016s

I'll comment on this stream, as it was the one that got me hooked into the SMHL, the match between Edmonton and Calgary:

After the first score, the games slowly starts to descend into a hotstreak of faults and powerplays in which EDM survives amazingly enough. After the initial madness, CGY pulls of an amazing snipe tying the scores which kinda seems to rattle the feathers for EDM leading to a double fault which ends up in ANOTHER long shot leaving CGY one ahead of their opponents. It does seem that all this action led to Cristoforo Roccamontepiano to center the team and tie the scores once more barely 15 seconds after the insane play, and after a really crazy bounce scores again keeping the lead away from CGY. The insanity cools off a bit from there in terms of scores, but we still see another "chill" 7 penalties on the third time, bringing the penalty total to 40... The relator did an amazing job during the entire match, keeping it super entertaining and so far it's the most fun and fast paced i've seen. I'd recommend giving it a rewatch on minute 40!

7. The final simulation games were a rollercoaster. I mostly pay attention to my team's games (Thunder Bay), but since I watch with the friends I entered the league with, I pay attention to their games as well. There were 8 days worth of games to get through, so there were no simmed games. Regardless, Thunder Bay went 3-1, dropping a game to Great Falls while putting away Anchorage, Quebec City, and Newfoundland (Silver, my player, put up 1 goal, which was exciting to read). Great Falls went 2-2, beating Quebec and Thunder Bay while dropping to Vancouver and Anchorage. Vancouver went 2-1, dropping only to San Diego, picking up wins over Ottawa and Great Falls (my friend Doctor Wad picked up a 2nd Star against Great Falls). Quebec goes 0-2, losing to both Thunder Bay and Great Falls, but still managed to clinch the first seed in the Northern Conference and in the overall standings. Lastly, St. Louis went 2-1, beating out Detroit and Ottawa while dropping to Nevada (Eric Sosa nets a +6 and a 3rd Star against Ottawa).
