Welcome to the 3rd entry of the week (even though this one should have been done 2 weeks ago ), with the final entry number 20 we are looking at the Calgary Dragons.
The Calgary Dragons have drafted a total of 49 players between S62 and S76, of these 49 only 3 were not findable in the portal, and another 8 were gotten from the waiver wire. Outside of these stats there are only 8 players who do not have a position in the portal. Next up let’s look at the draft number of each season, where we can pretty quickly see that the Calgary Dragons have increased their drafting numbers in the more recent seasons, with S72, S74, and S76 being the 3 drafts with the most draftees going to Calgary, with 8, 7, and 5 draftees respectively. The 4th biggest draft for the Dragons was S65 with 4 draftees, then comes S64, S66, S67, S69, and S73 with 3 each. Next up we got the S63, S70, S71, and S75 drafts with 2 draftees each, and finally S62, and S68 were the smallest draft with only 1 draftee going to Calgary. Next up we see the SHL round the players got drafted in. Here we see the Calgary Dragons does relatively little drafting in later round, with round 1 and 2 having 20 and 18 draftees respectively, but round 3 only having 9, with round 4 already being the last round with 2 draftees going to Calgary. Next up the position, where obviously we will be losing the 8 unknown position players leaving us with 41 of the initial 49. At the Calgary Dragons we see quite a even spread of position, with right defense and centers being the highest at 9 each, then comes right wing with 7, left wing with 6, and both goalies and left defense are on 5. Let us next look at the junior league draft round, were the 8 waiver wires, and 3 not in portals will be excluded leaving us with 38 players for this chart. For the junior draft both the 1st and 2nd round have seen the same amount of future Dragons both having 13 draftees drafted. Not too far behind in the 3rd round on 8, then actually comes the 6th round with 2 draftees, which is followed by both the 4th and 5th round with 1 each. Finally the junior teams where the Dragon draftees came from. The biggest junior team is the Colorado Raptors with 7, followed by the Quebec City Citadelles with 6, then comes both the Great Falls Grizzlies and the St. Louis Scarecrows with 5, followed by both the Carolina Kraken, and Vancouver Whalers on 4, following this with 3 each are the Kelowna Knights, Maine Timber, and Yukon Malamutes. Then comes the Anchorage Armada with 2, and finally both the Detroit Falcons, and Regina Elk on 1 each. And finally, with the Calgary Dragons added the finished version of the chaotic all junior teams to all SHL teams chart.
